Jose Bautista (shoulder) won't return to playing the outfield until at least next week.

Advice: Bautista won't start throwing until later this week as he tries to manage a sore right shoulder. The good news is that he'll keep playing, remaining in the designated hitter spot. Rotoworld.com

  • Nick Swisher (knees) to be activated Tuesday
Indians manager Terry Francona said Nick Swisher (knees) will be activated from the disabled list Tuesday.

Advice: Tyler Holt will be optioned to Triple-A Columbus to open a spot on the Indians' 25-man roster. Swisher missed all of April while rehabbing from dual knee surgeries. He batted just .208/.278/.331 with eight home runs and 42 RBI in 97 games last season for the Indians and the 34-year-old seems doubtful to carry significant value this summer in standard fantasy leagues. Cardinals signed 1B Dan Johnson to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Memphis.

  • Mike Napoli launches three-run homer in loss
Mike Napoli launched a three-run homer in a losing effort against the Yankees on Sunday night.

Advice: His towering drive off Esmil Rogers capped a three-run Red Sox uprising in the sixth inning, pulling them to within three at 8-5, though that would be as close as the score would get. Napoli finished the night 1-for-3 and also drew a walk. He has been in quite the funk offensively through the first month-plus of the season, hitting .167/.278/.295 with two homers and seven RBI. • Twins considering hitting Joe Mauer leadoff
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Twins have had internal discussions about hitting Joe Mauer leadoff.

Advice: With his ability to get on base and work a walk, combined with the disappearance of his power in recent years, the idea makes sense. He's off to a nice start hitting out of the three-hole though, slashing .302/.382/.396 with no homers and 13 RBI. Rotoworld.com

  • Yasmani Grandal blasts walkoff homer in 13th
Yasmani Grandal blasted a walkoff home run leading off the 13th inning on Sunday, propelling the Dodgers to a 1-0 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Grandal entered the game as a pinch-hitter when he drew a walk for A.J. Ellis in the tenth inning. His only official at-bat in the contest was his game-winning blast off Evan Marshall in the 13th inning. He's now hitting .230/.356/.377 with two homers and three RBI on the season. Rotoworld.com

  • Vogt homers twice, drives in four vs Rangers
Stephen Vogt hit home runs in back-to-back innings against the Rangers on Sunday, finishing the game with four RBI.

Advice: Vogt hit a solo home run off of Yovani Gallardo in the sixth inning, then topped himself the next inning, slugging a three-run shot off Alex Claudio. He finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored, four RBI and two walks. The big game gives Vogt six home runs for the season and 20 RBI. He's hitting a sterling .356/.455/.671 in his first season as the A's full-time catcher. Rotoworld.com

  • Rizzo triples in run against Brewers
Anthony Rizzo tripled and drove in a run during Sunday's loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Rizzo, he of the four career triples, got his season quota out of the way when he drove in Dexter Fowler with a ball to deep center in the fifth inning. The Cubs might not yet be rolling over the NL Central as some pundits thought they would, but that's no fault of Rizzo, who is currently hitting .321/.471/.513. Miguel Cabrera hit his sixth home run of the season in Sunday's win over the Royals.

He's hitting .366/.459/.624 with six homers, 19 RBI and 13 runs scored this season. The numbers speak for themselves. Cabrera remains a perennial MVP candidate and one of the best hitters in the game. Rotoworld.com

James Loney walked and hit a solo home run in four trips to the plate in a loss to the Orioles on Sunday.

Advice: Loney's second-inning solo home run came against Wei-Yin Chen and was the only scoring either side would do through the first four innings. The first baseman, who battled an oblique injury in April, has two home runs, six RBI, and is hitting .286/.342/.514 in 38 plate appearances thus far. Rotoworld.com

He had been seeing starts in left field more recently. The utilityman has been a surprising source of offense for the Braves as he has five home runs with 13 RBI, and is batting .250/.297/.533. • Blanks picks up four hits, drives in three
Kyle Blanks went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's win over the A's.

Advice: Talk about making an immediate impact. This was just Blanks' third game of the season after being called up in the wake of Mitch Mooreland's elbow injury. Against the A's, the big first baseman hit almost everything thrown his way, with a home run, a double and a pair of singles. Blanks now has home runs in back-to-back games and should be seriously considered in deeper mixed leagues until Mooreland returns. With Triple-A Round Rock, he was hitting .327/.419/.635. • Pujols slugs fourth homer in loss to Giants
Albert Pujols slugged his fourth home run of the season Saturday in the Angels' loss to the Giants.

Advice: The seventh-inning shot off Tim Hudson was Albert's only hit of the game. He sat out Thursday and Friday with a left hamstring injury but told reporters late Saturday that it's no longer bothering him. The 35-year-old is batting just .210/.289/.395 on the young season, but he should be good for 25-plus dingers if he can stay mostly healthy. Rotoworld.com

  • Michael Morse not in Marlins lineup Saturday
Michael Morse is not in the Marlins starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Phillies.

Matt Adams had a walk-off RBI single in Friday's 2-1 win over the Pirates in 10 innings.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle elected to intentionally walk Matt Holliday to load the bases, but Adams delivered an opposite-field single to end it. Logan Morrison was 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a triple in Friday's loss to the Astros.

Kelly Johnson blasted a two-run homer in the fifth inning on Friday, powering the Braves to a 4-3 victory over the Reds.

Advice: It was his lone hit in four at-bats on the evening, but he certainly made the most of it, lining an Anthony DeSclafani offering over the wall in right that proved to be the difference in the ballgame. • Joe Mauer goes 3-for-5 in win
Joe Mauer went 3-for-5 with two RBI for a second straight game Thursday versus the White Sox.

Advice: Mauer went homerless in April, but he does finish the money with a .318 average and 13 RBI in 22 games. It's just too bad the guys behind him have played so poorly; he's scored a total of seven runs despite a near-.400 OBP. Rotoworld.com

  • Pujols (hamstring) hopes to play this weekend
Albert Pujols said Thursday that his left hamstring was feeling better and that he's hopeful of playing Saturday or Sunday in San Francisco.

  • Matt Adams homers, drives in three vs. Phils
Matt Adams finished 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI in Thursday's 9-3 rout of the Phillies.

Advice: Adams singled in the first inning, slugged a two-run bomb in the third inning, and then whacked an RBI single that scored Matt Holliday in the bottom of the fifth inning. Adams went 8-for-13 with six RBI in the Cardinals' four-game series against the Phillies and now carries a .304/.338/.493 slash line with 14 RBI through 20 total games this season. • Albert Pujols says left hamstring feels 'OK'
Albert Pujols told reporters Thursday morning that his left hamstring feels "OK."

Advice: But he is not in the Angels' lineup Thursday afternoon in Oakland and he probably won't get any starts during the team's weekend series in San Francisco, where there will be no option to DH him. Pujols pulled up lame on a base hit in the sixth inning Wednesday night and had to limp off the field, but he believes it was just a hamstring cramp. Rotoworld.com

  • Ryan Howard batting cleanup on Thursday
Ryan Howard is batting cleanup for the Phillies on Thursday afternoon against the Cardinals.

  • Pujols (hamstring) expected to avoid the DL
Albert Pujols is expected to avoid the disabled list after leaving Wednesday's game with hamstring tightness.

Advice: Pujols is set to miss at least a couple of games, though. C.J. Cron will start at first base unless the Angels decide to call up Efren Navarro. James Loney smacked a go-ahead RBI single in the 13th inning Wednesday as the Rays topped the Yankees 3-2.

Miguel Cabrera went 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in the Tigers' 10-7 win over the Twins on Wednesday afternoon at Minnesota's Target Field.

Advice: What an amazing hitter. Cabrera slugged an RBI double in the top of the fourth inning that scored Ian Kinsler, a 432-foot solo bomb to deep left-center in the top of the sixth, and then a 418-foot two-run shot to deep center in the top of the eighth. He added a sacrifice fly RBI later in the game. Bautista admitted that he still has some soreness and tightness in his right shoulder, but he plans to play through it going forward after missing the previous five games. The slugger sports a .149/.322/.426 batting line with four home runs this season. Rotoworld.com

  • Swisher (knee) still on rehab assignment
Nick Swisher (knees) will travel to Rochester with Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.

Advice: The plan calls for Swisher get consecutive days in the outfield by the weekend and then possibly join the Indians early next week. The veteran outfielder is making his way back from surgery on both of his knees. He's probably not going to be a great fantasy asset when healthy. Rotoworld.com

  • Napoli not in Red Sox lineup Monday night
Mike Napoli is out of the Red Sox starting lineup on Monday against the Blue Jays due to illness.

Advice: Napoli slugged his first home run of the season Saturday night at Camden Yards, but he followed that up with an 0-for-5 and two strikeouts in Sunday's series finale. The 33-year-old is batting just .169 with a .542 OPS in 18 games this season. Daniel Nava is at first base and Brock Holt is in right field Monday versus Toronto. Rotoworld.com

  • Bautista (shoulder) will take BP on Monday
Jose Bautista (shoulder) is planning to take batting practice before Monday's game in Boston.

Advice: He won't be in the Blue Jays' starting lineup on Monday night, but Bautista does expect to return at some point during this three-game series at Fenway Park. The 34-year-old slugger has been out since last Tuesday with a right shoulder strain. He had four home runs and 10 RBI in 14 games before the injury. Rotoworld.com

  • Mauer's triple wins game in extra-innings
Joe Mauer tripled to drive in two runs in the eleventh inning, helping the Twins to a 4-2 win.

Advice: Mauer hit the big triple off of Tyler Olson. In addition to the extra-inning heroics, he also smacked an RBI double in the third inning. He would finish the game 3-for-5 with a walk and three RBI. The Twins star now has eight hits in his last 19 at-bats and is slashing .299/.392/.373. Mauer's lack of power remains a concern (he has yet to hit a home run and hit just four last season), but he's clearly seeing the ball well as the calendar nears May. Hopefully Sunday's game is a sign of things to come. Rotoworld.com

  • Miguel Cabrera drives in three versus Indians
Miguel Cabrera finished 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI as the Tigers topped the Indians 8-6 on Sunday.

Advice: Miggy singled in the first inning, singled and scored in the third inning, jacked a two-run shot in the sixth inning, and then plated James McCann with a sacrifice fly in the eighth. Cabrera is off to a tremendous start in 2015, batting .377/.463/.580 with three home runs and 13 RBI in 19 games. Rotoworld.com

  • Jose Bautista hopes to return early this week
Jose Bautista (shoulder) is hoping to return to the lineup during the series versus the Red Sox early this week.

Advice: Bautista hasn't played since Tuesday due to a sore right shoulder, although he reported continued improvement on Sunday. The club will ease the outfielder back into things in the designated hitter spot initially before eventually returning him to the field. Michael Saunders is in right field Sunday. Rotoworld.com

  • Napoli's big game not enough to lift Red Sox
Mike Napoli hit a two-run home run off of Wei-Yin Chen in Saturday's extra-innings loss to the Orioles.

Advice: The home run was Napoli's first of the season and doubled his RBI total to four. He also added a pair of singles to finish 3-for-4. Even with the big effort, his season-slash still sits at a paltry .183/.300/.283. Owners should exercise patience with Napoli. His tendency to whiff can lead to prolonged slumps, but so long as he remains healthy, he'll probably be good for 20+ home runs and a fair number of RBI in a stacked Red Sox lineup. Rotoworld.com

  • Howard mashes two-run homer in loss to ATL
Ryan Howard hit a two-run homer in Saturday's loss to the Braves.

Advice: The dinger was Howard's second of the season. He hit the two-run shot off of Braves starter Shelby Miller in the fourth inning and put the Phillies out to a 2-0 lead, but that home run would represent the only runs the 6-12 Phillies scored in the 5-2 loss. Howard's now hitting just .189/.246/.358, with two home runs and six RBI and has shown little evidence that his bat might suddenly regain its glory of yore. If we're stretching for signs of life, he does have two home runs in his last four games. Rotoworld.com

  • Justin Morneau not in lineup on Saturday
Justin Morneau is not in the Rockies tarting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: The Rockies are giving Morneau plenty of days off early in the season to keep him fresh for the long haul. Daniel Descalso is starting in his place at first base and hitting sixth for the Rockies. Rotoworld.com

  • Matt Adams not in Cardinals lineup Saturday
Matt Adams is not in the Cardinals starting lineup on Saturday.

  • Reds release veteran Dan Johnson from minors
    Reds released 1B Dan Johnson.

Advice: The 35-year-old failed to earn a spot on the Astros Opening Day bench, then hit .069 (2-for-29) in his nine games at Triple-A Louisville. It's unclear if he'll explore opportunities elsewhere or decide to hang up his spikes. Rotoworld.com

  • Loney homers in return from disabled list
James Loney hit a two-run home run off of R.A. Dickey in the fourth inning of Friday's blowout win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Loney had not played since April 6th, as the first baseman's been recovering from a right oblique strain. He came back in style, swatting the big fly in the fourth inning of a game in which the Rays would score 12 runs on 13 hits. Loney hit .290/.386/.380 in 2014. He has a bit of pop in his bat, but he isn't worth owning in mixed leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Logan Morrison hits first homer
Logan Morrison hit his first homer Friday off the Twins' Phil Hughes.

Advice: Morrison hadn't had an extra-base hit or an RBI in 51 at-bats entering this one. On the other hand, he's struck out just six times, so one would think the hits would start coming soon. The Mariners don't really have another first baseman, so they'll be slow to pull the plug on Morrison if his slump lingers. They could put Seth Smith there if necessary. Rotoworld.com

  • Swisher collects three hits in rehab game
Nick Swisher (knees) went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI in his first rehab game with Triple-A Columbus on Friday.

Advice: Swisher will play another on Saturday before the Indians determine when he'll be able to return to the active roster. He's expected to serve as the Indians everyday right fielder upon his return. Rotoworld.com

  • Texieira homers twice and drives in four
Mark Teixeira hit a pair of two-run homers off of Jacob deGrom in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Mets.

Advice: Teixeira hit his home runs in the first and third innings before quieting. He finished the contest 2-for-4 with four RBI. The veteran first baseman has shown fantastic power through the first three weeks, with seven home runs and 17 driven in. As good as he's been with the power-stick, he's been just as mediocre in his average, thus leading to a crescendo of a slash-line: .218/.333/.673. The average is never coming back, but if he stays healthy, he could be in for his best home run season since hitting 24 back in 2012. Of course, the "if" on the health aspect in the equation is a big "if." Rotoworld.com

  • Rizzo has three hits, homer to pace Cubs
Anthony Rizzo filled up the box score in Friday's 7-3 extra-inning victory over the Reds, going 3-for-4 with a double, homer and two RBI.

Advice: Rizzo also drew a walk, scored a pair of runs and swiped his fourth base of the season. His two-run shot off Mike Leake got the Cubs on the board in the fourth inning. He's off to a terrific start at the dish this season, slashing .345/.493/.509 with two long balls and seven RBI. Rotoworld.com

  • Nick Swisher (knees) to be re-evaluated Mon.
Nick Swisher (knees) will be re-evaluated by the Indians on Monday after playing two rehab games with Triple-A Columbus over the weekend.

Advice: Assuming he doesn't have a setback, he should be activated from the disabled list at that point. Swisher will play right field once back with the Tribe, as he believes that will put less stress on his surgically-repaired knees. Rotoworld.com

Jose Bautista (shoulder) is likely to return to the lineup at some point over the weekend.

Advice: Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said that Bautista's sore right shoulder is improving rapidly to the point that he's ruled out the possibility of a disabled list stint. The club will ease the outfielder back into things in the designated hitter spot initially before eventually returning him to the field. Rotoworld.com

Jose Bautista (shoulder) remained out of the Blue Jays' lineup Friday.

  • James Loney returns from disabled list
Rays activated 1B James Loney from the 15-day disabled list.

Advice: Loney needed just one rehab game to show that he was over his right oblique strain. The first baseman wound up missing just over a week of action. Allan Dykstra, who had been filling in at first in Loney's absence, has been sent down in a corresponding move. Rotoworld.com
