  • Rougned Odor homers, plates three in loss
Rougned Odor continued his hot hitting in Sunday's loss to the Angels, going 1-for-4 with a homer and three RBI.

Advice: All of his damage came long after the outcome of the game had been decided. His two-run blast off Trevor Gott in the seventh inning closed the deficit to 12-5, and he added a sacrifice fly in the final frame. Since returning from Triple-A, he's hitting a blistering .365 (23-for-63) with three homers, 13 RBI and four stolen bases in 18 games. Rotoworld.com

  • Marlins will recall Valdespin from Triple-A
Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports that the Marlins will recall Jordany Valdespin from Triple-A New Orleans.

Advice: He'll take the spot of Marcell Ozuna on the Marlins active roster after the outfielder was demoted on Sunday. Valdespin was pulled from his game at Triple-A shortly afterwards and is heading to join the team in Boston for Tuesday's game, though the move hasn't been announced yet. Rotoworld.com

  • Cabrera doubles home run in loss to Orioles
Melky Cabrera went 1-for-3 with an RBI double in Sunday's loss to the Orioles.

Advice: The double was his 11th of the season, the RBI his 30th. Cabrera has played well of late with a triple, two doubles and two homers in his last seven games, but he's still slashing just .259/.299/.330 for the year. He's hit three home runs in 309 at-bats. Rotoworld.com

  • Marlins option Marcell Ozuna to Triple-A
Marlins optioned OF Marcell Ozuna to Triple-A New Orleans.

Advice: It's a very curious move for the Marlins, who are struggling as a team on offense, to demote their starting center fielder to Triple-A. While he has struggled of late, the 24-year-old is still hitting a respectable .249/.301/.337 on the season with four homers and 26 RBI in 79 games. Rotoworld.com

  • Howard hitless, but knocks in the winning run
Ryan Howard went 0-for-4, but knocked in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning on Sunday against the Braves.

Advice: The two clubs were knotted in a scoreless tie heading into the 10th inning, but the Phillies rallied to load the bases with no outs for Howard, facing lefty reliever Dana Eveland. Howard lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to bring in the first of four 10th-inning runs. Since his last home run on June 19, Howard has hit the skids, batting .135 (7-for-52) in his last 14 games. He's hitting .217/.262/.427 with 13 home runs and 38 RBI on the year. Rotoworld.com

  • Hernandez steals 2 bases, extends hit streak
Cesar Hernandez went 3-for-4 with a walk and two stolen bases as the Phillies won in 10 innings against the Braves on Sunday.

Advice: Hernandez is on a 10-game hitting streak now, with six of those games featuring multiple hits. He singled in the 10th inning to help the Phillies break a scoreless tie. The pair of stolen bases brings him up to 11 in 14 attempts on the season. There's no way his .299/.385/.385 line is sustainable as he has a .556 BABIP since June 22, but he'll get playing time and stolen base opportunities while he's hot so he has fantasy utility for the time being. • Kiermaier triples, extends major league lead
Kevin Kiermaier extended his major league lead in triples to eight, finishing 2-for-4 in Sunday's victory against the Yankees.

Advice: Kiermaier tripled to lead off the second inning and later scored on Curt Casali's sacrifice fly for the Rays' third run of the game. Despite his propensity for triples, Kiermaier hasn't done much else at the plate this year, batting .255/.289/.419 with four home runs and 16 RBI. He has scored 35 runs as well. Rotoworld.com

  • Pirates claim Travis Ishikawa off waivers
Pirates claimed 1B/OF Travis Ishikawa off waivers from the Giants.

Advice: Ishikawa was actually the Pirates' Opening Day first baseman last season but didn't last with the club for long. The veteran has spent almost all of 2015 at Triple-A, batting .271/.342/.421 with four homers over 34 games. He'll give the Pirates a backup option at first base and the corner outfield spots. • Nate Freiman outrighted to Triple-A
Athletics sent 1B Nate Freiman outright to Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: He cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and will remain in the organization. Freiman has hit only .171/.225/.188 over 35 games this season for Nashville. Rotoworld.com

Tim Federowicz (knee) will begin a rehab assignment around the All-Star break.

