      Advice: While he mostly kept traffic off the bases, a two-run double by Royce Lewis (groin) in the third inning and a solo shot by Manuel Margot in the fifth helped deny Skubal his 10th win of the year. The southpaw did collect his 12th quality start of the season, and he'll take a 2.45 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 119:20 K:BB through 103 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Cincinnati.     • Falls apart late
      Berrios (8-6) picked up the win Tuesday against Houston, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks with one strikeout across five innings. He also hit a batter.

      Advice: Berrios kept the Astros off the scoreboard until the fifth inning, where he unwound and allowed three singles, a hit-by-pitch and a three-run home run. Still, Berrios was able to snare a second straight win as the Blue Jays had compiled seven runs prior to the fifth. The 30-year-old has been shaky as of late, owning a 5.97 ERA with 17 strikeouts and eight home runs allowed over his last five starts. He's scheduled to face the Mariners on Sunday.     • Grayson Rodriguez strikes out eight to defeat M’s
      Grayson Rodriguez was exceptional in Tuesday night’s victory over the Mariners, racking up eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball.

      Advice: The 24-year-old budding superstar scattered just two hits and four walks on the evening. Only once did the Mariners advance a runner past second base on Rodriguez in this one, and that came with two outs in the sixth inning before Rodriguez punched out Cal Raleigh to end the threat. He generated a whopping 19 swings and misses on 104 pitches on the night, posting a strong CSW of 32 percent. Now 10-3 on the season, Rodriguez will carry a 3.45 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 97/29 K/BB ratio (88 2/3 innings) into battle against the Athletics in Oakland on Sunday. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:23 pm

      Rodriguez (10-3) allowed two hits and four walks while striking out eight over 6.1 scoreless innings to earn the win over the Mariners on Tuesday.

      Advice: This was just the second time in his last seven starts that Rodriguez walked multiple batters, but that was virtually the only flaw in his performance Tuesday. It was also his third scoreless outing of the year. Rodriguez is now at a 3.45 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 97:29 K:BB through 88.2 innings over 15 starts. The right-hander is tentatively projected for a home start versus the Cubs for his next appearance if the Orioles go to a six-man rotation, though he could move up to pitch on regular rest at Oakland on Sunday if Baltimore elects to work with five starters.       Keller (9-5) took the loss against the Cardinals on Tuesday, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits and no walks over five innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: Keller was burned by the long ball, surrendering a two-run home run in the second inning and a grand slam in the fourth. After completing at least six frames in eight consecutive starts from May 6 to June 19, the righty has now failed to do so in his past two outings.     • Jose Berrios falters late in win over Astros
      Jose Berrios allowed five runs on five hits in five innings in a win over the Astros on Tuesday.

      Advice: Berrios kept the Astros off the scoreboard for the first four innings, but the fifth inning was a bit of a disaster. The inning started with a hit by pitch and then a walk and then was followed by two singles and a home run to push five runs across the plate and end his day. The veteran has a 3.63 ERA on the year, but his underlying metrics suggest some regression is coming. Still, he should be able to survive a showdown against the Mariners this weekend.     • Skubal strikes out seven in loss to Twins
      Tarik Skubal allowed three earned runs and four hits over six innings while striking out seven in Tuesday’s loss to the Twins.

      Advice: Skubal pitched two scoreless innings to start the game but ran into trouble in the third inning. After striking out Willi Castro to start the frame, Skubal allowed back-to-back singles to Kyle Farmer and Manuel Margot before Royce Lewis eventually doubled to bring both runners around to score. He would later give up a solo homer to Margot in the fifth inning but returned to pitch a scoreless sixth before being pulled for Will Vest. Skubal has allowed seven earned runs over his last 17 innings pitched while posting a 21:4 K:BB ratio. The lefty didn’t get saddled with the loss in this one and will look to pick up his 10th win of the season on Sunday against the Reds. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:09 pm
       
    • Mitch Keller undone by home runs in loss
      Mitch Keller allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits in five innings in a loss to the Cardinals on Tuesday.

      Advice: Keller allowed eight hard-hit baseballs, including two home runs that accounted for five of the runs Keller allowed. He struck out five and walked nobody on the day, posting a 24 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW. Even though Keller has been performing better of late, there’s not much in the underlying numbers that suggests he’s become a different pitcher. He relies heavily on his cutter for success, and while that pitch was good tonight, the rest of his offerings didn’t miss a ton of bats.     • Jordan Montgomery hits IL with knee inflammation
      Diamondbacks placed LHP Jordan Montgomery on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 29, with right knee inflammation.

      Advice: Arizona had to come up with something here since Montgomery badly needs to press the reset button on the metaphorical console. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters that injury occurred during a bullpen session over the weekend and he doesn’t expect it to be an extended absence. The 31-year-old southpaw’s Arizona debut has gone about as poorly as one could imagine with a bloated 6.44 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 45/23 K/BB ratio across 65 2/3 innings (13 starts).
