• Retreats to bench
Swanson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets.

Advice: Swanson will get a chance to rest up for the day game after a night game, with Nico Hoerner moving over from second base to replace him at shortstop. The off day comes while Swanson has gone 3-for-17 with eight strikeouts against one walk over his last five games. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago
  • Rehab start coming soon
Luzardo (elbow) threw a successful bullpen session Thursday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Luzardo will make a rehab start sometime during the Marlins' upcoming road trip. The left-hander is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list on May 10, and he could be a realistic candidate to start against the Phillies that day, if all goes well in his throwing program. Luzardo has been working his way back from a mild left flexor strain. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago

  • Resting Thursday
Amaya is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets.

Advice: Amaya looks to be getting a breather for the day game after he caught all nine innings of Wednesday's 1-0 win while going 0-for-2 with a walk. Yan Gomes will get the nod behind the plate Thursday. Rotowire.com 37 minutes ago
  • Returns from 7-day IL
Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre reinstated Gonzalez (orbital) from its 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Gonzalez picked up his first starts of the season for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday and Wednesday, going 1-for-9 with an RBI, a run and a stolen base. The 26-year-old outfielder/designated hitter missed the first month of the season while recovering from a fractured right orbital, which he sustained when he fouled a ball off his face in a March 25 exhibition. Gonzalez appeared in five rehab games for Single-A Tampa before joining Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's active roster. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago

  • Absent from lineup
Martinez is out of the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Cubs.

Advice: Martinez has been given one day off in each of his first two series since joining the Mets as the club eases him back into action. That plan could continue for a bit longer before he assumes everyday duties at designated hitter. DJ Stewart will serve as the Mets' DH on Thursday. Rotowire.com 45 minutes ago

  • Nabs fourth straight start
Grisham will start in center field and bat ninth in Thursday's game against the Orioles, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Grisham will get his fourth straight start in center field, but his run of regular playing time should soon come to an end. During the first three starts, the Yankees were without Alex Verdugo (personal), who was on the paternity list. Verdugo has rejoined the Yankees for Thursday's series finale in Baltimore and will start in left field, but New York will have room in center field for Grisham once again while Aaron Judge serves as the designated hitter in place of a resting Giancarlo Stanton. Grisham will be relegated to the fourth-outfielder role for games in which all of Judge, Verdugo, Stanton and Juan Soto are included in the lineup. Rotowire.com 46 minutes ago

  • Takes loss as primary pitcher
Jefferies (0-2) took the loss against the Red Sox on Wednesday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three batters over 2.2 innings.

Advice: Jefferies was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to make what was initially expected to be a spot start. The Giants instead opted to open the game with lefty Erik Miller on the mound before handing the ball to Jefferies to begin the second inning. Jefferies got out of his first frame unscathed but gave up two runs in the third and two more in the fourth to put himself in line for the loss. The 28-year-old has yielded nine earned runs across 4.2 innings over his two outings this season, and it's not clear if he'll get additional big-league opportunities (either as a traditional starter or primary pitcher) while Blake Snell (thigh) remains on the injured list. • Daulton Jefferies surrenders four runs in loss
Daulton Jefferies was saddled with his second loss of the season on Wednesday, surrendering four runs on five hits over 2 2/3 innings of work against the Red Sox.

Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander took over after Erik Miller worked a scoreless first inning on Wednesday, and it didn’t take him long to surrender the Giants’ early 1-0 lead. He allowed a pair of runs in the third inning on an RBI double by Rafael Devers and a run-scoring ground out by Rob Refsnyder. The Red Sox scratched out two more runs while chasing Jefferies in the fourth inning. With a 17.36 ERA and 3.43 WHIP over 4 2/3 innings in two appearances with the Giants, it seems likely that he’ll be sent right back to Triple-A Sacramento. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:57 pm
  • Matt Mervis doubles, scores run against Mets
Matt Mervis went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored on Wednesday against the Mets.

Advice: Mervis doubled to lead off the fifth inning and took third base on a wild pitch. A sacrifice fly by Pete Crow-Armstrong brought Mervis in to score the only run of the game. The 26-year-old first baseman is 3-for-23 to start the year since he’s taken a strong-side platoon role against right-handers with the Cubs. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:56 pm
