  • Vogt's 5-RBI night not enough in loss to MIN
Stephen Vogt finished 3-for-5 with a grand slam and an RBI double in Monday's loss versus the Twins.

Advice: Vogt sent the A's up 4-0 early with a first-inning grand slam off of Phil Hughes. He added an RBI double in the ninth in an attempt to help his team stage a comeback, but it fell short. Vogt homered twice and knocked in four runs on Sunday, continuing what has been a highly productive season. He's batting .372/.462/.718 with seven home runs and 25 RBI on the season.

  • Bogaerts triples but Red Sox fall to the Rays
Xander Bogaerts went 1-for-3 with an RBI triple, but the Red Sox lost 5-1 to the Rays on Monday.

Advice: Bogaerts' second-inning RBI triple off of Jake Odorizzi ended up being the only offense the Red Sox would generate on the evening. The shortstop hasn't done much at the dish as he's still looking for his first multi-hit game since April 17. Bogaerts is batting .264/.326/.368 with one home run and 11 RBI in 95 plate appearances.

  • Ruf logs 3 hits, scores twice in Phils' win
Darin Ruf went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Monday's win over the Braves.

Advice: Ruf was in the lineup at first base, spelling Ryan Howard, as the left-handed Alex Wood started for the Braves. It was no surprise that Ruf performed well as he has a career .864 OPS against lefties. Ruf, batting .229/.296/.438 with two home runs and five RBI, has no use in traditional fantasy leagues, but can provide some value every now and then in DFS.

  • Anthony Rendon shut down with oblique strain
Anthony Rendon (knee) will be shut down indefinitely after being diagnosed with a left oblique strain.

Advice: It's been a nightmarish start to the season for Rendon, who has been out all year with a left MCL sprain and now a strained oblique. The Nationals aren't sure how serious the oblique strain is at this point but hope to know more after the infielder is examined further on Tuesday. It's probably a safe bet that we won't see Rendon this month.

  • Rendon (knee, side) out again Monday at AA
Anthony Rendon (knee, side) is not in the lineup at Double-A Harrisburg on Monday.

Advice: He has now missed three straight games at Harrisburg with oblique discomfort. Rendon had been aiming to return from his late-spring knee sprain before the end of April, but he can now be ruled out for another week at least. If it's an oblique strain that he's dealing with -- as opposed to just discomfort -- Rendon might not debut until mid-to-late May.

  • Nick Swisher (knees) to be activated Tuesday
Indians manager Terry Francona said Nick Swisher (knees) will be activated from the disabled list Tuesday.

Advice: Tyler Holt will be optioned to Triple-A Columbus to open a spot on the Indians' 25-man roster. Swisher missed all of April while rehabbing from dual knee surgeries. He batted just .208/.278/.331 with eight home runs and 42 RBI in 97 games last season for the Indians and the 34-year-old seems doubtful to carry significant value this summer in standard fantasy leagues.

  • Mike Napoli launches three-run homer in loss
Mike Napoli launched a three-run homer in a losing effort against the Yankees on Sunday night.

Advice: His towering drive off Esmil Rogers capped a three-run Red Sox uprising in the sixth inning, pulling them to within three at 8-5, though that would be as close as the score would get. Napoli finished the night 1-for-3 and also drew a walk. He has been in quite the funk offensively through the first month-plus of the season, hitting .167/.278/.295 with two homers and seven RBI.

Stephen Vogt hit home runs in back-to-back innings against the Rangers on Sunday, finishing the game with four RBI.

Advice: Vogt hit a solo home run off of Yovani Gallardo in the sixth inning, then topped himself the next inning, slugging a three-run shot off Alex Claudio. He finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored, four RBI and two walks. The big game gives Vogt six home runs for the season and 20 RBI. Matt Adams had a walk-off RBI single in Friday's 2-1 win over the Pirates in 10 innings.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle elected to intentionally walk Matt Holliday to load the bases, but Adams delivered an opposite-field single to end it. Advice: Adams singled in the first inning, slugged a two-run bomb in the third inning, and then whacked an RBI single that scored Matt Holliday in the bottom of the fifth inning. Adams went 8-for-13 with six RBI in the Cardinals' four-game series against the Phillies and now carries a .304/.338/.493 slash line with 14 RBI through 20 total games this season. • Ryan Howard batting cleanup on Thursday
Ryan Howard is batting cleanup for the Phillies on Thursday afternoon against the Cardinals.

  • Howard belts 4th homer in a loss to Cardinals
Ryan Howard went 1-for-4 with his fifth home run of the season in Wednesday's loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Howard ripped a Carlos Martinez offering to right field for a solo home run in the fourth inning, tying the game at one apiece at the time. The first baseman has started to find his power stroke, homering in three out of his last five ballgames. Still, his batting line isn't impressive in the least at .191/.247/.412.

He added a sacrifice fly RBI later in the game. Jose Bautista went 2-for-4 with a walk, a sacrifice fly, an RBI single, and a solo home run to help the Blue Jays win on Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Bautista contributed a sacrifice fly to the Jays' five-run third inning, then helped kickstart a three-run fourth with an RBI single. In the eighth inning, he belted a solo home run off of Craig Breslow. Bautista returned to the lineup on Monday after battling a shoulder issue and went hitless, so it was good to see him swing well on Tuesday. McCann has been rather quiet offensively, as he's hitting just .250/.299/.417 with two home runs and nine RBI following Monday's game. 21 of the 25 home runs he has hit since signing with the Yankees have come at home, taking advantage of the short porch in right field.

Mike Napoli hit a two-run home run off of Wei-Yin Chen in Saturday's extra-innings loss to the Orioles.

Advice: The home run was Napoli's first of the season and doubled his RBI total to four. He also added a pair of singles to finish 3-for-4. Even with the big effort, his season-slash still sits at a paltry .183/.300/.283. Owners should exercise patience with Napoli. Ryan Howard hit a two-run homer in Saturday's loss to the Braves.

Advice: The dinger was Howard's second of the season. He hit the two-run shot off of Braves starter Shelby Miller in the fourth inning and put the Phillies out to a 2-0 lead, but that home run would represent the only runs the 6-12 Phillies scored in the 5-2 loss. Advice: Teixeira hit his home runs in the first and third innings before quieting. He finished the contest 2-for-4 with four RBI. The veteran first baseman has shown fantastic power through the first three weeks, with seven home runs and 17 driven in. As good as he's been with the power-stick, he's been just as mediocre in his average, thus leading to a crescendo of a slash-line: .218/.333/.673. The average is never coming back, but if he stays healthy, he could be in for his best home run season since hitting 24 back in 2012.
