    • John Danks (shoulder) went 4 2/3 innings Saturday in his third minor league rehab start.
Advice: If everything checks out with the left-hander early this week, he should be cleared to join the White Sox starting rotation on Friday night against the Marlins. Danks has been on the shelf all year and makes for a decent waiver stash right now in AL-only fantasy leagues. Since he's coming off shoulder surgery and still rebuilding his arm strength, it might not be wise to trust him right out of the gate in standard mixed formats. Even against Miami.

    • John Danks (shoulder) could rejoin the White Sox' rotation next weekend.
Advice: Danks will make what could be his final rehab start with Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday. The left-hander holds a 3.00 ERA over three rehab outings, but he has a 10/9 K/BB ratio over 18 innings and his velocity remains down. Fantasy owners should take a wait-and-see approach, though he would get a nice first matchup against the Marlins if he returns next weekend.

    • Oscar Taveras (ankle) is expected to return to action at Triple-A Memphis by the middle of this week.
Advice: Taveras injured his right ankle last Sunday while attempting to steal second base. X-rays taken in the immediate aftermath showed no structural damage, but the Cardinals have understandably decided to play it safe with their top prospect. Taveras, 20, was batting .317 with an .831 OPS through his first 31 games this season for the Memphis Redbirds. He should reach the major league level at some point in 2013.

    • Sean Burnett reported no pain in his left forearm after playing catch on Sunday afternoon.
Advice: Burnett made his first minor league rehab appearance on Saturday and came out of it feeling fine. He is on track to return to the Angels' bullpen early this week.

    • Sean Burnett (forearm) will pitch in a minor league rehab game Saturday with High-A Inland Empire.
Advice: The hope is that one appearance will be enough for him to return from the disabled list Tuesday. Burnett has been sidelined since April 26 with left forearm irritation.

    • Sean Burnett (forearm) is expected to be activated from the disabled list next Tuesday.
Advice: Burnett threw off a mound Thursday for the first time since landing on the DL and had no issues. He'll go out on a short rehab assignment over the weekend.

    • Tigers recalled RHP Luke Putkonen from Triple-A Toledo.
Advice: Putkonen will provide some needed depth for the Detroit bullpen, which got heavy use this weekend in Texas. The right-hander will operate as a mid-to-long reliever.

    • David Murphy went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI in Sunday night's win over the Tigers.
Advice: With Ian Kinsler on the DL, the Rangers are using Elvis Andrus as their leadoff hitter and Murphy in the No. 2 spot. It's not exactly a deserved promotion after Murphy posted a .170/.215/.295 batting line in April, but there's not any other current options. Murphy appears to be finally healthy after missing time last week with a lower back injury.

    • Andrew Brown has been placed on the disabled list with Triple-A Las Vegas.
Advice: Brown suffered an oblique injury Sunday and is out indefinitely. He was considered the top candidate to replace the struggling Ike Davis, but is now looking at missing extended time. Mets GM Sandy Alderson insists that a demotion for Davis is "not imminent."

    • Gordon Beckham (hand) tallied three hits Sunday in his second rehab game with Triple-A Charlotte.
Advice: Beckham went 2-for-4 on Saturday in his rehab debut and is looking ready to rejoin the White Sox. But since he's been out so long -- over five weeks -- the second baseman will likely remain on the farm until Friday.

    • Gordon Beckham (hand) could be activated from the disabled list for the White Sox' series against the Marlins next weekend.
Advice: Beckham, who had surgery last month to remove the hamate bone from his left hand, will begin a rehab assignment on Saturday. The White Sox have been using Jeff Keppinger at second base and will welcome the defensive upgrade with Beckham.

    • Gordon Beckham (hand) hopes to begin a rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A Charlotte.
Advice: Beckham had surgery last month to remove the hamate bone from his left hand, but he has increased baseball activities in recent days and is ready to test himself in game action. He figures to rejoin the White Sox by the end of the month.

    • Tigers optioned RHP Evan Reed to Triple-A Toledo.
Advice: Reed allowed four hits and one earned run in four relief innings during his short stay with Detroit. The right-hander will probably get another try later this summer.

    • Tigers recalled RHP Evan Reed from Triple-A Toledo.
Advice: Reed has posted a 3.00 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 28/7 K/BB ratio in 21 innings this season at the Triple-A level. He should do well in a middle relief role for Detroit.

    • Andrew Cashner held the Nationals to three runs on seven hits over six-plus innings Sunday for his third win of the season.
Advice: He gave up just one walk and had six strikeouts. His lone mistake came on a two-run home run to Ryan Zimmerman in the fourth inning. Since converting to a starter, Cashner's fastball has averaged 94.8 mph, where he ranks second only to Stephen Strasburg. He's surrendered just four runs over his last 21 innings and remains a must-own in standard mixed fantasy leagues.

    • Michael Dunn nailed down his second career save in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.
Advice: Marlins manager Mike Redmond decided to pull closer Steve Cishek and go to Dunn with two on and lefty Miguel Montero coming up. Dunn walked Montero but then got A.J. Pollock to ground out after running the count full. With Cishek's struggles against left-handers this year, its possible Dunn could see the occasional save opportunity.

    • Daniel Hudson (elbow) gave up two runs on five hits over four innings in an extended spring training game on Friday.
Advice: It's the first time since last year's Tommy John surgery that Hudson has faced hitters wearing a different uniform. The D'Backs says the righty's fastball sat in the 91-93 mph range, which is obviously a good sign. "The light at the end of the tunnel is getting a little bit brighter now," Hudson said. Hudson will appear in another extended spring game next week and doesn't appear far off from a rehab assignment. He could be back as soon as late June if all goes well, though the big club doesn't currently have room for him in the rotation.

    • Julio Borbon has stolen three bases since he joined the Cubs last month.
Advice: Borbon hasn't been playing enough to warrant an update over the past month (he's logged more than two at-bats in a game just twice since the Cubs claimed him off waivers from the Rangers on April 19). If he can secure some playing time over the summer, Borbon will be useful in NL-only formats in the batting average and steals departments. Chicago has displayed no willingness to exercise their atrophying 27-year-old outfielder, however.

    • Everth Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI in Saturday's win against the Nationals.
Advice: Cabrera has now stolen a base in four consecutive games, bumping him to the National League leader with 15. The shortstop will never post a good batting average, but he's getting on base more and running as effectively as ever. The 26-year-old shortstop batted .246/.324/.324 with a league-leading 44 stolen bases last season and is a decent bet to improve upon all numbers in 2013.

    • Everth Cabrera went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and an RBI in Thursday's defeat at the hands of Washington.
Advice: Cabrera's 13 steals rank second in the National League. A better real-life than fantasy player, Cabrera's value comes in the form of his legs (steals and runs) and eyes (walks). He looks poised to have a career year.

    • Chris Tillman allowed three runs on just five hits and a walk over six innings in Sunday's loss to the Rays.
Advice: Tillman recorded four strikeouts. The right-hander put together his sixth straight quality start, but he was undone in this one by a pair of solo homers from Luke Scott and Matt Joyce. Tillman now sports a solid 3.52 ERA and 1.27 WHIP for the season and should remain in fantasy lineups for a matchup this weekend in Toronto.

    • Josh Reddick (wrist) has been taking some dry swings but is not ready to take batting practice yet.
Advice: Reddick is eligible to return from the disabled list on Wednesday, but that's not going to happen. It's possible the outfielder might eventually require surgery, but that point hasn't been reached yet. A timetable for his return remains up in the air.
