    • Lugo gets 10th win after six strong vs. Dodgers
      Seth Lugo gave up two runs in six innings to get a win against the Dodgers on Saturday.

      Advice: The victory is already the 10th of the season for Lugo. The right-hander allowed a two-run single to Gavin Lux in the fourth, but outside of that he handled the Dodgers lineup without many issues. He scattered six hits allowed while walking just one and striking out four. Lugo has been excellent in 2024, and it’d be a surprise if he wasn’t an All-Star at this point.     • Brandon Nimmo has two hits, two RBI in win
      Brandon Nimmo went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI in a win over the Padres.

      Advice: Nimmo got the scoring going with an RBI double in the fourth inning and then tacked on an extra run with an RBI single in the eighth.       Kodai Senga (shoulder) threw around 30 pitches in a successful two-inning bullpen session on Saturday.

      Advice: He’ll throw another bullpen early next week and if all goes well with that session, it sounds like Senga will finally be cleared to face live hitters. He’s still going to need several minor league rehab starts before he’s an option to join the Mets’ rotation, but he’s at least taking small steps in the right direction.       Senga (shoulder/triceps) threw a two-inning bullpen session Saturday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

      Advice: Senga was able to throw more than 30 pitches in the session and he's expected to throw a shorter one next week. The right-hander has been slowly working his way back from a posterior right capsule strain and then a subsequent triceps injury, and he's yet to make his season debut. Senga has already been ruled out for the first half of the season, but if he can build on Saturday's session next week, he'll remain on track to return relatively soon following the All-Star break.       Gimenez went 2-for-4 with one RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 3-1 win over the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Gimenez has two steals over his last three games, giving him 11 thefts on the year. The second baseman has struggled at the plate in June, batting .206 (7-for-34) over eight contests, but he continues to see a starting role even after a recent run of the Guardians facing four left-handed starters in a six-game span.       Profar went 2-for-4 in Friday's loss to the Mets.

      Advice: Profar missed Wednesday's contest due to left knee soreness. The issue has been ongoing for Profar, but Wednesday's absence was his first of the campaign, so it's likely that he'll continue playing through it unless the injury worsens. Profar has been among the best hitters in the league this season -- his two singles Friday pushed his batting average up to .326, second among qualified hitters in the majors behind teammate Luis Arraez.       Diaz gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his sixth save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Padres.

      Advice: A leadoff single by Jurickson Profar and a stolen base by pinch runner Jose Azocar created another nervous ninth for the Mets, but Diaz buckled down after that and fanned Manny Machado and Jake Cronenworth to preserve the win. Diaz's velocity appears to be all the way back -- his fastest pitch Friday hit 100 mph -- and he's looked to be in just about peak form in two appearances since recovering from a shoulder impingement.       Advice: Bednar was called upon to preserve a 5-1 lead in the ninth inning. He retired the first two batters he faced without issue but then served up a solo home run to Charlie Blackmon.       Alexis Díaz recorded his 15th save despite allowing two runs — one earned — in the ninth Friday versus the Brewers.