Advice: Working his way back from surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee, Federowicz will need most, if not all, of his 20-day rehab allotment. He could be an option for the Padres in early August. Rotoworld.com

Nick Swisher (knee) is on track to begin a rehab assignment just after the All-Star break.

  • C.J. Cron hits three-run homer, knocks in six
C.J. Cron went 3-for-6 with a three-run homer and six RBI in the rout the Rangers on Saturday.

Advice: The outburst was appreciated, but Cron needs to come up big in games the Angels aren't winning 13-0. He entered the night with a .198/.228/.281 line and a 30/2 K/BB ratio in 121 at-bats. The Angels are starved for offense, though, so this might earn him some extra playing time. Rotoworld.com

  • Jake Marisnick to return from DL on Sunday
Jake Marisnick (hamstring) is scheduled to return from the disabled list on Sunday.

Advice: The center fielder played three games on a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno, going 2-for-12 with a pair of walks. He'll rejoin the team on Sunday, though there is a chance that they'll wait on his activation until Monday. Rotoworld.com

  • Hernandez drives in lone run in loss to ATL
Cesar Hernandez went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in Friday's loss to the Braves.

Advice: Hernandez's RBI single off Julio Teheran in the fourth inning would score the only run that the Phillies managed in the game. While his power is almost non-existent, he should continue to see at-bats as long as he's able to keep up the average portion of his .285/.374/.376 slash-line. Rotoworld.com

  • Travis Ishikawa designated for assignment
Giants designated 1B/OF Travis Ishikawa for assignment.

Advice: It's the second time since late May that he's been removed from the 40-man roster. Ishikawa, who is hitless in just six at-bats for the Giants this season, will likely declare free agency if he clears waivers and is outrighted. Rotoworld.com

Athletics designated 1B Nate Freiman for assignment.

  • Kiermaier doubles in loss to Indians
Kevin Kiermaier went 1-for-5 with a double in Thursday's loss to the Indians.

Advice: The double was Kiermaier's 16th of the season and snapped an 0-for-13 skid. He also struck out just once, in a game where Indian pitching fanned 19 batters. Kiermaier's hitting .251/.285/.408 with four homers and 15 RBI this season. Of late, he's complained of general soreness and lethargy, so it's possible he'll see a few more rest days in the coming weeks. Rotoworld.com

  • Hernandez to get a chance to stick at 2B?
Phillies interim manager Pete Mackanin said Tuesday that he "would like to think that Cesar (Hernandez) has proven that he deserves a chance to be the everyday second baseman."

Advice: Hernandez, 25, entered Tuesday batting .277/.365/.365 on the season and .328/.394/.406 in June. Chase Utley, meanwhile, is on the disabled list with an ankle injury and sports an ugly .179/.257/.275 line this season. It's hard to believe the Phils would bench Utley even given his struggles, and Mackanin did note that he didn't "want to get ahead of myself." However, if Hernandez keeps performing, it's possible. Notable is that the Phillies have a $15 million club option for 2016 on Utley that automatically vests if he reaches 500 plate appearances. Rotoworld.com

  • Marisnick (hamstring) to begin rehab on Wed.
Jake Marisnick (hamstring) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A Fresno.

Advice: Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle suspects that Marisnick will be cleared to rejoin the Astros' active roster next Monday in Cleveland. The 24-year-old outfielder has been on the shelf since June 19 with a strained hamstring. He boasts five homers and 11 stolen bases in 62 games this season. Rotoworld.com

  • Cron's homer does the job in win vs. Yankees
C.J. Cron went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, helping the Angels edge the Yankees on Monday.

Advice: Cron, recently recalled from Triple-A, drilled his second big league home run of the season in the seventh inning off of CC Sabathia to pad the Angels' lead to 4-1. He hasn't hit much in the majors this season, but has crushed Triple-A competition in two short stints. Rotoworld.com

  • Hernandez stays hot with 2 more hits in loss
Cesar Hernandez's bat continued to stay hot as he went 2-for-4 with an RBI, a run, and a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Fresh off a four-hit performance on Sunday, Hernandez logged his fifth multi-hit performance in seven games on Monday. He knocked in the Phillies' first run in the first inning with an infield single and later came around to score on a balk. Hernandez is batting .277/.365/.365 with 25 runs scored, 16 RBI, and seven stolen bases and is now getting regular at-bats while Chase Utley is sidelined. It's not known yet when Utley returns, so those in daily leagues might find utility in Hernandez as a cheap source of stolen bases. Rotoworld.com

  • Gomes' big night aids in Indians win vs. Rays
Yan Gomes went 3-for-5 with a double and a solo home run as the Indians topped the Rays 7-1 on Monday.

Advice: Gomes doubled to lead off the second inning and later came around to score the Indians' second run in the second inning. He drilled a solo home run to left-center in the eighth off of reliever Kirby Yates to add some insurance. The catcher has battled injuries throughout the year, limiting him to a .211/.226/.330 batting line with three home runs and nine RBI in 115 plate appearances. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 7:15 pm
  • C.J. Cron recalled from Triple-A
Angels recalled 1B/DH C.J. Cron from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: Cron is batting just .204/.237/.269 in his time with the big club this season. He'll see some time versus left-handers. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 1:26 pm
  • Kevin Kiermaier back in Rays' lineup Monday
Kevin Kiermaier is back in the Rays' lineup Monday against the Indians.

Advice: He was out of the lineup Saturday because of general soreness but returned to make a pinch-hitting appearance on Sunday. Kiermaier will bat leadoff and play center field. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 12:33 pm
  • Kiermaier makes pinch-hitting appearance
Kevin Kiermaier pinch-hit in the ninth inning Sunday against the Red Sox.

Advice: He struck out on three pitches against Koji Uehara. Manager Kevin Cash kept Kiermaier out of the starting lineup for the second straight day because his legs were feeling "a little drained." The pinch-hitting appearance suggests Kiermaier could be back in the starting nine Monday versus Cleveland. David DeJesus has started in left field the last two games with Kiermaier absent. • Hernandez's four-hit day contributes to a win
Cesar Hernandez singled four times in as many at-bats, helping the Phillies in a win over the Nationals in the back end of Sunday's doubleheader.

Advice: It's the second four-hit game of Hernandez's career, with the other occuring on September 28, 2013. The Phillies, despite scoring eight runs, only brought him home once, at the end of their four-run second inning. Hernandez has been hitting well as of late, logging multi-hit efforts in three of his last five games. With Chase Utley on the shelf, he should be a regular in the lineup. He's hitting .271/.361/.361 in 163 plate appearances. Rotoworld.com

  • Melky Cabrera goes deep in loss to Tigers
Melky Cabrera went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Batting out of the cleanup spot, Cabrera took David Price out to left field in the fourth inning. He then added singles in his next two trips to the plate. The longball was Cabrera's first since May 6, although he's been heating up at the plate of late with 12 hits in his last 27 at-bats. Rotoworld.com
    Jun 28, 1:20 pm
  • Rougned Odor picks up three more hits
Rougned Odor went 3-for-5 at the plate in Sunday's loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: One of the hits was a double to lead off the ninth inning, but Odor was stranded as the Rangers fell by one. The young infielder now has three three-hit games this month since being recalled and is batting .395 overall in June with four stolen bases. He shouldn't be unowned in your league at this point, but if he is, correct that situation now. Rotoworld.com

  • Rougned Odor fills up box score on Saturday
Rougned Odor filled up the box score on Saturday, going 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI in a 4-0 victory over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Odor plated the Rangers first run with a sacrifice fly in the first inning and added a solo blast off Matt Boyd in the seventh. He also swiped a base in the contest. He has been on an absolute tear since returning from the minor leagues, hitting .364 (12-for-33) with two homers, nine RBI and three stolen bases. Rotoworld.com

  • Ryan Howard not in Phillies lineup Saturday
Ryan Howard is not in the Phillies starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: It's nothing more than a day of rest against tough southpaw Gio Gonzalez. Maikel Franco is getting the start at first base while Andres Blanco covers the hot corner. Look for Howard to return on Sunday. Rotoworld.com

  • Kevin Kiermaier not in Rays lineup Saturday
Kevin Kiermaier is not in the Rays starting lineup on Saturday against the Red Sox.

Advice: It's interesting that Kiermaier is on the pine against left-hander Wade Miley while David DeJesus draws a start in left field. The 25-year-old is hitting .266/.301/.430 with four homers and 15 RBI in 237 at-bats on the season. Rotoworld.com
