  • Austin Gomber holds A’s to one run over eight
    Austin Gomber tossed eight innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts in a no-decision against the Athletics on Wednesday.

    Advice: Gomber was excellent against the A’s, holding them to one run over eight innings of work. The one mistake was a solo homer by JJ Bleday in the fourth inning. Gomber scattered four more hits and struck out six batters with no walks allowed. He was saddled with a no-decision after a blown save in the ninth. The 30-year-old left-hander will take an impressive 2.76 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 41/17 K/BB ratio across 58 2/3 innings into a start against the Guardians in Colorado on Monday.   • Mitch Spence goes three innings against Rockies
    Mitch Spence allowed two runs with four strikeouts over three innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Wednesday.

    Advice: Spence served up a two-run homer to Elias Díaz in the first inning. He then loaded the bases before he was able to escape the inning. Spence loaded the bases once again in the third, but was able to keep the Rockies off the board. He was done after three innings at 70 pitches, scattering five hits and three walks with four strikeouts. The 26-year-old right-hander has a 4.09 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and a 30/11 K/BB ratio across 33 innings. He’s in line for a start against the Rays in Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Rotoworld Today, 9:51 pm

  • Pulls Marlins to win
    Chisholm went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Brewers.

    Advice: Chisholm clubbed a leadoff homer in the first inning off Freddy Peralta, a long ball that ended up being the difference. In his last 16 games, Chisholm is batting .308 with three home runs, 13 runs and four stolen bases. The 26-year-old is one of seven players with at least seven long balls and nine stolen bases, joining Elly De La Cruz, Bobby Witt, Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Kyle Tucker on the exclusive list.     Bailey went 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 9-5 extra-inning win over the Pirates.

    Advice: This was Bailey's first start since he was activated from the concussion injured list Tuesday. He appeared off the bench in that contest, going 0-for-1. Bailey went on the IL twice due to the concussion, but he looks to have the all-clear this time and should resume a starting role behind the plate over Curt Casali.   • Bounces back against Marlins
    Peralta (3-3) took the loss Wednesday against Miami, allowing one run on four hits and a walk across seven innings. He struck out seven.

    Advice: Peralta was locked into a pitcher's duel with Jesus Luzardo, with a leadoff home run by Jazz Chisholm in the first inning being enough to push Peralta into the loss column. Still, fantasy managers saw the dominant version of Peralta that garnered early Cy Young consideration before his ERA ballooned from 1.90 on April 19 to 4.17 before Wednesday's outing. Through the ups and downs, Peralta's strikeout production has maintained, with 71 K's across 56.2 innings on the year.     Wade went 3-for-3 with three walks, one RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 9-5 extra-inning win over the Pirates.

    Advice: This was Wade's first three-hit game of the year, as well as his second three-walk effort. It's arguably the best example of what he's brought to the table in 2024 -- decent contact hitting and remarkable patience at the plate. Wade is batting .340 with a 19:12 BB:K over 19 games in May. For the season, the first baseman is at a .336/.484/.431 slash line with two home runs, 16 RBI, 20 runs scored, five doubles and one stolen base over 153 plate appearances. Wade briefly saw a full-time role earlier in the month when Jorge Soler was on the injured list, but since Soler's return, Wade has returned to a strong-side platoon with Wilmer Flores at first base.     LaMonte Wade Jr. had an impressive night at the dish in Wednesday’s victory over the Pirates, going 3-for-3 with three singles, three walks, a pair of runs scored and an RBI.

    Advice: The 30-year-old outfielder led off the sixth inning with a single and rode home on Matt Chapman’s two-run blast. He then delivered the biggest hit of the game, smacking a game-tying two-out RBI single off of Colin Holderman in the ninth inning.   • Freddy Peralta handed tough-luck loss
    Freddy Peralta fired seven one-run innings on Wednesday striking out seven and walking one in a loss to the Marlins.

    Advice: Peralta’s only mistake was a 3-1 fastball to Jazz Chisholm in the first inning that wound up in the seats. Even in that at-bat Peralta missed some borderline pitches to fall behind. Still, he was fantastic Wednesday after scuffling to a 6.19 ERA May. He likely has better times ahead while his strikeout rate stays high and walk rate stays manageable.   • Jazz Chisholm hits solo homer in win
    Jazz Chisholm went 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Wednesday against the Brewers.

    Advice: Chisholm’s first-inning home run wound up being the only run scored in the pitcher’s duel between Jesús Luzardo and Freddy Peralta.
