    • Bailey Falter leaves start with arm discomfort
The Pirates announced that Bailey Falter was removed from Saturday’s start against the Mets due to left posterior arm discomfort.

Advice: He’s currently being evaluated and treated by the Pirates’ medical team. Despite the vagaries of the diagnosis, anything related to the arm isn’t encouraging. The 27-year-old’s southpaw next start should be in question at a minimum and it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see him land on the injured list. The Pirates should have more information on his status at some point before Sunday’s series finale. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

    • Battling arm discomfort
Falter was removed from his start Saturday against the Mets due to left posterior arm discomfort.

Advice: Falter was only able to get through two innings before making an early exit, surrendering three earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two batters. The Pirates' medical staff will take him in for further testing, and the team will likely have a better idea of his availability for his next start once his results come back. • Twins release Jordan Balazovic for KBO opportunity
      Twins released RHP Jordan Balazovic.

Advice: The 25-year-old hurler has an opportunity to play with the Doosan Bears in the Korea Baseball Organization, so the Twins granted him his release so he can play overseas. Balazovic posted a 5.60 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 49/15 K/BB ratio over 35 1/3 innings at Triple-A St. Paul this season. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

    • Loses 40-man spot
The Royals designated Selby for assignment Saturday.

Advice: Selby will lose his spot on the Royals' 40-man roster in order to make room for Kris Bubic (elbow), who was reinstated from the 60-day IL on Saturday. Selby hasn't pitched in the majors since early May, and he has posted a 6.23 ERA alongside a 1.18 WHIP over 21.2 frames with Omaha. Rotowire.com 40 minutes ago

    • Royals designate Colin Selby for assignment
Royals designated RHP Colin Selby for assignment.

Advice: Someone needed to get the boot from the Royals’ 40-man roster to make room for the triumphant return of Kris Bubic (elbow) on Saturday and unfortunately Selby drew the short straw this time around. There’s a decent chance that he’ll slip through waivers unclaimed and continue to function as extra bullpen depth at Triple-A Omaha. Rotoworld 47 minutes ago

    • Back from injured list
The Royals reinstated Bubic (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Saturday.

Advice: Bubic has been on the injured list all season while working his way back from a Tommy John procedure he underwent last April. In nine rehab appearances with Triple-A Omaha, the 26-year-old lefty posted a 2.63 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 27.1 innings. He'll transition to the bullpen as he returns to Kansas City and will likely serve in a multi-inning relief role. Walter Pennington was optioned to Omaha in order to make room on the active roster, and Colin Selby was DFA'd to clear a 40-man spot. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago
    • Royals activate Kris Bubic (elbow) from 60-day IL
Royals activated LHP Kris Bubic from the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The 26-year-old southpaw will work out of the Royals’ bullpen for the time being as he continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery. Bubic logged 35 2/3 innings on his minor league rehab assignment, registering a 3.53 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 42/13 K/BB ratio. Walter Pennington was optioned to Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move on Saturday. Rotoworld 52 minutes ago
    • Bailey Falter pulled in third with apparent injury
Bailey Falter was pulled from Saturday’s start against the Mets in the third inning due to an apparent injury.

Advice: Falter delivered five straight balls in the third inning — including a walk of J.D. Martinez to load the bases — which prompted a visit from the training staff. After a quick consultation, the decision was made to remove Falter from the ballgame. He’ll head for further evaluation. Expect the Pirates to provide an update on his status before the game concludes. Rotoworld Today, 1:59 pm

    • Tyler Anderson tosses eight scoreless vs. Cubs
Tyler Anderson struck out ten batters over eight scoreless innings in a win over the Cubs on Saturday.

Advice: Anderson was masterful on Saturday, shutting the Cubs down over eight innings. He scattered three hits and did not walk a batter, tossing 66-of-98 pitches for strikes. Anderson induced an impressive 22 whiffs to strike out ten batters. The 34-year-old left-hander is having an excellent season, posting a 2.81 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 7747 K/BB ratio across 112 innings. He’ll take on the Mariners in Anaheim on Thursday. Rotoworld Today, 1:56 pm
