    • Exits after HBP
Springer was removed from Friday's game against the Yankees due to a left hand contusion.

Advice: Springer took a 93-mph fastball off his hand/wrist during the fifth inning. He remained in the game to run the bases and play defense, but he was eventually pinch hit for by Davis Schneider in the seventh frame. X-rays on Springer's hand came back negative for a fracture, and his ability to remain in the game immediately following the incident bodes well for his chances of returning to Toronto's lineup Saturday. • George Springer (hand) exits after hit by pitch
George Springer was removed from Friday night’s battle against the Yankees after being hit on the left hand by a pitch thrown by Michael Tonkin.

Advice: The Blue Jays announced that Springer underwent precautionary imaging on his hand that came back negative for any fractures. That doesn’t mean he’s completely out of the woods, but it’s a very encouraging sign. For now, he’s being considered day-to-day with a left hand contusion. Rotoworld 12 minutes ago

    • Jose Siri homers twice to power Rays past Nats
Jose Siri crushed a pair of solo home runs on Friday night, powering the Rays to a 3-1 victory over the Nationals.

Advice: Siri opened the scoring in the contest in the second inning when he crushed a 405-foot (108.6 mph EV) leadoff homer off of Mitchell Parker. He then increased the Rays’ advantage with a 428-foot (107.1 mph EV) solo blast off of Jacob Barnes to start the sixth inning that made it a 3-0 ballgame. The dynamic 28-year-old outfielder also worked a walk in the ballgame, finishing the night 2-for-3. He’s now slashing .219/.300/.423 with 11 homers, 29 RBI and seven stolen bases on the season. • Jacob Young has two hits, swipe in loss to Rays
Jacob Young went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a run scored and a stolen base as the Nationals fell to the Rays on Friday evening in Tampa Bay.

Advice: Young basically created a run with his legs in the seventh inning, smacking a two-out double, stealing third base and then trotting home as catcher overthrew the third baseman trying to cut him down. That would be the only run that the Nationals would muster in the ballgame. With his two-hit effort, Young is now hitting .272/.329/.341 with one homer, 18 RBI and 19 swipes on the season. • Mitchell Parker strikes out five in loss to Rays
Mitchell Parker pitched decently in Friday night’s loss to the Rays in Tampa Bay, surrendering two runs on six hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: On the plus side, the 24-year-old southpaw racked up five strikeouts on the night while allowing just one base on balls. Parker served up a solo homer to Jose Siri in the second inning, then the Rays added another run in the third on an RBI single off the bat of Isaac Paredes. Parker got 13 swings and misses on 92 pitches in the game, posting a CSW of 28 percent. Now 5-4 on the season, he’ll look to get back on track as he carries a 3.32 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and a 63/18 K/BB ratio (78 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Mets. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago
    • Steals, reaches three times in win
Marsh went 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and a stolen base in a 2-0 win over the Marlins on Friday.

Advice: Marsh doubled in the second inning and walked and stole second in the fourth. He later walked again in the eighth and has reached base seven times in his past two starts with a home run and a steal. With recent injuries to Bryce Harper (hamstring) and Kyle Schwarber (groin), the lefty was in the cleanup spot Friday night and will likely continue to hit in the middle of the order against right-handed pitching while they remain on the injured-list. The 26-year-old is now hitting .270 with seven home runs, 31 RBI, 25 runs scored and nine steals through 225 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago

    • Struck by comebacker, exits early
Vasquez was removed from his start Friday against the Red Sox after getting hit in the right forearm by a comebacker, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Vasquez took a 98-mph line drive off his forearm during the fifth inning of Friday's contest, and he was taken out of the game after conferring with a trainer. He'll head into the clubhouse for imaging, and the Padres should have an update on the severity of his injury within the near future. The 25-year-old righty had allowed one earned run on five hits and a walk while striking out one batter over four innings before being taken out of the game. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago

    • Tosses complete-game shutout
Sanchez (6-3) earned the win against the Marlins on Friday, allowing three hits and no walks in a complete-game shutout while striking out nine.

Advice: Sanchez was dominant, allowing only singles and generating 16 swinging strikes on 101 pitches in his first career complete-game shutout. Since June 17, the southpaw has won three straight contests and surrendered just one earned run over 23 innings with an 18:1 K:BB. The 27-year-old owns a 2.41 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 79:24 K:BB through 93.1 innings in 2024 and will look to stay hot against the Cubs next week. Rotowire.com 44 minutes ago
    • Back with Giants
The Giants recalled Fitzgerald from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Advice: With Thairo Estrada (wrist) headed for the injured list, Fitzgerald will return to San Francisco in order to give the Giants some depth in the infield, though he his also capable of playing in the outfield. The 26-year-old has slashed .273/.333/.409 across 72 plate appearances in the majors and will likely share reps with Nick Ahmed until Estrada returns. Rotowire.com 51 minutes ago
