    • Luis Rengifo exits game with hand injury Wednesday
Luis Rengifo was removed from Wednesday night’s battle against the Athletics in the ninth inning due to an apparent hand injury.

Advice: Rengifo appeared to injure his hand while swinging the bat on a foul ball in the ninth inning. Whatever the issue is, it was substantial enough to pull him from the game in the middle of an at-bat. The Angels should have an update on Rengifo’s status prior to Thursday’s series finale. • Exits with injury
Rengifo was removed from Wednesday's game versus Oakland due to an apparent injury, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Rengifo's hand/wrist seemed to be bothering him after he fouled off a pitch in the ninth inning, and he was immediately replaced at the plate following the incident. The specifics of his injury remain unknown, but the Angels will presumably take him in for imaging and should offer more information ahead of Thursday's game. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:58 pm

    • Isaac Paredes clobbers first inning homer
Isaac Paredes went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks on Wednesday against the Royals.

Advice: Paredes started this game by smashing a changeup from Michael Wacha beyond the left field fence. Shockingly he pulled yet another home run right next to the left field foul pole. The long ball was a welcome sight as these past few weeks have felt like his longest cold streak since breaking out with the Rays two years ago. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:14 pm

    • Bobby Witt Jr. on base three times in win
Bobby Witt Jr. went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI, two runs scored, and a walk on Wednesday against the Rays.

Advice: Witt paced the Royals in this one and was the engine for their offense. His third inning double got them on the board and a key walk in the seventh set Salvador Perez up for his huge two-run single to put this game out of reach. Witt remains one of the most productive and dependable players in baseball with a .314/.366/.543 slash line to go along with 13 home runs and 22 stolen bases. That’s not a bad first half for a 24-year-old. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:13 pm

    • Jared Jones exits Wednesday start with lat strain
Jared Jones was removed from Wednesday’s start against the Cardinals after five innings due to a right lat strain.

Advice: The assumption when Jones was pulled after just 78 pitches was that it was simply another way for the Pirates to manage the 22-year-old hurler’s workload, but it sounds like there was an injury issue at play as well. Jones told reporters after the game that he wasn’t too concerned about it, but the Pirates aren’t going to take any unnecessary risks with him. His availability for next week’s start against the Mets is completely in the air at this point. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:04 pm

    • Exits with strained lat
Jones was removed from his start Wednesday versus St. Louis due to a right lat strain, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Jones managed to get through five innings of one-run ball while striking out five batters and walking two before coming out of Wednesday's contest. The 22-year-old said after the game that he could have kept pitching if necessary, but the team opted for a cautious approach in order to prevent his injury from worsening. Pittsburgh will keep an eye on Jones' lat as his next start approaches, but the initial level of concern seems relatively low. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:01 pm

    • Jared Jones completes five frames vs. Cardinals
Jared Jones struck out five and yielded one run over five innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Cardinals.

Advice: Pittsburgh continues to carefully manage their prized rookie right-hander’s workload this season as Jones was limited to just 78 pitches (52 strikes) over five innings in this one after spinning seven innings on 94 pitches his last time out against the Rays. The 22-year-old rookie sensation generated 10 swinging strikes, with eight of those coming on his slider alone, and finished with a solid 33 percent CSW. He’ll bring a strong 3.56 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 98/27 K/BB ratio across 91 innings (16 starts) into a home outing on Monday against the Mets in his penultimate start prior to the Midsummer Classic. • Receiving Wednesday off
O'Hoppe is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: O'Hoppe is in the midst of a modest six-game hit streak and has gone 8-for-19 with two homers and three walks during that span, but he'll sit Wednesday after making five straight starts. Matt Thaiss will step in behind the plate to catch for righty Davis Daniel. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:41 pm

    • Sitting versus lefty
Marsh is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Advice: Southpaw Shota Imanaga is taking the mound Wednesday for Chicago, and the lefty-hitting Marsh will head to the bench. Johan Rojas will start in center field and bat eighth in Marsh's place. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:18 pm
