      Advice: Paredes entered the day with just two hits over his last 23 at-bats but broke out of it in a big way with his first three-hit game since May 21. He did all his damage off Nationals starter Patrick Corbin, going 3-for-3 against the lefty. Despite the recent slump, Paredes maintains a healthy .276/.361/.472 slash line on the season with 13 home runs, 43 RBI, 32 runs and 32 walks over 328 plate appearances.       Julio Rodríguez went 0-for-4 on Saturday in the Mariners’ loss to the Twins.

      Advice: It’s been a trying first half for Rodríguez, who went hitless during Saturday’s losing effort despite a scalding a 102-mph line-drive off Twins starter Pablo López in the third inning that went for a lineout. The 23-year-old franchise cornerstone’s latest hitless performance drops his full-season batting average back down to a pedestrian .248 mark. The even more problematic development for fantasy purposes is that he’s gone deep just seven times this season, with nearly half of those coming over his last 30 games.       Myers allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six batters over six innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Saturday.

      Advice: Myers came into Saturday having given up one or zero runs in four straight starts, all of which ended with his name in the win column. The right-hander couldn't extend the win streak Saturday, but he still pitched pretty well to notch his fourth quality start of the campaign. June was a breakout month for Myers, who was actually optioned to Triple-A on the first day of the month following a poor start against the White Sox on May 31.     • Tobias Myers gets quality start, no-decision
      Tobias Myers went six innings while allowing three runs and not factoring into the decision Saturday against the Cubs.

      Advice: Myers dealt with quite a bit of traffic Saturday, as he allowed seven hits and also issued a pair of walks. He was able to work around that traffic for the most part, thanks largely to six strikeouts and a couple of double plays. The 25-year-old gave up a two-run homer to Michael Busch in the first, but it was (mostly) smooth sailing from that point on. Myers does see his ERA jump up to 3.26, but that’s still a very solid number for the right-handed hurler. He faces Colorado next, and it’s worth pointing out that start will take place in Denver.       Romano was shut down from throwing after experiencing discomfort in his right elbow Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

      Advice: It's the second time Romano has been shut down from throwing since he landed on the injured list June 1. Manager John Schneider said Saturday that Romano will get an evaluation on his right elbow July 2, which should give clarity on the next steps for the 31-year-old closer, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.     • Jordan Romano shut down due to elbow discomfort
      Jordan Romano has been shut down from throwing again after experiencing renewed right elbow discomfort.

      Advice: Not good. Romano is heading for further evaluation with specialist Dr. Keith Meister on Tuesday to determine his next steps. It’s the second time that Romano has been shut down during his rehabilitation process due to elbow discomfort. At this point, it’s possible the 31-year-old veteran closer could wind up requiring season-ending surgery. There should be an update on his status at some point in the coming days, but he’s nowhere close to returning at this point. It’ll continue to be Chad Green closing for Toronto until Yimi García (elbow) returns from the injured list. Rotoworld Saturday, 9:31 am
