    • Edwin Díaz hurls two scoreless innings vs. Cubs
Edwin Díaz hurled two scoreless innings against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: It comes in a non-save situation, but fantasy managers who roster Díaz get to see their ERA drop with the scoreless frames. He also picked up a pair of strikeouts, and that improves his K/BB to 19/4 over 12 2/3 innings. There really hasn’t been much — if any — rust to shake off for Díaz after missing all of 2023. • Provides lone run in loss
Contreras went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Contreras also struck out three times Wednesday, the third consecutive game he's done that. He'll likely be happy to put the Tigers in the rear-view mirror after going 1-for-13 with nine strikeouts during the three-game series in Detroit. That poor stretch has dropped Contreras to a .258/.373/.505 slash line on the year, and he's added five homers, 10 RBI, 14 runs scored, eight doubles and a stolen base through 110 plate appearances. Contreras has caught four of the Cardinals' last six games, so it appears he's managing his lingering soreness from a left hand injury fairly well. Rotowire.com Today, 9:55 am
    • Big night in win
Wong went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-2 win over San Francisco.

Advice: Wong has been a consistent producer at the dish, never going more than one game without a hit. The catcher, who recorded his eighth multi-hit game Wednesday, is slashing .366/.367/.620 through 75 plate appearances. Those numbers are sure to correct -- a .412 BABIP indicates that -- but Wong has improved his contact rate on pitches in the zone, jumping up to 84.2 percent compared to 74.3 percent in 2023. • Notches fourth homer
Cabrera went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a stolen base during Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Cabrera tagged Corbin Burnes for a two-run shot in the fifth inning, plating Jose Trevino for the Yankees' only runs. The long ball was Cabrera's first since April 13. His two hits were his first of the series, entering Wednesday's contest 0-for-7 in the first two games of the four-game bill. Through 110 plate appearances, Cabrera is slashing .262/.300/.417 with 18 RBI and two stolen bases. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:58 pm

    • Tagged with first loss
Burnes (3-1) took the loss Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk across six innings against the Yankees. He struck out six

Advice: All the damage against Burnes came in the fifth inning when Oswaldo Cabrera launched a two-run home run. Despite allowing three or fewer runs for a seventh straight start, Burnes was stuck with the loss Wednesday as the Orioles offense could only manage three total hits and didn't score. While Burnes has allowed a home run in six of his seven starts this season, he owns a 2.61 ERA over 41.1 innings with 41 strikeouts -- the sixth most in the American League. Burnes is lined up for a start against the Nationals on Tuesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:51 pm
    • Bounces back with quality start
Musgrove didn't factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits with nine strikeouts over six innings against the Reds.

Advice: After being tagged for seven runs and four long balls in his last start, Musgrove set a season high in strikeouts and notched his fourth quality start of the campaign. While three of the four hits did go for extra bases, including a first-inning solo homer by Spencer Steer, Musgrove was able to keep his opponent to less than three runs for the first time in four starts. Through eight starts, Musgrove owns a 2.2 HR/9 after having not allowed more than 1.1 HR/9 since 2017. He's tentatively scheduled for a start Tuesday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field. • Connor Wong collects three hits as Red Sox win
Connor Wong went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI on Wednesday, propelling the Red Sox to a 6-2 victory over the visiting Giants.

Advice: Wong started things in the fourth inning with a leadoff double off of Daulton Jefferies, then raced around to score on an RBI double by Enmanuel Valdez. He also drove in a run of his own with a two-out RBI double off of Mitch White in the seventh inning. The 27-year-old backstop has been sizzling at the dish as of late, hitting .366/.387/.620 with five homers and 14 RBI in 21 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:12 pm

    • Oswaldo Cabrera powers Yankees past Orioles
Oswaldo Cabrera swatted a two-run homer off of Corbin Burnes on Wednesday night, powering the Yankees to a 2-0 victory over the Orioles in Baltimore.

Advice: Cabrera accounted for the only scoring for either team in the ballgame, poking a 352-foot (103.3 mph EV) two-out, two-run homer just over the wall in right field and just inside the foul pole to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning. He also singled in the ballgame and swiped a base, finishing the night 2-for-3. On the season, the versatile 25-year-old is now hitting .262/.300/.417 with four homers, 18 RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:09 pm

    • Corbin Burnes logs quality start in loss to Yanks
Corbin Burnes logged a quality start in Wednesday’s loss to the Yankees, giving up just two runs on four hits over six strong innings of work.

Advice: The Orioles’ ace struck out six batters on the night while issuing only one base on balls. All of the damage done against him — and in the game — came on a two-out, two-run homer off the bat of Oswaldo Cabrera in the fifth inning that just barely stayed fair and creeped over the wall in right field. Burnes got 14 swings and misses on 95 pitches in the contest — seven of those on his slider — while registering an elite CSW of 34 percent. Now 3-1 on the season, he’ll carry an outstanding 2.61 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and a 41/9 K/BB ratio (41 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Nationals in Washington. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:09 pm
