    • Corbin Carroll gets a day off on Thursday
      Corbin Carroll is not in the Diamondbacks lineup on Thursday against the Nationals.

      Advice: Carroll has turned things around a bit in June, hitting .290 over 16 games with four steals and 17 runs scored. However, the power is not coming back yet. He has zero home runs in June and has just five RBI now that he has moved back up in the lineup for the Diamondbacks. You’re certainly not mad at his stats this month, but there shouldn’t be an expectation that the power will reemerge.       Carroll is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

      Advice: Carroll has finally heated up at the dish in reaching base 25 times while adding four stolen bases over his last 12 contests. He'll get some rest Thursday, however, as the Nationals send tough left-hander MacKenzie Gore to the hill. Additionally, Carroll recently overcame a left side injury, so the Diamondbacks were presumably keen on giving him some maintenance. Jake McCarthy will play center field in Thursday's series finale.       Carroll batted second and went 1-for-4 with a double in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Nationals.

      Advice: Carroll had been dropped to the lower third of the order against left-handers a couple of weeks ago, but he was moved back to the top third Wednesday.       Henderson went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, two stolen bases and two runs scored in Wednesday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Yankees.

      Advice: Henderson has gone 16-for-51 (.314) with three home runs and three steals during his 12-game hitting streak. While he's struck out 16 times over that span, he's still making enough contact to be a huge positive atop the Orioles' lineup. For the season, the star shortstop is at a .273/.371/.582 slash line with a career-best 11 steals as well as 22 homers, 49 RBI and 59 runs scored over 72 contests.       Hader allowed one hit in a scoreless inning while striking out one batter to earn a save against the White Sox on Wednesday.

      Advice: It was a relatively easy outing for Hader, who entered in the ninth with Houston ahead by three runs. The veteran closer allowed a one-out single but was never in serious trouble.       Kimbrel (5-2) earned the win and blew a save against the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits with a strikeout in the ninth inning.

      Advice: Kimbrel was called upon to protect a 5-4 lead in the ninth inning but allowed a leadoff double by Anthony Volpe and a game-tying single by Giancarlo Stanton. He was able to keep the game tied and the Yankees won in the 10th inning to earn Kimbrel the win. Until Wednesday, Kimbrel had not allowed an earned run since May 8 or blown a save since April 28.       Craig Kimbrel allowed one run on two hits on Wednesday. He struck out one, blew the save, but wound up grabbing the win.

      Josh Hader tossed a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout to record the save against the White Sox on Wednesday.

      Advice: Hader was summoned to close out the game with a three-run lead in the ninth against the White Sox. He worked around a base hit, striking out one batter to end the game with his tenth save of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:43 pm
       
    • Bypassed in save opportunity
      Neris was not used to close out Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Giants, with Colten Brewer getting the save instead.

      Advice: Neris took the loss and blew a save against the Giants on Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) in an inning of work, and he's allowed a total of seven earned runs over his last three outings. The veteran's ERA has climbed to 4.73 as a result of his recent struggles, and he's blown four saves this year in 14 chances. Chicago manager Craig Counsell said following Monday's game that he didn't plan on making a change at closer, according to James Neveau of Yahoo Sports, but this situation could be fluid.
