    • Rangers send Max Scherzer on rehab assignment
Rangers sent Max Scherzer (back) on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: The 39-year-old veteran will get the start on Wednesday and hopes to throw at least 50 pitches. Scherzer, who has been on the injured list since the start of the regular season, hopes to make a return in sometime in May after he underwent back surgery in the offseason. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

    • Placed on IL with lat tightness
The Red Sox placed Bello on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, retroactive to April 21, with right lat tightness.

Advice: Manager Alex Cora said in an interview on WEEI that Bello felt the discomfort following his last start, but the team is optimistic he will miss only the minimum 15 days. If that's the case, his next outing would come on May 7 in Atlanta. Bello had been slated to start Thursday in Cleveland, but the Red Sox could move Kutter Crawford up a day to start on regular rest. • Red Sox place Brayan Bello (lat) on 15-day IL
Red Sox placed Brayan Bello on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to April 21, with right lat tightness.

Advice: The hits keep on coming for the Red Sox as their young ace will be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks. Bello has allowed two or fewer runs in four of his five starts and threw at least seven strikeouts in his last two starts this season. It’s a tough pill to swallow for Boston as the team leaned on Bello as they manage injuries to its rotation, but now he’s a part of that issue for Alex Cora and his roster. • Shaky in eighth inning appearance
Kopech allowed two earned runs on two hits and no walks while striking out two to earn a hold Tuesday against the Twins.

Advice: Kopech was used in the eighth inning, and he primarily matched up against the top of the Twins' lineup. He allowed a leadoff single and later in the inning served up a two-run home run to Trevor Larnach. Kopech still maintained a one-run lead for the White Sox to earn his first hold of the season. The sample of the team maintaining a lead late in games is small, but it appears that manager Pedro Grifol is comfortable using Kopech in the highest-leverage situations rather than using him solely in save situations. • Takes third loss
Gausman (0-3) took the loss Tuesday versus the Royals after giving up three runs (all unearned) on seven hits and a walk while striking out two batters across 6.2 innings.

Advice: A strong start for Gausman fell apart in the fifth frame after a catching error by Vladimir Guerrero extended the inning, allowing the Royals to drive in all three of their runs. Although Gausman was tagged with the loss, there were plenty of positives to take away from his outing Tuesday, as it marked his longest start of the season. The 33-year-old righty has also now given up just one earned run in 11.2 innings across his last two appearances, giving him a decent amount of momentum heading into his next start -- tentatively scheduled for Sunday against the Dodgers. • Puts tally in home run column
Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run during Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Rangers.

Advice: After launching 60 combined homers in his first two MLB seasons, Rodriguez was homerless through 22 games in 2024 before tagging Dane Dunning for a two-run shot Tuesday. Despite his lack of long balls, Rodriguez has been a strong fantasy producer, having racked up five multi-hit games and four stolen bases in his last seven appearances. • Cody Bellinger doing OK after wall collision
Cody Bellinger said after Tuesday’s game that he should be OK following his collision with the center-field wall.

Advice: X-rays were negative on Bellinger’s right ribs and he’s considered day-to-day with a contusion for now. It’s possible he’ll be ready to go Wednesday after going 1-for-3 with a two-run homer prior to exiting the late stages of Tuesday’s contest. “We’re going to have to check on the wall, see if the wall’s OK first and then be careful around it next time,” he said. • Adds insurance with homer
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Ramirez's bat is coming around -- he's hit safely in seven of his last eight games, going 8-for-32 (.250) with two homers and nine RBI in that span. For the season, he's slashing .240/.253/.427 with four homers, 19 RBI, 16 runs scored, a stolen base, four doubles and a triple through 22 games. Ramirez remains firmly in the heart of the order and continues to be regularly involved in run production even with his lackluster on-base numbers so far. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:41 pm

    • X-rays negative
X-rays on Bellinger's ribs came back negative Tuesday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Manager Craig Counsell said Bellinger is still dealing with quite a bit of soreness, so the Cubs will wait to see how he feels Wednesday before determining any sort of return timeline. Alexander Canario entered Tuesday's game as Bellinger's replacement and could see extra reps in the outfield should the 2019 NL MVP have to miss time. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:02 pm
