    • Julio Rodríguez crushes two-run homer in victory
Julio Rodríguez finished his Cactus League season in style on Tuesday, clobbering a two-run homer as the Mariners eked out a 7-6 victory over the Padres.

Advice: Rodríguez had just one at-bat in the ballgame and made the most of it, tagging Padres’ right-hander Michael King for a two-run blast in the home half of the first inning. He finishes the spring hitting a robust .394 (13-for-33) with two homers, seven RBI and one stolen base in 14 ballgames. A consensus top-five option in fantasy drafts, Rodríguez looks poised to hit the ground running when the regular season kicks off on Thursday. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:23 pm

    • Anthony Volpe hitless in loss to Diablos
Anthony Volpe went 0-for-2 with a strikeout and a walk in an 8-5 loss to Diablos Rojos del México in México City on Monday.

Advice: Volpe cooled off in his final four games of Spring Training going 3-for-13 but only struck out twice during that stretch. Prior to these final four games, Volpe was batting .368 in spring camp and has been swinging more for contact rather than power. If he can find a mix of both throughout the season, he can offer fantasy managers some value in a star-studded Yankees lineup. Rotoworld Monday, 8:30 pm

    • Likely to close while Sewald is out
Ginkel is the most likely option to close for the Diamondbacks while Paul Sewald (oblique) is sidelined, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Sewald could be facing a fairly lengthy absence after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 left oblique strain. While manager Torey Lovullo didn't want to name a closer in Sewald's absence, but all signs point to Ginkel getting the first crack at the job. The 30-year-old collected a 2.48 ERA and 70:23 K:BB over 65.1 frames during the regular season for Arizona last season, picking up four saves along the way. Ginkel also spun 11.2 shutout innings with a 15:5 K:BB during the postseason. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:54 pm

    • Kyle Schwarber returns from illness
Kyle Schwarber returned to action on Monday and finished 1-for-2 against the Rays.

Advice: Schwarber, the Phillies’ DH and leadoff man, hadn’t played in five days because of an illness. Rotoworld Monday, 1:45 pm

    • Merrill Kelly surrenders six runs against Brewers
Merrill Kelly struggled against the Brewers, giving up six runs over 3 2/3 innings in a Cactus League loss on Sunday.

Advice: Kelly tossed a clean first inning, then gave up a run on a walk and a base hit in the second. He was replaced on the mound with two outs in the frame before coming back out in the third. The Brewers brought three more runs in to score in the inning, including a two-run homer by Willy Adames. Kelly served up two more solo homers in the fifth inning that would end his day at six runs allowed with four strikeouts. The 35-year-old right-hander lines up as Arizona’s second starter behind Zac Gallen entering the season. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:24 pm

    • Aaron Nola combines on shutout of Blue Jays
Aaron Nola pitched two-hit ball for 5 2/3 innings in the Phillies’ 2-0 shutout of the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Advice: Nola isn’t one to worry about spring results, but he posted his best numbers since 2020 this year, finishing with a 3.79 ERA and a 17/3 K/BB in 19 innings. He’ll get the ball Saturday in the second game of the opening series versus the Braves. Rotoworld Sunday, 12:46 pm

    • Chris Bassitt surrenders two runs in defeat
Chris Bassitt yielded two runs in five innings Sunday in a loss to the Phillies.

Advice: After being down all spring, Bassitt saw his velocity return in his second regular-season start last year. This year, it didn’t wait that long, as he was back at last year’s norms today after being down two ticks earlier this month. He’ll likely be a fine mixed-league starter once again. • Hunter Brown fans five in win over Cardinals
Hunter Brown blanked the Cardinals for 4 1/3 innings and struck out five in the Astros’ 9-4 win Sunday.

Advice: Brown ends the spring 3-0 with a 2.12 ERA and a 17/4 K/BB in 17 innings. A likely top-50 fantasy SP, he’ll be the Astros’ third starter, putting him in line to face the Yankees on Saturday. Rotoworld Sunday, 12:26 pm

    • Strong spring finish
Bello allowed one run on five hits and three walks while striking out seven over 5.1 innings in Saturday's spring start against the Pirates.

Advice: Bello hit the 91-pitch mark and finished his spring with a pair of strong outings following a shaky start. His spring ERA was at 6.75 after three starts, but Bello allowed two runs while striking out 12 over his final 10.1 innings. Next up for the 24-year-old righty is an Opening Day start, which will take place Thursday on the road in Seattle. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:04 am
