    • Back in lineup Saturday
Fraley (calf) is starting in right field and batting fourth Saturday against St. Louis.

Advice: Fraley missed three games after being scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to a bruised calf, but the issue has subsided ahead of Saturday's contest. The 29-year-old outfielder currently owns a career-best .277 batting average on the season; however, his .676 OPS represents his lowest mark since joining the Reds in 2022. • Jake Fraley returns to lineup Saturday vs. Cards
Jake Fraley (calf) is back in the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Cardinals.

Advice: Fraley is back at designated hitter and batting cleanup on Saturday afternoon following a three-game absence due to a right calf issue. It doesn’t sound like he’s going to wind up missing any additional time, but we’ll see. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:34 am
    • Dropped in order against lefty
Carroll batted seventh and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's 9-4 loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Carroll was dropped from the top of the order to seventh against a left-hander, though it's unclear if this was a specific adjustment for one game or part of a larger plan going forward against lefties. Carroll appeared to put a season-opening slump behind him earlier this month but was 3-for-22 (.136) over seven games entering Friday. It seems odd that manager Torey Lovullo would drop him after a one-week slump. More should be learned Saturday, when the A's scheduled starter is lefty Hogan Harris. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:00 am
    • Carves up Pirates in victory
Morton (5-4) earned the win Friday against Pittsburgh, throwing 6.1 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. He allowed three hits and one walk.

Advice: The 40-year-old looked sharp over a 104-pitch outing, generating 15 whiffs -- including seven on his curveball alone -- to collect seven punchouts. Morton wrapped a successful June, firing a 3.10 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 28:13 K:BB across 29 innings. The Atlanta right-hander is slated to face the Giants at home in his next start. • Charlie Morton excellent against Pirates in win
Charlie Morton held the Pirates scoreless through 6 1/3 innings on Friday in a 6-1 win. He struck out seven and walked one.

Advice: Morton made his old team pay on Friday night as he dropped curveball after curveball on Pittsburgh’s lineup. This was also the first time Morton walked one or fewer since May 10th against the Mets (pre-Grimace) as he flashed especially good command with his sparsely thrown cutter. • Expected to play Saturday
Fraley (calf) is expected to be back in the lineup Saturday at St. Louis, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Fraley has missed two consecutive contests with a right calf contusion, but he's on track to return Saturday. Santiago Espinal has drawn starts at DH in Fraley's place. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:47 pm
    • Padres transfer Joe Musgrove to 60-day IL
Padres transferred RHP Joe Musgrove to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Nothing has changed in the prognosis for the 31-year-old hurler, this was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for Austin Davis to join the bullpen on Friday. Musgrove continues to recover from a bone spur in his right elbow and has been throwing off of flat ground in recent days. Rotoworld Friday, 1:15 pm

    • Moved to 60-day IL
Musgrove (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.

Advice: Transferring Musgrove to the 60-day IL opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for Austin Davis, who'll join the big-league roster. Though Musgrove began playing catch Monday, he still has plenty of checkpoints to hit before being cleared and likely won't be back in action until after the All-Star break. • Remaining out of lineup
Fraley (calf) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: With no MRI results reported yet on Fraley's calf contusion, he'll remain out of the lineup as Cincinnati opens up a series against St. Louis. Santiago Espinal will again start at designated hitter and bat sixth. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:10 pm
