      Advice: Caballero looked to be the odd man out when Taylor Walls returned from the injured list, but he's started in three straight games and four of the Rays' last five games. In part, that's because Brandon Lowe (toe) has been sidelined, though the Rays have also played Caballero at third base and shortstop during his recent uptick in playing time.       Castro went 2-for-4 with a double, a two-run home run and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over Arizona while also being hit by a pitch.

      Advice: Castro was hit by a pitch in his second at-bat and responded with a leadoff double on the first pitch in his next trip to the plate, before then coming home on a double from Trevor Larnach. The shortstop would add a two-run homer in the fifth to increase Minnesota's lead to seven runs, giving him two homers over his last five games. Castro has also hit safely in nine straight, posting multiple hits in five of those contests. He's batting .405 (15-for-37) over that stretch with eight RBI and nine runs scored.       Advice: Fedde got off to a rough start, surrendering a leadoff home run to Shohei Ohtani to open the game before getting tagged for another three runs in the third. The right-handed veteran would allow just one more hit over his final three frames, but the damage had already been done as the White Sox's offense failed to provide any run support. Fedde has now gone at least six innings in four consecutive starts and hasn't walked more than one batter in any of his six outings this month.       Advice: Stone was spectacular Wednesday, matching his season high with seven strikeouts en route to recording the first complete game of his major-league career. The right-hander retired the side in order in five of his nine frames and didn't allow a runner to reach second base outside of a leadoff double from Gavin Sheets to open the second. Stone has now won each of his last five decisions (spanning six starts) and has also posted at least six strikeouts in five of his last six outings.       Gil (9-3) took the loss against the Mets on Wednesday, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two batters over 4.1 innings.

      Advice: Gil was stung by both hard hits and walks -- three of the four knocks he allowed went for extra bases, and he also surrendered four free passes. His final two walks were particularly detrimental, as both runners came around to score following his departure. Gil has now put forward two straight poor outings, giving up 12 runs over 5.2 innings across his past two starts. He had a 2.02 ERA and was being mentioned in discussions about AL Cy Young Award contenders after a June 14 win against Boston, but his subsequent struggles have increased is ERA by over a run to 3.15.       Jose Miranda went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI, and a run scored in the Twins’ 8-3 win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

      Advice: With the bases loaded in the second inning, Miranda put the Twins on top with a bases-clearing double off of Ryne Nelson to bring in three runs. He knocked a base hit in the third, then doubled once again in the fifth before scoring on a home run by Willi Castro. Miranda walked in the ninth to reach for the fourth time.       Willi Castro went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

      Advice: After getting hit by a pitch in the second inning, Castro led off the fourth with a double before scoring on a double by Trevor Larnach. Castro then took Brandon Hughes deep for a two-run homer in the fifth to extend the Twins lead.     • Luis Gil struggles again in loss
      Luis Gil labored through 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday against the Mets. He allowed five earned runs with four walks and just two strikeouts.

      Advice: There’s been a hard shift in Gil’s season over the past week. He gave up 18 ER in his first 80 innings and 12 ER in his last 5 2/3 frames. He looked uncomfortable and weirdly enough, these last two starts he threw his lowest percentage of fastballs and two of his three highest percentages of changeups in any start this season. It’s important to note that he threw only 136 2/3 innings between 2021 and 2023, so the 85 2/3 he’s already thrown this season are already substantial given his lengthy injury history.
