    • Logan Webb makes swift work of D-backs in win
Logan Webb fired seven shutout innings on Thursday in a win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Webb retired a career-high 19 consecutive batters following back-to-back singles from Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll, respectively, to open the contest before issuing a one-out walk to Christian Walker in the seventh inning. The 27-year-old workhorse, who finished with five strikeouts and only issued one walk, completed seven frames for the third consecutive start in this one. He’ll bring a sparkling 2.93 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 22/6 K/BB ratio across 30 2/3 innings (five starts) into another home outing on Tuesday against the Mets. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:57 pm
    • Earns win in setup role
Leclerc (1-2) picked up the win Thursday, allowing two walks and striking out two over one scoreless inning in a 9-7 victory over the Tigers.

Advice: It was a wild affair in Detroit, as the Tigers came back from 4-0 and 7-4 deficits before the Rangers put it away in the final two innings. For Leclerc, it was his first time in what would be a considered a high-leverage spot since he was removed as the team's closer last weekend. He entered with two outs and two inherited runners in the seventh inning and escaped without damage. He became the pitcher of record an inning later when Texas broke a 7-7 tie. He worked around a pair of walks in the eighth before Kirby Yates came in for a four-out save. Since Leclerc lost the closer's job, the right-hander has not allowed a run and struck out six over four innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:10 pm
    • Brandon Drury (hamstring) pinch-hits on Thursday
Brandon Drury (hamstring) grounded out as a pinch-hitter on Thursday in the Angels’ loss to the Rays.

Advice: Drury was held out of the lineup for the third consecutive contest due to ongoing left hamstring tightness, but was able to come off the bench in the ninth inning of this one. The 31-year-old infielder remains day-to-day for now and should be a full-go in a couple days, if not sooner. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:51 pm

    • MRI on Rafael Devers’ knee reveals bone bruise
Rafael Devers is day-to-day with a left knee bone bruise.

Advice: Red Sox manager Alex Cora added that he doesn’t think Devers will require a trip to the injured list. It’s an extremely encouraging development for Boston, and fantasy managers, after a precautionary MRI on Thursday confirmed that Devers isn’t dealing with any major structural damage in his left knee. The 27-year-old fantasy superstar will likely require a few additional days off to rest and recover, but doesn’t appear to be facing an extended absence. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:47 pm

    • MRI reveals bone bruise
Imaging on Devers' left knee revealed a bone bruise Thursday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Manager Alex Cora said Devers will be viewed as day-to-day going forward, and a trip to the injured list isn't expected. Devers was removed from Tuesday's game due to his injury and attempted to play through it Wednesday, but the results of his MRI will presumably keep him out of the lineup for multiple games. Pablo Reyes will start at third base Thursday and will likely continue to do so while the All-Star infielder is sidelined. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:37 pm

    • Rafael Devers to undergo MRI on left knee
Rafael Devers will undergo an MRI on his left knee.

Advice: Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters Thursday that the additional imaging is more for peace of mind than anything else, but an MRI is still an MRI. He added that Devers wasn’t feeling great and had trouble staying on his leg on Wednesday. The 27-year-old was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Guardians when he experienced discomfort in his left knee. We’ll have to wait and see if the MRI revels anything significant, but it adds to the laundry list of injuries the Red Sox are dealing with earlier on this season. • Needs MRI on knee
Manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Devers is out of the lineup for the Red Sox's series finale versus the Guardians while he receives an MRI on his left knee, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Devers was removed from Tuesday's 10-7 loss to Cleveland due to left knee discomfort, but he felt well enough to serve as the Red Sox's designated hitter in Wednesday's 2-0 win. Though he played the entire game, Devers went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and didn't bounce back from the knee issue as strongly as he had hoped. Cora suggested the MRI is more precautionary than anything just to ensure nothing is structurally wrong with Devers' knee, but his availability for Friday's series opener in Pittsburgh would appear to be in jeopardy, nonetheless. • Rare day off Thursday
Arozarena is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Angels.

Advice: Arozarena will get just his second day off this season while he's stuck in a 2-for-23 rut at the plate that has dropped his slash line to .174/.240/.275 for the season. While Arozarena rests, Harold Ramirez will pick up a start in left field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:57 am
    • Heads to bench Thursday
Devers is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Cleveland, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Devers exited Tuesday's 10-7 loss to the Guardians with knee discomfort, but he returned to the lineup for Wednesday's 2-0 win as the Red Sox's designated hitter, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts while playing the full game. Despite the poor showing at the dish, Devers isn't believed to have experienced any renewed discomfort during the game, so his absence from the lineup Thursday looks to be mostly maintenance-related as Boston and Cleveland close their series with a day game after a night game. Devers is expected to be back in the lineup for Friday's series opener in Pittsburgh, though it's unclear if he'll immediately be able to take back his usual duties at third base.
