    • Williams (back) could begin rehab assignment soon
Devin Williams (back) will throw a live bullpen Tuesday.

Advice: Williams has had a few bullpen sessions as of late, and he’s filling will enough to face live hitters Tuesday. If that goes well, the next step for Williams could be a rehab assignment. Williams has missed all of the season with a stress fracture in his back, and he should return to a stopping role before the end of July if there are no setbacks. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:31 pm
    • Marlins claim McCaughan off waivers from Guardians
Marlins claimed RHP Darren McCaughan off waivers from the Marlins.

Advice: McCaughan was designated for assignment by the Guardians last week, and he’ll now report to Triple-A Jacksonville as a member of the Miami organization. It’s doubtful he’ll be anything more than org depth for the Marlins. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:02 pm
    • Notches save in return
Diaz struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to record his eighth save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Seeing his first action since serving a 10-game suspension for use of a foreign substance, Diaz hit Oneil Cruz with a pitch to begin the frame but escaped the minor jam by striking out Rowdy Tellez and getting Andrew McCutchen to ground into a double play. Diaz has had a turbulent campaign in his return from a knee injury that cost him the entire 2023 season, but he had been showing signs of turning things around prior to the suspension -- he's allowed only one run in his last six innings with a 7:0 K:BB. • Picks up fourth save
Green notched a save against the Mariners on Saturday, allowing one run on one hit while striking out two batters over 1.1 innings.

Advice: Green was deployed with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning and struck out Cal Raleigh to preserve a two-run Toronto lead. He returned in the ninth frame and worked around a one-out solo shot by Luke Raley to nail down the save. Green has two saves over the past four days and has allowed just three earned runs -- all on solo homers -- over 21 innings since the start of April. However, he could see fewer closing opportunities with Yimi Garcia nearing his return from an elbow injury. Rotowire.com Saturday, 10:26 pm
    • Collects save Saturday
Clase walked one and struck out none over a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Giants.

Advice: Clase has earned six saves and a win during his active nine-inning scoreless streak. He's added a 5:2 K:BB in that span. The closer is 26-for-29 in save chances this year with a 0.65 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 39:5 K:BB across 41.1 innings. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:47 pm
    • Diaz picks up eighth save against Pirates Saturday
Edwin Diaz tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Pirates on Saturday.

Advice: Diaz slammed the door on the Pirates to preserve a 5-2 victory for New York. The save was his eighth of the season and first since returning from a 10-game suspension for using an illegal foreign substance. The Mets had the league’s worst bullpen ERA while he was out. The team and fantasy managers are happy to see him back out there. Rotoworld Saturday, 4:32 pm
    • Chad Green allows homer, still gets four-out save
Chad Green allowed a run over 1 1/3 innings to get a save Saturday against the Mariners.

Advice: Green came on to get the final out of the eighth while striking out notorious Blue Jay killer Cal Raleigh. He did allow a solo homer to Luke Raley, but it came with a 5-3 lead. Green has now saved four games, and he should remain the closer in full until Yimi Garcia (elbow) returns. He may keep that role even after Garcia is back if he keeps pitching well. • Clase picks up AL-leading 26th save vs. Giants
Emmanuel Clase pitched a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Giants on Saturday.

Advice: The save was Clase’s 26th of the year. With another scoreless appearance, his ERA is down to 0.65. Only Ryan Helsley of the Cardinals has more saves than Clase does this year. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:56 pm
    • Returns from suspension
The Mets activated Diaz from his 10-game suspension Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: Diaz was dealt an automatic 10-game suspension June 24 for the use of an illegal substance on the mound, and he'll now reclaim his usual role as New York's closer. The 30-year-old has been met with struggles this season, putting up a 4.70 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 23 innings, but his return will still provide a much-needed boost to the Mets' bullpen, which posted an 8.37 ERA while Diaz was suspended.
