    • Activated, starting Tuesday
Mateo (concussion) was reinstated from the 7-day injured list and is starting at shortstop Tuesday against Atlanta, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The 28-year-old is back on Baltimore's active roster after missing little more than the seven-day minimum due to a concussion. Mateo has a .741 OPS with three homers and 10 steals through 42 contests this season and was operating as the Orioles' primary second baseman prior to the stint on the injured list. • Tuesday return possible
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Mateo (concussion) won't be reinstated from the 7-day injured list when first eligible Monday but could be activated Tuesday, Jake Rill of MLB.comreports.

Advice: The 28-year-old suffered the concussion June 2 against Tampa Bay and was able to ramp up his baseball work this weekend. Mateo won't be ready after spending the 7-day minimum on the shelf, but it appears his absence won't extend much beyond that. Rotowire.com Sunday, 2:06 pm

    • Jorge Mateo (concussion) will not return on Monday
Orioles’ manager Brandon Hyde told reporters on Sunday that Jorge Mateo (concussion) will not be activated from the injured list when first eligible on Monday.

Advice: Hyde did note though that Mateo could be ready to go on Tuesday. Connor Norby has been filling in at second base in his absence, so it’ll be interesting to see how the Orioles reconstitute their roster when Mateo is eventually activated and how the playing time shakes out. • Mateo (concussion) takes grounders before game
Jorge Mateo (concussion) took part in infield practice prior to Sunday’s game against the Rays.

Advice: Mateo is eligible to come off the 7-day concussion injured list before Monday’s game against the Rays. The infielder obviously isn’t required to be activated off the list, but participating in pre-game activities is a good sign. If Mateo is activated, Connor Norby is all but assuredly the name that will head down to Triple-A to make room for him on the roster. Rotoworld Sunday, 9:27 am

    • Sitting as expected Sunday
Hoerner (hand) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Cincinnati.

Advice: The 27-year-old was diagnosed with a small fracture in his hand Saturday after being hit by a pitch Thursday, so it's not a surprise he's sitting for the series finale versus the Reds. Hoerner won't necessarily require a trip to the injured list, and he may be able to play through the injury once the swelling subsides. Michael Busch will handle the keystone Sunday for the Cubs. • Nico Hoerner (hand) out again Sunday vs. Reds
Nico Hoerner (hand) is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Reds.

Advice: Hoerner is dealing with a small fracture in his right hand, and he won’t be able to play until the pain and swelling are able to subside. While Hoerner is out, Michael Busch will handle second base duties. Hoerner should be considered day-to-day, but a trip to the injured list can’t be ruled out just yet. Rotoworld Sunday, 8:01 am

    • Drives offense in big win
Bichette went 2-for-4 with a walk, two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI in Saturday's 7-0 win over the A's.

Advice: The shortstop is heating up again, collecting four doubles among his seven hits over the last six games. Bichette's sluggish start to the season is fading in the rearview mirror -- over his last 24 contests, he's batting .302 (29-for-96) with two homers, eight doubles, eight runs and 14 RBI. • Counsell: Nico Hoerner has small fracture in hand
Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters Saturday that Nico Hoerner has been diagnosed with a small fracture in his right hand.

Advice: Counsell added that team doctors are comfortable with Hoerner returning to action if the pain and swelling subside in his right hand. It sounds like the club is going to take a few additional days before making a decision on whether he’ll require a trip to the injured list. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. • Diagnosed with hand fracture
Manager Craig Counsell said Saturday that Hoerner has a small fracture in his hand, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Counsell noted that the team's doctors are comfortable with Hoerner playing through his injury once the swelling subsides, and the Cubs will wait a few days to see how his hand recovers before deciding on a potential IL move. Meanwhile, David Bote figures to see regular action at second base while Hoerner is sidelined. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:43 am
