    • Strikes out 10
Gore (6-5) earned the win Friday over the Marlins, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out 10.

Advice: Gore was excellent Friday, holding Miami to a lone second-inning run en route to his fourth win in his last five starts. It's the third double-digit strikeout outing for Gore this year as he lowered his ERA to 3.24 with a 1.32 WHIP and 91:23 K:BB through 14 starts (75 innings) this season. The left-hander is currently in line for a home matchup with the Diamondbacks in his next outing. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago
    • MacKenzie Gore strikes out 10 in seven innings
MacKenzie Gore struck out 10 Marlins across seven innings in an 8-1 win on Friday night. He allowed just one earned run and walked one batter. He earned the win.

Advice: Gore was downright dazzling in this one. He challenged the Marlins again and again with his fastball high in the zone and they swung and missed at it 12 times in 35 tries. His heater is special sitting 96 MPH from the left side with tons of ride. He’s put an emphasis on throwing it up in the zone this season and that has helped him reach new heights. This was his third start so far with double-digit punch outs and he’s allowed more than three earned runs just once. His breakout is indisputable at this point. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago
    • Scratched Friday
Cruz was scratched from the Pirates' lineup ahead of Friday's game versus Colorado due to left ankle soreness, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Advice: Cruz was initially slated to start at shortstop during Friday's series opener, but it will instead be Jared Triolo making his first career start at short while Cruz takes a day to recover from a tweaked ankle he suffered during Thursday's contest. Rotowire.com Today, 5:12 pm

    • Oneil Cruz (ankle) scratched from lineup on Friday
Oneil Cruz was scratched from the Pirates’ starting lineup on Friday night due to a sore ankle.

Advice: Cruz tweaked his ankle again while running the bases during Thursday’s game and just wasn’t quite ready to give it a go on Friday night. He’s considered day-to-day. Jared Triolo will start in his place at shortstop and bat eighth for the Pirates at Coors Field on Friday evening. Rotoworld Today, 5:08 pm

    • Still not doing on-field work
Tucker (lower leg) won't play in Saturday's game against Detroit and has yet to participate in on-field activities, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Advice: There was initially optimism that Tucker would be able to return once eligible Friday, but a return doesn't seem imminent considering the 27-year-old hasn't resumed baseball activities yet and has already been ruled out for Saturday's game. The Astros could keep Tucker out through the weekend and activate him for a three-game road series against the White Sox that kicks off Tuesday. Rotowire.com Today, 2:20 pm

    • Kyle Tucker (shin) won’t be ready on Saturday
Astros’ manager Joe Espada told reporters on Friday that Kyle Tucker (shin) will not be ready to be activated from the injured list on Saturday.

Advice: While he noted that Tucker is “moving in the right direction” he also admitted that Tucker is not doing baseball activities yet. While a return at some point over the weekend hasn’t been ruled out yet, it seems unlikely if he’s not doing any baseball activities yet. A more likely scenario has the 27-year-old superstar outfielder returning to action next week. Rotoworld Today, 2:10 pm

    • Good to go Friday
Arenado (hand) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Friday against the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: The 33-year-old had X-rays come back negative on his right hand after being hit by a pitch Thursday, and he's apparently fine given he's back in the lineup a day later. Arenado is 8-for-20 with two doubles and two RBI in his past five games, and he has a .273/.340/.386 slash line through 12 contests in June. Rotowire.com Today, 8:33 am

    • Drives in two in loss
Cruz went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: The 25-year-old shortstop tied up the game with a two-run single off Lance Lynn in the fifth inning, but that finished the scoring for Pittsburgh. Cruz now has eight RBI over his last seven games, and his batting average in June is a solid .286. He will carry a .248/.300/.432 slash line with nine home runs and 28 RBI into a weekend series at Colorado. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:01 pm

    • X-rays negative on Nolan Arenado’s right hand
X-rays came back negative on Nolan Arenado’s right hand.

Advice: Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol told reporters Arenado is day-to-day with a bone bruise in his right hand. The 33-year-old third baseman, who finished 0-for-4 on Thursday afternoon, appears to have avoided serious injury after being hit by a pitch on the back of his right hand while striking out swinging during his final at-bat. He might require a couple games off to let the pain and swelling subside, but it doesn’t appear he’s facing an extended absence. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:45 pm
