• Lamonte Wade Jr. coming off IL on Thursday
According to MLB.com’s Maria I. Guardado, the Giants will activate 1B/OF Lamonte Wade Jr. (hamstring) from the 10-day IL on Friday.

Advice: The veteran was placed on the IL at the end of May and will have missed about four weeks. Wade has a tremendous on-base percentage and will return to an everyday role against right-handed pitching. That will send David Villar back to the bench. Rotoworld Today, 11:27 am

  • Rehab assignment coming
Cobb (hip/shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Friday and could begin a rehab assignment with Single-A San Jose afterward if everything goes smoothly, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Cobb has been trending in the right direction since being shut down in May due to soreness in his right (throwing) shoulder. However, he still needs to build back up to a starter's workload after spending all season on the injured list, so he likely won't return to the Giants' rotation until after the All-Star break. • Throwing bullpen session
Harrison (ankle) will throw a bullpen session Friday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Harrison resumed throwing on flat ground earlier this week and has now been cleared to try things from the bump. It's been more than two weeks since Harrison made a start, so it's likely he'll be asked to go out on a short rehab assignment once he's deemed ready. Rotowire.com Today, 11:17 am

  • Sitting Thursday
Laureano isn't in Atlanta's lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: Laureano has slashed .257/.257/.457 with a homer and four RBI in 35 plate appearances since joining Atlanta on June 15. He'll get a breather versus Chad Kuhl and the Sox, allowing Adam Duvall to start in right field and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Today, 11:12 am
  • Poised to come off IL Friday
Wade (hamstring) will be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Wade has been sidelined for the past month with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain but has been cleared to return after playing three rehab games with Triple-A Sacramento, going 1-for-7 with a 2:4 K:BB. The 30-year-old has slashed a robust .333/.470/.426 for the Giants this season and will go back to receiving regular starts at first base against right-handed pitching. Rotowire.com Today, 11:11 am

  • Strong results in rehab outing
Williams (elbow) yielded one run on three hits and two walks over four innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

Advice: Williams wasn't very efficient, needing 82 pitches to cover his four frames. The results were impressive, though, as he struck out six, induced 16 whiffs and gave up just one batted ball hit at 95+ mph. The Guardians have not confirmed any plans for when Williams' season debut for them will occur, but it could be next week, as soon as Tuesday versus the White Sox. Williams has been on the injured list all season with a right elbow problem. Rotowire.com Today, 11:02 am

  • Returning Thursday
Arcia (head) will start at shortstop Thursday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Arcia has been held out of action since being pulled from Monday's game due to dizziness. Now that the issue has subsided, he'll return to his role as Atlanta's shortstop and look to get back on track after going just 1-for-19 with seven strikeouts across his last six contests. • Cubs move Yency Almonte to 60-day IL
Cubs transferred RHP Yency Almonte (shoulder) to 60-day IL

Advice: Almonte has a shoulder strain and has not been progressing, which has led the Cubs to seek other opinions on a recovery process. The move doesn’t change his ambiguous timeline but frees up a roster spot that allows the Cubs to add reliever Vinny Nittoli to the active roster. Rotoworld Today, 10:53 am
  • Orlando Arcia back in the starting lineup
Orlando Arcia is back in the starting lineup for the Braves on Thursday against the White Sox.

Advice: Arcia had missed the last two days while battling an illness, but he’s back in the lineup and hitting ninth on Thursday. The veteran is a consistent presence in the Braves’ lineup, but he’s not playing well this season, hitting .212/.243/.343 with six home runs in 292 plate appearances. He can be left on waiver wires in most leagues. Rotoworld Today, 10:45 am
