    • Garcia hits RBI triple in win over Guardians
Maikel Garcia went 1-for-4 with a run scored, a triple, and an RBI against the Guardians on Thursday.

Advice: Garcia tied the game at one with an RBI triple in the sixth inning and came around to score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Vinnie Pasquantino. Those were the only runs the Royals scored on the night, but it was enough to squeak out a 2-1 victory. Garcia needs to have more of an impact if he’s going to retain his spot atop the Kansas City lineup for the rest of the season. He’s hitting .232 with a .629 OPS on the season. • Garcia blasts 15th home run in loss Thursday
Adolis Garcia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Orioles on Thursday.

Advice: Garcia’s home run was his 15th of the season. It hasn’t been Garcia’s best season, but he’s showing what it means to possess a solid floor. He’s only hitting .219, but he’s still on pace for around 30 home runs with 15 stolen bases and run totals in the mid-80s. Even though Garcia isn’t repeating the monster season he produced last year, he’s still carving out a pretty nice year for himself.

    • Sale strikes out 11 in hard-luck loss to former team
Chris Sale struck out 11 over seven innings of one-run baseball, but picked up a loss Thursday as the White Sox beat Atlanta 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader.

Advice: Sale was facing his former team in the White Sox, and while he gets credited for the loss, it was a dominant effort for the 35-year-old. The only blemish came when he gave up a solo homer to Luis Robert Jr. in the first, and he allowed just three more hits while missing plenty of bats. It’s the third time Sale has picked up double-digit strikeouts — the 11 are a season high — and he’s now the owner of a 2.79 ERA and 118/17 K/BB over 15 starts. He gets the Giants next. • Scratched from Thursday's lineup
Stephenson was scratched from Thursday's lineup against the Cardinals, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Stephenson was scratched moments before first pitch to be present for the birth of his child. He'll likely be placed on the paternity list and will miss between one and three additional games. Luke Maile took over behind the dish. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:55 pm

    • Tyler Stephenson scratched from Thursday’s lineup
Tyler Stephenson was scratched from the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Stephenson left the club on Thursday evening to be with his pregnant wife, according to a team statement. There’s a strong possibility he’s away from the team for the next couple days. It’ll be Luke Maile handling the catching duties in his absence. Austin Wynns would most likely come back up from Triple-A Louisville, if he’s gone more than a day or two. • Daulton Varsho returns to lineup on Thursday
Daulton Varsho (back) returned to the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Yankees.

Advice: Varsho is back in center field and batting seventh on Thursday evening following a four-game absence due to an ongoing back issue. The hope here is that the extra time off out of an abundance of caution is enough to prevent the issue from becoming an even greater concern. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:09 pm

    • Back in lineup
Varsho is starting in center field and batting seventh Thursday against the Yankees.

Advice: Varsho tweaked his back during Saturday's loss and has had to sit out the Blue Jays' last three games, but he seems to be feeling better ahead of Thursday's matchup. The 27-year-old outfielder went just 1-for-19 with six strikeouts across his last five games prior to getting hurt. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:56 pm

    • Nolan Gorman takes a seat on Thursday
Nolan Gorman is not in the Cardinals’ starting lineup on Thursday.

Advice: With the Cardinals facing a lefty, Gorman will head to the bench and the team will turn to Jose Fermin at second base. Gorman has been a good source of power this season with 16 home runs, but he’s also hitting .191 on the season with a 36 percent strikeout rate and has been worse in June with a .148 average and 38 percent strikeout rate in 24 games. However, he also has four steals in June, which has saved his fantasy value a bit, but he’s hard to roster in batting average leagues if you have ample power because of the drain he puts on your team with his average. • Resting versus LHP
Gorman isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Gorman and his .596 OPS against southpaws will take a seat Thursday as the Reds prepare to send lefty Andrew Abbott to the mound. Jose Fermin will take over at second base and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:30 pm
