    • Recalled from Triple-A
The Mariners recalled Diaz from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

Advice: Since being sent down to Triple-A on June 12, Diaz has allowed eight runs (six earned) in 11 innings across two starts. The 27-year-old allowed three runs to come across the plate during his spot start against the White Sox, and he'll presumably join the Mariners' rotation temporarily while Bryan Woo (hamstring) is on the injured list. Cody Bolton was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 4:45 pm
    • Mariners recall Jhonathan Diaz from Triple-A
Mariners recalled LHP Jhonathan Diaz from Triple-A Tacoma.

Advice: It sounds like the 27-year-old southpaw could join the Mariners’ rotation in place of the injured Bryan Woo (hamstring), provided his services aren’t required out of the bullpen before then. Diaz has made one start for the M’s this season, posting a 5.06 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and a 4/1 K/BB ratio across 5 1/3 frames. Cody Bolton was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. • Optioned to Tacoma
The Mariners optioned Bolton to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

Advice: Bolton appeared in two games for the big club since being recalled June 14, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out three over 2.1 innings. Bolton will cede his spot on the 26-man roster to southpaw Jhonathan Diaz. Rotowire.com Today, 4:43 pm

    • Catching in AZL on Saturday
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Friday that Moreno (thumb) will catch five innings in an Arizona Complex League game Saturday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Moreno was placed on the injured list June 22 due to a sprained left thumb, but Lovullo said earlier in the week that he expects the catcher to return after the minimum 10 days. Barring any setbacks this weekend, Moreno will be eligible to return Tuesday for the beginning of the Diamondbacks' road series against the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Today, 4:26 pm

    • Giants activate LaMonte Wade Jr. from 10-day IL
Giants activated 1B/OF LaMonte Wade Jr. from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: As expected, the 30-year-old slugger will return to start at first base and bat second on Friday night against Landon Knack and the Dodgers. Prior to landing on the injured list in late May with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, Wade had been hitting .333/.470/.426 with a pair of homers, 17 RBI and one stolen base through his first 166 plate appearances. • Early exit Friday
Winker was removed from Friday's game against the Rays with what appears to be a right ankle injury, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Winker sustained the injury running into the wall while tracking down a flyball in the first inning. Though he was able to walk off under his own power, he sported a noticeable limp. Ildemaro Vargas replaced Winker in left field. Rotowire.com Today, 4:20 pm

    • Batting second in return
Wade (hamstring) is playing first base and batting second Friday against the Dodgers, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Wade will make his return from a Grade 2 hamstring strain he sustained in late May on Friday. The first baseman played three rehab games and went 1-for-7 with three runs scored, four walks and two strikeouts. Rotowire.com Today, 3:48 pm

    • On bench again
Raley (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Raley was scratched from Wednesday's game with shoulder soreness and, despite Thursday's team off day, he'll remain out of the starting nine for the series opener against Minnesota. Up to this point, all indications are that the injury isn't of concern. Dominic Canzone, Julio Rodriguez and Mitch Haniger fill the outfield Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 2:31 pm

    • Picks up another start
Tyler is slated to start Friday's game in Philadelphia.

Advice: He'll receive a second straight turn through the Miami rotation after he took a no-decision his last time out Sunday against the Mariners, covering four innings and striking out two while giving up two runs on three hits and three walks. With injuries having hit the Miami pitching staff hard, Tyler could be in store for additional starts beyond Friday, even if he continues to underwhelm. Rotowire.com Today, 8:57 am
