    • MacKenzie Gore wins, stellar across seven innings
MacKenzie Gore pitched seven strong innings allowing one earned run and four hits in the Nationals 6-1 win over the Mariners on Friday. He struck out eight, walked one, and earned the win.

Advice: This is it. The MacKenzie Gore breakout is finally here. His command was impeccable in this start living on the edges and giving Seattle very few opportunities to do any damage. Their only run was J.P. Crawford’s lead-off home run on Gore’s second pitch of the game. He never found himself in a 3-0 or 3-1 count and it’s been a pleasure to watch his confidence grow with each start. His ERA sank to 3.04 and there’s no reason to think he’ll slow down any time soon. • Facing hitters again Saturday
Cole (elbow) will throw a live batting practice session Saturday, Chris Kirschner of The Athleticreports.

Advice: It will be the second time Cole has faced live hitters, with his first session taking place Tuesday when he threw about 20 pitches. While Cole is eligible to return from the 60-day IL at the end of May, he'll need multiple rehab starts before joining the Yankees' rotation. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:39 pm

    • Continues stellar run
Gil (6-1) earned the win Thursday over the Mariners, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out eight in 6.1 scoreless innings.

Advice: Gil continues to look like a star in the Yankees' rotation -- the 25-year-old right-hander now has five straight wins and quality starts, allowing just two runs over 30.2 innings in that span. He's lowered his ERA to 2.11 on the year with a 1.01 WHIP and 70:29 K:BB through 10 starts (55.1 innings). Gil will look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week on the road against the Angels. Rotowire.com Thursday, 2:07 pm

    • Luis Gil holds M’s to one hit, strikes out eight
Luis Gil held Seattle to one hit with eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 shutout innings Thursday while picking up a win.

Advice: Another masterful outing for Gil, one that might quiet the “move to the bullpen” talk when Gerrit Cole returns to the rotation. Gil did walk two, but he was mostly dominant with the only hit being a J.P. Crawford single in the fourth. Gil has struck out 22 batters over his last two starts in 12 1/3 innings, and his ERA is a sparkling 2.11. A chance to impress again is scheduled for Wednesday against the Angels in Los Angeles. • Getting breather Thursday
Canha isn't in the Tigers' lineup for Thursday's game versus Toronto.

Advice: Canha will get a day to regroup after going 0-for-15 with five strikeouts across his past four games. Matt Vierling, Wenceel Perez and Kerry Carpenter will start across the outfield while Riley Greene serves as Detroit's designated hitter. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:40 am

    • Rosenthal: Gil could move to pen when Cole returns
According to Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees “are likely to ‘back off’ on Luis Gil in order to have him as a factor for the playoffs.”

Advice: On one hand, backing off Gil makes some sense. The 25-year-old has already thrown 49 innings this season and has not thrown more than 96 innings in any season since 2019. However, when Yankees manager Aaron Boone was asked about his plans for Gil, he mentioned that Gerrit Cole is likely four to six weeks away from returning, which is an eternity during a baseball season. Moving Gil to the bullpen could make sense on the surface, but it’s impossible to tell what position the Yankees rotation will be in by the time Cole comes back. As a result, it’s too early to make a move for your fantasy teams. Rotoworld Thursday, 10:31 am

    • Day off Thursday
Langeliers is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Rockies.

Advice: Langeliers will get a breather for the day game after catching both of the first two games of the series. Kyle McCann will be behind the dish for the Athletics on Thursday. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:00 am

    • Not in Thursday's lineup
D'Arnaud is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: He started the first two contest of the series, but with Thursday's finale being a day game, d'Arnaud will get a breather. Atlanta will go with Chadwick Tromp as its catcher for starting pitcher AJ Smith-Shawver. Rotowire.com Thursday, 8:53 am
    • Jon Gray lands on 15-day IL with groin strain
Rangers placed RHP Jon Gray on the 15-day injured list with a right groin strain.

Advice: Jon was removed from Tuesday’s start after 75 pitches with a groin injury. The team has referred to the injury as a “mild strain” and doesn’t expect him to miss more than 15 days; however, they said the same thing about Nathan Eovaldi and he’s now approaching three weeks on the shelf. It might be safe to assume fantasy managers will be without Gray for three to four weeks, but he’s been pitching well enough to hold on your IL if you have spots. Rotoworld Thursday, 8:47 am
