      Advice: Melendez's fourth-inning blast gave the Royals a 4-0 lead before things turned south for them in the middle innings. May has been a rough month for Melendez, who has gone 12-for-69 (.174) with six extra-base hits over 23 contests in the month. His previous homer was April 19, and he now has five long balls on the year to go with 13 RBI, 14 runs scored, two stolen bases and a poor .176/.238/.346 slash line through 50 games.       Advice: Jeffers got Minnesota on the board with a two-run blast off Daniel Lynch in the fourth inning, cutting the Royals' lead to 4-2, before adding a solo shot in the fifth. The 26-year-old Jeffers is up to 12 homers on the year, just two shy of his career high, though he'd cooled off at the plate following a red-hot start to the year -- he'd gone 13 games without a long ball, going just 5-for-42 (.119) in that span.       Carlos Correa went 1-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and three RBI against the Royals on Thursday.

      Advice: Correa cleared the bases with a triple in the sixth inning that put the Twins ahead for good. Despite missing some time with an injury, he’s quietly having a nice season.       Advice: Jeffers continues to carry the Twins offense. The two-homer game puts him at 12 on the season now. Jeffers is hitting .254 with an .886 OPS on the year. As far as second catchers go, it doesn’t get much better than what he’s provided so far this season.

      Advice: Friedl was activated off the injured list Wednesday after successfully rehabbing a thumb injury. He resumed his roles as the team's starting center fielder and leadoff hitter. It's been a season of stops and starts thus far for Friedl, who was back only six games from a wrist injury when he injured the thumb.
