  • Brendan Rodgers hits grand slam in Rockies’ win
    Brendan Rodgers’ first homer of the year was a grand slam Tuesday to lead the Rockies past the Padres 7-4.

    Advice: It was his first career slam. Rodgers is batting just .197/.230/.324 in 74 plate appearances, but his contact numbers are a little better than usual and, due to some chilly temps, Coors Field hasn’t played like Coors Field just yet.     Espinal went 3-for-4 with a home run and two total RBI in Tuesday's 8-1 victory over the Phillies.

    Advice: After picking up a pair of base hits earlier in the game, Espinal delivered the final blow in Cincinnati's 8-1 victory, smacking a solo home run off Ricardo Pinto in the eighth inning, his first of the season. It's just the second multi-hit game of the year for the 29-year-old Espinal -- he'd been stuck in a 1-for-19 slump over his previous seven contests. Overall, he's slashing .178/.264/.267 with seven RBI, three runs scored and three stolen bases across 17 games. He's started to separate himself in a crowded battle for playing time, going 7-for-19 (.368) with two home runs and five RBI over his last six games.     Justin Turner went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday’s loss to the Royals.

    Advice: Turner singled in the third inning to drive in George Springer, upping his RBI total on the season to 12. His single ended an 0-for-10 streak and lifted his average to .310 on the season. The veteran infielder continues to serve primarily as the Blue Jays designated hitter while hitting near the middle of a potent lineup. As long as he stays hot, Turner can be counted on to produce in multiple categories for fantasy managers.

  • Paredes homers in loss to Tigers
    Isaac Paredes went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Tigers on Tuesday.

    Advice: In a rare occurrence, Paredes homered to left-center field instead of down the line in left field. The ball left the bat at 100.8 mph and traveled 384 feet. It was the 25-year-old’s sixth home run on the season to go along with 16 RBI. He’s been strong again to start the season, which he’ll need to continue to be since one of the best prospects in baseball, Junior Caminero, plays his position and is just one level away.   • Luis Arraez tallies two hits in loss to Braves
    Luis Arraez went 2-for-4 in the Marlins’ loss to the Braves.

    Advice: There’s not much to say here, as Arraez’s two hits made up all but one of the Marlins’ hits in the shutout loss. Arraez has now hit safely in three straight games and has eight hits over his last five. He’s hitting just .284 on the year, but his 29 hits are still good for top 10 in the league.   • Exits rehab game early
    LeMahieu (foot) was forced to exit his rehab start with Double-A Somerset in the second inning, Randy Miller of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

    Advice: LeMahieu left the contest after striking out in the top of first frame and playing third base in the bottom of the inning. He was making his first start with Somerset and was expected to appear in three more contests before returning to the major-league roster. The 35-year-old is now set to undergo examinations on his foot in New York on Wednesday according to Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News. More information on his status will be provided following the testing, but it certainly appears as if LeMahieu suffered a setback in his recovery of a bone bruise and fracture in his right foot.     DJ LeMahieu was removed from Tuesday’s minor league rehab game for Double-A Somerset due to right foot soreness.

    Advice: It’s not what you want to see. LeMahieu struck out in his lone plate appearances and lasted just one inning at third base in his rehab assignment debut before leaving the contest. It’s a notable development since he was expected to play at least a couple innings in this one.
