    • Takes first loss of season
Detmers (3-1) took the loss against Baltimore on Monday, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four batters over seven innings.

Advice: Detmers surrendered four extra-base hits, including two homers, among the six knocks the Orioles managed against him, and he tied his season low with a modest four punchouts. Still, the southpaw registered his longest start of the campaign with seven frames to help the Angels stay close, but the team couldn't complete a ninth-inning rally that could have taken him off the hook for his first loss. Despite the defeat, Detmers has had an overall strong start to the campaign, posting a 2.12 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 34:10 K:BB through 29.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:01 pm

    • Reid Detmers goes seven innings in loss
Reid Detmers lost to the Orioles after allowing four runs in seven innings on Monday.

Advice: Starts like this still seem like progress for Detmers, who completed six innings in only 10 of his 28 outings last season. He’s already done so in three out of five this year, and he still hasn’t topped 100 pitches in the process. The loss leaves him 3-1 with a 2.12 ERA. He has a favorable matchup against the Twins coming this weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:44 pm

    • Tarik Skubal strikes out nine in six scoreless innings
Tarik Skubal picked up his third win on Monday night with nine strikeouts across six scoreless innings against the Rays.

Advice: This was by far Skubal’s best outing of the season. The 27-year-old southpaw is now 7-0 with an absurd 1.35 ERA dating back to last season. He has a 31.2% strikeout rate with 35 strikeouts across 29 2/3 innings. He’s clearly put himself as a potential AL Cy Young candidate with the way he’s been throwing on the bump. • Dazzles in victory
Skubal (3-0) earned the win Monday against the Rays, allowing three hits and no walks over six shutout innings. He struck out nine.

Advice: Skubal dominated Monday night, scattering three singles as no Rays hitter reached second base against him. The Detroit southpaw has been tough to hit this year, firing 29.2 innings with a 1.82 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 35:5 K:BB. Skubal is slated to face the Royals at home in his next start. • Not starting Monday
Rengifo is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.

Advice: Rengifo had started the last six games and 11 of the previous 13, but he'll begin this one on the bench. Ehire Adrianza will be at second base, and Miguel Sano will handle third. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:33 pm

    • Notches fourth save
Scott struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Sunday to record his fourth save of the season in a win over the Cubs.

Advice: The southpaw reined in his control issues for at least one appearance, firing eight of 11 pitches for strikes as he carved up the top of the Cubs' order. Scott's 3.38 ERA through 10.2 innings masks his struggles -- he has a 10:12 K:BB and an 0-3 record, although he's converted four of five save chances. With most of the rest of the Marlins' bullpen also off to shaky starts to the season, Scott is being given every opportunity to turn things around, and as yet a change at closer for Miami doesn't seem to be in the works. • Two doubles Sunday
Freeman went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 10-0 win over the Mets.

Advice: Freeman doubled his first time up and then doubled home two runs as part of an eight-run fifth inning for the Dodgers. He's now reached base six times in the last two games and has five RBI over that span. The 34-year-old is hitting .287/.406/.391 with a home run, 13 RBI, 12 runs and a 15:20 BB:K in 106 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:02 am
    • Fans seven in win
Cabrera (1-0) allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings Sunday, striking out seven and earning a win over the Cubs.

Advice: Cabrera followed up his impressive season debut with his first win of 2024. He gave up all three runs through the first four frames and showed signs of his well-known command issues with the three free passes. Still, he's produced an impressive 17:4 K:BB with a 3.27 ERA through 11 innings. Cabrera forced 12 swinging strikes Sunday, with six coming via the changeup. His next start is lined up to be at home against the Nationals. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:34 pm
    • Blasts sixth homer
Schwarber went 1-for-1 with three walks, a home run, two RBI and three runs scored during Sunday's 8-2 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Schwarber reached base in each of his first four at-bats, culminating with a solo shot in the sixth, then drove in his second run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh, posting the final tally of an 8-2 triumph for the Phillies. Schwarber had been hitless in five of the previous six games coming into Sunday but each of his last three hits have now cleared the fence. The slugger lifted his average to .217 on the day and now has six homers and 11 RBI on the season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:11 pm
