    • Runs bases with no issues
Manager Rob Thomson said Saturday that Harper (hamstring) had a "good day" running the bases and will run the bases again Sunday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Harper has been dealing with a low-grade hamstring strain since June 27 but has been progressing well enough to potentially return prior to the All-Star break. The 31-year-old was participating in on-field drills at 70-75 percent intensity earlier this week and is slated to run the bases again Sunday. Harper becomes eligible to come off the injured list Tuesday. Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago

    • Bryce Harper (hamstring) runs bases on Saturday
Bryce Harper (hamstring) ran the bases without any issues on Saturday.

Advice: In fact, the session went so well that the 31-year-old superstar is going to repeat the process on Sunday. Kyle Schwarber is expected to be activated from the injured list on Tuesday, and Harper isn’t expected to be far behind him. If Sunday’s session goes well, it’s not out of the question that he could be ready on Tuesday as well. The Phillies’ offense should be getting some strong reinforcements next week. • Throws 21 pitches Saturday
Bednar (oblique) threw 21 pitches in a live batting practice Saturday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Advice: Bednar utilized all three of his pitches in Saturday's session as he faced live batters for the first time in his rehab program. It's another positive step for the 29-year-old as he works his way back from a left oblique strain. Bednar appeared in 34 games before landing on the injured list June 23, earning 16 saves with a 5.17 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 32:7 K:BB across 31.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 12:55 pm

    • Tyler Freeman returns to lineup Saturday vs. Giants
Tyler Freeman (wrist) has returned to the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Giants.

Advice: Freeman is back in center field and batting seventh following a three-game absence due to lingering right wrist discomfort. Rotoworld Today, 10:27 am

    • Nabs steal No. 20
Thomas went 2-for-6 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's extra-innings loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: The 28-year-old stole a career-high 20 bags in 157 games last season, but Thomas has massively ramped up his aggressiveness on the basepaths in 2024. Through only 59 contests, he's already matched those 20 steals in 26 attempts. He's also regaining last year's form at the plate, and over his last 15 games he's slashing .266/.329/.469 with nine of his 17 hits (six doubles, two triples and a homer) going for extra bases. • David Bednar (oblique) faces hitters on Saturday
David Bednar (oblique) faced hitters on Saturday in a 20-pitch live batting practice session.

Advice: Bednar resumed playing catch earlier this week and continues to progress towards a return to Pittsburgh’s bullpen after hitting the injured list back in late June with a left oblique strain. There isn’t an official return timetable yet, but it seems possible he could head out on a minor league rehab assignment soon and return in a couple week after the All-Star break, barring any setbacks. • Clubs 22nd homer
Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's loss to the Phillies.

Advice: The veteran slugger got hold of a 98.4 mph two-seamer from Jose Alvarado in the eighth inning, driving it 409 feet over the fence in right field. Ozuna snapped an 11-game homer drought with the blast -- tied for his longest dry spell of the year -- and while he has slowed down after a blistering start to the season, he's still slashing .296/.377/.560 through 86 contests with 22 homers and 70 RBI, with the latter mark tying him for the NL lead with Alec Bohm. • Belts clutch homer Friday
Profar went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 10-8 win against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Profar's long ball was a big one, as it knotted up the score in the bottom of the ninth after Arizona had taken the lead with a six-run top of the frame. It also gave the outfielder two consecutive contests with a homer following a 19-game stretch during which he went deep just once. Profar is in the midst of his best big-league campaign, slashing .316/.409/.490 with 13 home runs, 57 RBI, 51 runs and five stolen bases over 364 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 7:20 am
    • Struggles continue Friday
Holmes blew his fifth save chance of the season in Friday's 5-3 extra-inning loss to the Red Sox, giving up two runs on two hits in the ninth inning without striking out a batter.

Advice: With two outs in the ninth and the Yankees holding a 3-1 lead, Holmes gave up a single to Dominic Smith before leaving a sinker over the middle of the plate that Masataka Yoshida blasted to right field for a game-tying homer. Holmes has been tagged for runs in five of seven appearances since his last save June 9, stumbling to a 10.80 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 6.2 innings over that stretch despite an 8:0 K:BB. His spot as the Yankees' closer doesn't seem to be in jeopardy yet, but the 31-year-old will likely need to right the ship before the trade deadline if he doesn't want New York shopping for his replacement.
