      Advice: Ward launched a homer for the second consecutive night, tagging Sean Newcomb for a solo shot in the seventh inning.       Machado went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Machado has gone 14-for-38 (.368) over his last 10 contests, adding two homers and eight RBI in that span. The third baseman opened the scoring when he took MacKenzie Gore deep in the first inning Tuesday. Machado is still playing catch-up after a slow start to the campaign, but he's up to a .260/.314/.389 slash line with eight homers, 40 RBI, 34 runs scored and five stolen bases through 76 contests. He's on a 13.2-inning scoreless streak -- the only run he's allowed this year came in his season debut after he started the year on the injured list.       Paul Sewald recorded his 10th save with a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday against the Twins.

      Advice: Sewald gave up a two-out double to Byron Buxton, putting the tying run on base. Ryan Jeffers followed with a stinging liner to left, but it was hit right to Lourdes Gurriel Jr., ending the game.       Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in a 10-8 win over the Orioles on Tuesday.

      Advice: Ramirez double and scored in the first inning and hit a three-run home run in the fourth. It was the third baseman's second straight game with a homer and fifth multi-hit effort since June 18.     • Hit hard in loss
      Irvin (6-4) took the loss against the Guardians on Tuesday, allowing eight runs (four earned) on 10 hits with no walks and one strikeout over four innings.

      Advice: Irvin allowed three runs in the first two innings and then five runs in a disastrous fifth frame that included a three-run home run by Jose Ramirez. An error in the fifth resulted in four of the runs being unearned, but the lefty allowed 10 hard-hit balls and only generated five swinging strikes in his second consecutive rough outing. Irvin has yielded 13 runs (nine earned) in those two outings and now owns a 3.74 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 74:15 K:BB in 77 innings this season.     • Hunter Greene coughs up six runs to Pirates
      Hunter Greene allowed six runs on seven hits in four innings in a loss to the Pirates on Tuesday.

      Advice: The game started with Greene throwing up on the mound after delivering a first-inning fastball and it didn’t get much better from there. He struck out five and walked two and his velocity was fine on the day, but he clearly wasn’t feeling 100 percent. He posted a solid 27 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW, but the command wasn’t great and the Pirates were able to scratch out their runs on just one extra-base hit.     • Gausman has quality start against Red Sox
      Kevin Gausman allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits in six innings in a win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.

      Advice: Gausman struck out five and walked one on the day but did allow two home runs, which accounted for all but one of the runs scored against him. The 33-year-old’s fastball averaged 94 mph on the day, which is up from his season average and he got seven whiffs on 24 swings on that pitch. However, he was only able to get 10 whiffs overall on the day for a 20 percent whiff rate and 25 percent CSW. He had just a 38 percent zone rate on the splitter, and he’s been struggling to get whiffs on that pitch over the last few starts.       José Ramírez went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer on Tuesday, lifting the Guardians to a 10-8 win over the Orioles.

      Advice: Ramírez clobbered a three-run shot in the fourth inning to give Cleveland a commanding four-run advantage at the time. The 31-year-old fantasy star has gone deep three times over his last four games and is now up to 21 round-trippers this season already.
