    • Carves up Pirates in victory
Morton (5-4) earned the win Friday against Pittsburgh, throwing 6.1 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. He allowed three hits and one walk.

Advice: The 40-year-old looked sharp over a 104-pitch outing, generating 15 whiffs -- including seven on his curveball alone -- to collect seven punchouts. Morton wrapped a successful June, firing a 3.10 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 28:13 K:BB across 29 innings. The Atlanta right-hander is slated to face the Giants at home in his next start. • Doubles twice, steals in win
Young went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored and a stolen base in a 3-1 loss to the Rays on Friday.

Advice: Young doubled in the third inning and again in the seventh. He then stole third and scored on an errant throw by Rays catcher Alex Jackson. Since June 21, the 24-year-old has four multi-hit efforts and nine runs scored in seven contests. On the season, he is hitting .272 with one home run, 18 RBI, 40 runs scored and 19 steals in 240 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 37 minutes ago

    • Jeff McNeil gets right with three hits, home run
Jeff McNeil went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and two runs scored in the Mets’ 7-2 win over the Astros on Friday.

Advice: McNeil has been waiting all season for a game like this. The home run was his first at Citi Field since September 24th of last year and oddly his first long ball this season outside the state of Ohio. The signs of life are encouraging, but McNeil’s batting average still sits at a lowly .221. Even a minor hot streak would make him worth a look in deeper leagues since the Mets continue to start him every day. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago

    • Jackson Merrill homers in nine-run fifth inning
Jackson Merrill hit a three-run homer to camp a nine-run fifth as the Padres bested the Red Sox 9-2 on Friday.

Advice: The Padres were held scoreless until the fifth, when the first nine batters totaled nine runs on eight hits and one walk against Nick Pivetta and Greg Weissert. Merrill concluded the rally with the second homer of the inning. After that, the Padres put their bats back to bed, coming up with just one hit off Chase Anderson in the final four innings. Merrill’s homer was his 11th in 82 games. His current .282/.318/.439 line is a near match for the .277/.326/.444 he came in at least year, only that was compiled in high-A and Double-A. • Nick Pivetta tagged for five runs by Padres
Nick Pivetta surrendered five runs in four-plus innings Friday in a loss to the Padres.

Advice: Pivetta pitched four scoreless innings, striking out four, before giving up four straight hits and a walk to begin the fifth. He was pulled at that point, and the Padres ended up scoring nine times in the frame. Pivetta has allowed 15 earned runs over 19 1/3 innings in his last four starts, taking his season ERA from 3.40 to 4.52. We would say he’s droppable in mixed leagues at this point, but since he faces the Marlins in Miami next time out, it’s probably worth giving him one more chance. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago

    • Rafael Devers homers in third straight game
Rafael Devers homered in a third straight game and walked Friday against the Padres.

Advice: It’s going to be difficult to leave Devers off the All-Star roster this year; he’s currently fifth in the AL with his .941 OPS. Although Devers has received MVP votes four times in his career, he’s been an All-Star only twice, going in 2021 and ’22. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago

    • Surrenders six runs in loss
Perez (1-4) took the loss Friday versus Atlanta, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks over four innings with four strikeouts.

Advice: The 33-year-old veteran looked rusty in his return from the injured list after leaving a May 26 start -- coincidentally, also against Atlanta -- with a groin injury. Perez managed to last 92 pitches, finding the zone with only 39.1 percent of them, down significantly from his previous season average of 54.8 percent. The Pittsburgh southpaw's ERA now stands at 5.28 across 61.1 innings. He looks to bounce back in his next start, currently scheduled to be against the Cardinals at home. • Yordan Alvarez doubles twice in loss
Yordan Alvarez went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, and a run scored on Friday against the Mets.

Advice: Alvarez was on base four times in this one as the Mets just could not figure him out. All three of his balls in play were hit at least 108.9 MPH as his OPS has drifted all the way back up to .892, 11th highest in the league. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago

    • Ronel Blanco can’t overcome red-hot Mets
Ronel Blano was pulled after 5 2/3 innings after allowing six runs, three earned, on Friday against the Mets. He struck out five and walked three in a loss.

Advice: Blanco pitched fine Friday. His three unearned runs came as a result of an Alex Bregman two-out error that allowed Jeff McNeil to sneak a ball just over the right field fence in the next at-bat. That was the Mets’ third home run of the game as Tyrone Taylor and Pete Alonso also left the yard. He still missed plenty of bats with 12 whiffs on the day and would have earned his fourth straight quality start if Bregman had fielded that ground ball cleanly. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago
