  • Heyman: Carl Crawford on the trading block
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports is hearing the Dodgers could make Carl Crawford available in a trade this offseason.

Advice: Once a perennial All-Star and among the best all-around outfielders in baseball, Crawford has faded into mediocrity while battling injuries the last several seasons. Teams probably won't be lining up for a 34-year-old who batted .265 last year. Crawford's exorbitant salary will make it even harder to move him. Trading Crawford would give the Dodgers more money to spend on Zack Greinke but for now, it's a pipe dream. Yesterday, 7:22 pm
  • Indians have spoken to OF Shane Victorino
Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Indians have spoken to free agent outfielder Shane Victorino.

Advice: The 35-year-old has dealt with a wide array of injuries that have limited him to just 101 games the past two seasons. When healthy though, he's exactly the type of player that the Tribe could use while Michael Brantley recovers from his injury, a strong defensive outfielder who can play all three positions and who gets on base at an above average clip. • Randal Grichuk (elbow) yet to start throwing
Brian Stull of CBS Sports reports that while Randal Grichuk (elbow) is feeling strong, he has yet to begin throwing.

Advice: The outfielder missed time late in the season with a right elbow injury. He's expected to begin throwing late next month and should be fully healthy and ready to go for spring training. The 24-year-old had is coming off a strong 2015 campaign where he slashed .276/.329/.548 with 17 homers and 47 RBI in 103 games. Friday, 4:37 pm
  • Dayan Viciedo nearing deal with Japanese club reports that Dayan Viciedo is nearing a contract with the Chunichi Dragons of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.

Advice: Viciedo spent all of 2015 at the Triple-A level with a couple different teams, batting .287/.348/.450 with eight home runs across 276 plate appearances. He'll turn just 27 in March but has apparently decided signing with a club overseas is his best option. Friday, 10:34 am

  • Braves sign Tuiasosopo to minor league deal
Braves signed OF Matt Tuiasosopo to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Advice: Tuiasosopo, 29, spent the 2015 season with the Triple-A affiliate for the White Sox while batting .230/.344/.447 with 18 home runs and 52 RBI over 103 games. He hasn't appeared in the majors since 2013 as a member of the Tigers, but with the Braves in tear-down mode, anything is possible. Tuesday, 11:12 am

  • Tigers not expected to re-sign Rajai Davis
According to Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press, the Tigers are unlikely to re-sign free agent Rajai Davis.

Advice: The club had extended Davis an offer this offseason before they decided to acquire Cameron Maybin from the Braves last week. That almost assuredly pushes Davis out of the picture as the club already has four outfielders under contract and considers Davis primarily a platoon option. The 35-year-old slashed .258/.306/.440 with eight homers, 30 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 370 plate appearances in 2015. Nov 22, 7:32 pm

  • Orioles could reunite with L.J. Hoes
Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports wrote that the Orioles "still have interest" in free agent OF L.J. Hoes.

Advice: Hoes elected to become a free agent in mid-October after spending the 2015 season with the Astros. He managed four hits in 15 at-bats with the big league squad. The 25-year-old outfielder was actually drafted by the Orioles in the third round of the 2008 amateur draft. For his career, he's the owner of a .237/.289/.328 batting line. Nov 22, 12:14 pm

  • Nats ink Chris Heisey to minor league deal
Nationals signed OF Chris Heisey to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Rockies signed OF Brandon Barnes to a one-year contract, avoiding arbitration.

Advice: Terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed. projected Barnes to make $1.2 million through arbitration this winter. The 29-year-old outfielder appeared in 106 games for the Rockies in 2015, slashing .251/.314/.341 with two homers, 17 RBI and four stolen bases. He's expected to once again function as a reserve outfielder for the Rockies. Nov 20, 5:39 pm
  • Rockies purchase contract of Raimel Tapia
Rockies purchased the contract of OF Raimel Tapia from High-A Modesto.

Advice: The move adds the 21-year-old outfielder to the 40-man roster and protects him from the Rule 5 draft. Tapia slashed .305/.333/.467 with 12 homers, 71 RBI and 26 swipes in 131 games at High-A Modesto in 2015. He's expected to begin the 2016 campaign at Double-A. Nov 20, 5:34 pm
  • Rays designate Daniel Nava for assignment
Rays designated OF Daniel Nava for assignment.

Advice: The 32-year-old had a miserable 2015 campaign, slashing a mere .194/.315/.245 with one homer, 10 RBI and a 36/20 K/BB ratio over 166 plate appearances between the Red Sox and Rays. He'll likely have to settle for a minor league deal this winter. Nov 20, 4:57 pm

  • Athletics designate Gentry for assignment
Athletics designated OF Craig Gentry for assignment.

Advice: Gentry saw 50 at-bats with the A's in 2015. He did very little with them. The veteran outfielder slashed just .120/.196/.200 in that limited stretch of action. Still, Gentry will likely find a home elsewhere, as he's a proven bench option if nothing else. Nov 20, 12:57 pm

  • Mariners trade Ramon Flores to Brewers
Brewers acquired OF Ramon Flores from the Mariners for 2B Luis Sardinas.

Advice: Flores time with the Mariners turns out to be short lived. He joined the team at the end of July as part of the club's Dustin Ackley trade. The 23-year-old missed the final month-and-a-half of the 2015 campaign due to a compound ankle fracture. Nov 20, 10:25 am
