• Hits first home run of season
Springer went 1-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's win over the Rays.

Advice: Springer kicked off the Blue Jays' scoring Thursday, delivering a solo homer off Zach Eflin in the fourth inning for the team's first run. While he wouldn't get another hit, Springer was walked in the seventh and eventually came around to score on a Bo Bichette double. Batting atop a stacked Toronto lineup once again this season, Springer should provide ample fantasy value from the outfield position. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago
  • Goes seven strong to earn win
Lopez (1-0) tossed seven innings, allowing one run on four hits and seven strikeouts to earn the victory in Minnesota's 4-1 win at Kansas City on Opening Day.

Advice: It took Lopez just 84 pitches to complete seven frames as he walked none in a dominant effort. His lone blemish in the box score was a leadoff home run by Royals' third baseman Maikel Garcia, but otherwise Lopez was in control, throwing first-pitch strikes to 18 of the 24 batters he faced. Lopez earned his first all-star appearance in his first season with Minnesota last season and is looking to build on what was a high-quality 2023 season in which he set career-highs with 194.0 innings pitched, 11 wins and 234 strikeouts. • Picks up win on Opening Day
Berrios (1-0) went 6.0 innings and allowed two runs on six hits and one walk during Thursday's win over the Rays. He struck out six.

Advice: After kicking off 2023 with two straight losses, Berrios wasted no time getting in the win column to start the 2024 campaign, going six strong against Tampa Bay. Berrios was tagged for a solo homer by Yandy Diaz on just his fifth pitch of the game. However, he limited Rays' hitters two through five to a combined 0-for-11 with a walk. Berrios's next start is tentatively scheduled to come against the Astros. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago
  • Marte scores thrice in Opening Day blowout win
Ketel Marte scored three times while going 3-for-5 and also driving in a run in a blowout win Thursday over the Rockies.

Advice: Marte was one of six players to score multiple runs for the Diamondbacks on Thursday in a contest where Arizona scored 16 runs against the woeful Rockies. Fourteen of those runs came in the third inning, and Marte’s RBI unsurprisingly came in that frame with a single that plated Alek Thomas. The Diamondbacks lineup should be among the better groups in the National League, and hitting at the top of that group should allow Marte to be among the better run-scoring options throughout the 2024 season — even when they’re not playing Colorado. • Knocked around in Oakland debut
Wood (0-1) took the loss against Cleveland on Thursday, allowing six runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three batters over 3.1 innings.

Advice: Wood got through three frames with just one run on his ledger, but he faltered in the fourth, allowing six straight batters to reach base with one out. The left-hander was pulled following Brayan Rocchio's two-run double, but by then he had given up five runs in the frame. Wood will be looked to for veteran leadership and rotation stability in his first campaign with the Athletics, though it remains to be seen how much he has left in the tank after compiling a 4.41 ERA over his previous three big-league seasons across the bay with San Francisco. • Gabriel Moreno plates three as D-Backs crush Rockies
Gabriel Moreno drove in three runs and scored twice while going 2-for-5 in a blowout win for the Diamondbacks on Thursday over the Rockies.

Advice: Moreno doubled in a pair of runs in the third inning, and in that same frame he also singled home a run. The Diamondbacks were able to score 14 runs in that inning, and it probably doesn’t come as a surprise that they were able to win the game. Moreno is a former top prospect who looked the part in the postseason for Arizona last fall, and he could be in for a breakout campaign as a 24-year-old in 2024. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

  • Hits leadoff home run
Garcia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a strikeout during Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Twins.

Advice: Garcia's home run came on the third pitch he saw, leading off the bottom of the first with a blast over the left-field wall. His homer was the only blemish on Pablo Lopez's line as he shut the door on Garcia and the rest of the Royals lineup. The third basemen parlayed a strong spring into a leadoff role and begins the season with a long ball after hitting just four last season over 464 at-bats. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago

  • Struggles in 2024 opener
Eflin (0-1) went 5.2 innings and allowed six runs on six hits and one walk during Thursday's loss to Toronto. He struck out five.

Advice: Eflin was roughed up by the Blue Jays' potent offense, giving up solo home runs to George Springer, Vladimir Guerrero and Cavan Biggio. Most of the damage against Eflin came in the sixth, where he gave up five of his six earned runs. Eflin is set for another test to start 2024, with a matchup against the Rangers on tap for his next projected start. Rotowire.com 23 minutes ago

  • Lourdes Gurriel drives in five in blowout win over Rockies
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. homered and drove in five runs while going 3-for-5 in a 16-1 rout of the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: Gurriel Jr. blasted a two-run shot off Kyle Freeland in the first inning in a game that the Diamondbacks essentially dominating from start to finish. The veteran outfielder also drove in a pair of runs on a pair of hits in the third inning in a frame that saw the Diamondbacks score a whopping 14 runs. Gurriel Jr. also came across to score three runs in an opener he’ll likely remember fondly and cause Rockies fans to look forward to the 2025 MLB Draft. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago
