Josh Harrison is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Mariners.

Advice: David Freese will also take a seat against right-hander Felix Hernandez. Adam Frazier will start at second base and bat second while Jung Ho Kang will play third and bat fifth. Rotoworld.com Today, 11:44 am

  • Royals option Merrifield to Triple-A
Royals optioned INF Whit Merrifield to Triple-A Omaha.

Advice: Merrifield started out red-hot, but he was hitting just .170 (9-for-53) with 17 strikeouts and a .487 OPS through 16 games this month. The Royals have called up top prospect Raul Mondesi to take his place on the active roster. Rotoworld.com Today, 11:32 am
  • Arismendy Alcantara explodes for four hits
Athletics minor league INF/OF Arismendy Alcantara produced four hits in Monday's win for Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: He drove in four runs as the Sounds rolled to an easy 12-5 win over Omaha. Alcantara has been scorching hot over his last 10 games, hitting .510 with 12 RBI during that span while raising his season average from .238 to .282. The 24-year-old leads the Pacific Coast League with 28 steals and has only been caught three times this season. Alcantara was traded from the Cubs last month in a deal that sent Chris Coghlan back to Chicago. He's gone 3-for-13 in five games in the majors this year. Rotoworld.com Today, 11:30 am

  • Neil Walker not in lineup for 1st game of DH
Neil Walker is not in the Mets' lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

Advice: The Mets are rolling with the same lineup they were planning to use before Monday's game was rained out. Kelly Johnson will start at second base and bat fifth, but the struggling Walker should be back in the lineup for the second game. Rotoworld.com Today, 9:31 am

  • Javier Baez goes 3-for-4, homers
Javier Baez finished 3-for-4 with a homer and a doubles Monday against the White Sox.

Advice: Most of Baez's success this year has come off lefties, so it was nice to see him collect extra-base hits against a pair of righties in this one. It could help him earn some more playing time. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:10 pm

  • Gennett hits one of four Brewers homers
Scooter Gennett singled and ripped a solo home run in Monday's victory over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Gennett got the scoring going with a deep blast to center field in the first inning. It was one of four dingers the Brewers had on the night, as Jonathan Villar, Martin Maldonado and Andy Wilkins also went deep. Gennett has already tied his career high with nine home runs. • Derek Dietrich's slump continues Monday
Derek Dietrich was hitless in three trips to the plate Monday.

Advice: The Marlins managed just two singles all night against Jeremy Hellickson and the Phillies' bullpen. Dietrich now has just four hits over his last 41 at-bats, dropping his average from .307 to .275. It's a bad time for him to be slumping with Dee Gordon due back later this week. • Duffy making progress from Achilles injury
Matt Duffy (Achilles) could begin a minor league rehab assignment this weekend.

Advice: Duffy has been out for over a month with a left Achilles strain, but he ran curves Monday and is said to be "over the hump" with his injury. Barring a setback, a return in the early part of August appears within reach. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 5:24 pm

  • Panik (concussion) to begin rehab stint Tue.
Joe Panik (concussion) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Panik had to briefly halt his minor league rehab assignment last week, but he's back on track now and could join the Giants by the end of the week if all goes well. The 25-year-old has been out since June 27 due to concussion symptoms. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 5:13 pm

  • Phillies recall Taylor Featherston from AAA
Phillies recalled INF Taylor Featherston from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Advice: Featherston will take over for Andres Blanco, who landed on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a fractured index finger. Featherston, 26, was batting .264/.320/.446 with 12 home runs and 32 RBI through 87 games this season at the Triple-A level. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 11:35 am

  • Phillies place Andres Blanco (finger) on DL
Phillies placed INF Andres Blanco on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured left index finger.

Advice: Blanco suffered the injury Sunday in the Phillies' loss to the Pirates when Gregory Polanco slid into his hand at third base in the bottom of the fifth inning. Blanco could very well be done for the season. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 11:32 am

  • Schimpf slugs ninth homer of July vs. Nats
Ryan Schimpf slugged another home run Sunday as the Padres defeated the Nationals 10-6.

Advice: Schimpf hit an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning and a solo homer in the top of the eighth, finishing the day 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. The 28-year-old second baseman now has nine home runs in July, which is a new record for a Padres rookie in a single calendar month. Schimpf was raking at the Triple-A level prior to his mid-June promotion, so maybe this breakout is somewhat for real. Rotoworld.com Sunday, 2:19 pm
  • Andres Blanco (finger) headed to DL
Andres Blanco will be placed on the disabled list after being diagnosed with a fractured left index finger on Sunday.

Advice: Blanco suffered the injury when he was spiked. It's unclear at this point how long the utility infielder might be sidelined. Rotoworld.com Sunday, 1:36 pm

  • Prado's three hits fail to save Marlins
Martin Prado went 3-for-4 with a trio of singles in Sunday's loss to the Mets.

Advice: Only two other Marlins (Christian Yelich, Adeiny Hechavarria) secured hits on the afternoon. And only Prado managed a multi-hit effort. In total, the team collected five singles. It was that kind of a game for the Marlins. For his part, Prado is slashing .322/.373/.415 with 21 doubles, 35 RBI and 41 runs scored over 367 at-bats. While the veteran infielder isn't a particularly sexy fantasy option, he at least offers a very dependable average. Rotoworld.com Sunday, 1:26 pm

  • Carlos Sanchez recalled from Triple-A
White Sox recalled INF Carlos Sanchez from Triple-A Charlotte.

  • Joe Panik (concussion) has 'turned a corner'
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday that Joe Panik (concussion) has "turned a corner" in his recovery.

Advice: Panik had a setback with his concussion symptoms just a couple days ago but apparently has made lots of recent progress. He's going to remain out of the lineup while on his rehab assignment for a few more days but has been cleared to resume baseball activities. Rotoworld.com Sunday, 8:39 am

  • Prado has two hits, two RBI in win over Mets
Martin Prado went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Saturday's win over the Mets.

Advice: Prado had a pair of RBI singles in the win, the first in the fifth and another in the seventh inning. He's now got 35 RBI on the year. The 32-year-old doesn't produce many counting stats, but he's hitting .317/.366/.410 with 41 runs scored through 91 games. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 8:56 pm

Joe Panik (concussion) was checked by a doctor on Saturday and has been cleared to continue baseball work.

  • Jace Peterson hits fifth homer
Jace Peterson hit his fifth homer Friday against the Rockies' Jason Motte.

Advice: Peterson lost his job early this year and was sent down for a time, but he's been one of the Braves' best players this year, amassing a .743 OPS in 171 at-bats. Of course, with just 17 RBI, 23 runs scored and one steal in his 57 games, he still hasn't been able to do much for fantasy leaguers. That doesn't seem likely to change. Rotoworld.com Friday, 9:08 pm
  • Matt Duffy (Achilles) nears rehab games
Matt Duffy (Achilles) is a week away from beginning a rehab assignment.

Advice: Duffy's recovery from a strained Achilles has come slowly, but he's finally turned a corner. It's unclear how many rehab games he'll need before being activated, but he would seem to be tracking toward an early August return. Rotoworld.com Friday, 2:35 pm

  • Joe Panik (concussion) experiences setback
Joe Panik (concussion) didn't play in a scheduled rehab game Thursday because he "didn't feel good," according to Giants manager Bruce Bochy.

Advice: Bochy didn't specifically say that it was a setback with Panik's concussion symptoms, but it's safe to say that that's the case. At this point it's unclear when the second baseman will resume his rehab assignment. He's been out of commission since late June. Rotoworld.com Friday, 2:34 pm

  • Dietrich breaks slump with three-hit contest
Derek Dietrich went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Thursday's win over the Phillies.

Advice: Dietrich had been 8-for-43 in the month of July, and he was mired in a 1-for-24 slump heading into Thursday's game. He's still hitting .289/.378/.418 despite the slump, a nod to his strong first half. With Dee Gordon set to return from suspension in a handful of games, it remains to be seen where the 27-year-old Dietrich will find at-bats as the season continues. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 8:04 pm

  • Harrison not in Thursday's lineup
Josh Harrison is not in Thursday's lineup against the Brewers.

Advice: We haven't heard anything about an injury, so Harrison is presumably getting a day of rest. Adam Frazier will start at second base and bat leadoff against Matt Garza, so he makes for an interesting value play in DFS. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 1:15 pm

  • Panik (head) plays seven innings at AAA
Joe Panik (head) played seven innings of second base Wednesday night at Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: He also doubled and hit three pop-ups, finishing 1-for-4 in Sacramento's defeat of the Marlins' Triple-A affiliate from New Orleans. Panik remains on track to be activated from the concussion disabled list ahead of Friday night's series opener at Yankee Stadium. He has been on the shelf since June 29. • Schimpf homers in both games of twin bill
Ryan Schimpf clubbed his seventh home run of the season as the Padres dropped the nightcap of Wednesday's doubleheader to the Cardinals.

Advice: He also homered in a losing effort in the first game of the twin bill. While he's a potential drain in batting average, Schimpf has brought impressive power to the table since his recall from Triple-A, slashing .227/.337/.600 with seven homers and 13 RBI in just 89 plate appearances. He's worth a look in mixed leagues if lacking power in the middle infield. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 8:28 pm
  • A's recall Arismendy Alcantara from Nashville
Athletics recalled INF/OF Arismendy Alcantara from Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Alcantara has 28 steals in 31 attempts and a .750 OPS in 77 games this season between the Triple-A affiliates of the Cubs and Athletics. The versatile 24-year-old could take on fantasy value if he finds regular at-bats. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 9:07 am

  • Harrison's daring dash delivers walk-off win
Josh Harrison tripled and scored on a throwing error in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday, giving the Pirates a 3-2, walk-off win over the Brewers.

Advice: Harrison crushed a Tyler Thornburg pitch to deep center field and busted it out of the box, thinking triple all the way. The relay throw then skipped past third baseman Hernan Perez, letting Harrison walk home as the winning run. It certainly wasn't the most conventional way to walk off, but the Bucs will take it. The triple was Harrison's fifth of the season, and the second baseman is hitting .270/.299/.373 overall. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 9:23 pm

  • Matt Duffy (heel) said he had best day yet
Matt Duffy (heel) ran Tuesday and called it his best day since landing on the disabled list.

Advice: He also did some drills. Martin Prado delivered a go-ahead solo homer in the 11th inning of Monday's comeback win over the Phillies.

Advice: Prado led off the top of the 11th with a shot off of Brett Oberholtzer for his lone hit of the night. While he has only three home runs on the year, Prado has his season line up to .320/.370/.419. The average ranks fourth in the National League. Rotoworld.com Monday, 8:26 pm
