    • Absent from lineup
Caballero (illness) is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus Atlanta.

Advice: Caballero was removed from Friday's series opener due to an illness and he'll remain on the bench to start Saturday's contest. Brandon Lowe will draw the start at second base and bat second against Atlanta. Rotowire.com 59 minutes ago

    • Deployed in eighth inning
Munoz walked one and struck out three in a scoreless and hitless eighth inning to earn a hold in Friday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Munoz has been dealing with a back issue for most of June, but he's still seen high-leverage work when available. In fact, Munoz was deployed in the eighth inning Friday to face the top of the Rangers' lineup, while Ryne Stanek got the call in the ninth and earned the save. Munoz has picked up three holds and a loss over his last four outings, but it seems this is less about easing the right-hander back from injury and more about a matchups-based approach to the late innings for now. Should Seattle switch to a closer committee, it appears Stanek is set to pick up a larger share of the saves. Munoz remains a strong option as well -- he has a 1.55 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 41:10 K:BB with 12 saves and six holds through 29 innings this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:32 pm
    • Turns in quality start
Stone allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Royals on Friday.

Advice: Stone's three-start winning streak was snapped, but he picked up his first quality start over three outings in June. The right-hander has been steady this year -- this was just the fourth time in 13 starts he's given up three runs. He's now at a 3.01 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 56:23 K:BB over 74.2 innings. Stone is projected to make his next start at Colorado. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:44 pm

    • Gavin Stone surrenders three over seven vs. KC
Gavin Stone didn’t factor into the decision Saturday against the Royals after allowing three runs over seven innings with three strikeouts.

Advice: Stone allowed four hits and walked two while throwing 61-of-94 pitches in the strike zone. The 25-year-old allowed all three runs on a long roundtripper by Salvador Perez. Minus that gaffe, it was another solid start for Stone against a pretty tough Kansas City lineup. He’s currently scheduled to face the Rockies on Thursday in Colorado. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm

    • Back in win column
Gil (9-1) picked up the win Friday over the Red Sox, allowing one run on four hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Gil struggled with command a bit Friday, though he'd manage to limit Boston to a lone fourth-inning run en route to his ninth win this season. The 26-year-old Gil allowed three runs in his last outing against the Dodgers, though he's now held opponents to one run or fewer in eight of his last nine starts. Gil's ERA is down to 2.03 with a 0.98 WHIP and 96:39 K:BB across 80 innings this year. He's currently slated for a road matchup with the Orioles in his next outing. • Big night vs. former team
Verdugo went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and four total RBI in Friday's 8-1 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: It was a memorable return to Fenway Park for Verdugo, who belted a two-run homer on the first pitch he saw in the first inning from Brayan Bello before driving in two more runs later in the game. It was the first homer since May 29 for Verdugo -- he's up to nine long balls on the season, just four shy of his career high. Overall, the 28-year-old outfielder is slashing .266/.319/.438 with 41 RBI and 35 runs scored through 69 games this year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:09 pm

    • Fans seven in win
Sale (9-2) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks over seven innings Friday, striking out seven and earning a win over the Rays.

Advice: Sale coughed up a run before recording an out in the first inning but settled in for a strong quality start in the win. He forced 17 swinging strikes, including 12 on the slider. It was Sale's second consecutive quality start and sixth in his last seven appearances. The veteran lefty has posted a 2.60 ERA over 45 innings during that span. For the season, he owns a 2.98 ERA with a 99:13 K:BB through 13 outings. Sale's next start is lined up to be on the road against the Yankees. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:51 pm

    • Alex Verdugo exacts revenge in return to Fenway
Alex Verdugo exacted revenge in his return to Fenway Park on Friday night, going 3-for-5 with a homer, double and four RBI as the Yankees vanquished the Red Sox 8-1.

Advice: Verdugo brought the pain on the first pitch that he saw in his former home park, blasting a 406-foot (104.0 mph EV) two-run shot to give the Yankees an early 2-0 lead that they wouldn’t relinquish. He also added an RBI double in the fifth inning that made it a 4-1 ballgame and capped off the scoring with a two-out RBI single in the ninth inning. With his three-hit attack, the 28-year-old outfielder is now hitting .266/.319/.438 to go along with nine homers and 40 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:48 pm

    • Luis Gil defeats Red Sox to improve to 9-1
Luis Gil picked up his ninth victory of the season on Friday night, limiting the Red Sox to just one run on four hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: Gil racked up six strikeouts on the evening while allowing four walks. The lone tally against him in the ballgame came on a run-scoring double off the bat of Enmanuel Valdez in the fourth inning. Otherwise, he was locked in and able to make big pitches when he needed to in order to escape trouble. Gil generated 13 whiffs on 104 pitches in the contest — nine of them on his fastball — while posting a CSW of 26 percent. Now 9-1 on the year, he’ll bring an impressive 2.03 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and a 96/39 K/BB ratio (79 2/3 innings) into Friday’s showdown against the Braves. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:48 pm
