    • Exits with hand injury
Contreras was removed from Tuesday's game against the Mets with an apparent left hand injury, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Contreras was hit in the hand by a J.D. Martinez swing during the second inning of Tuesday's contest, and he appeared to be in a significant amount of pain before walking off the field. The 31-year-old backstop will almost certainly go in for X-rays, and the Cardinals should offer an update on his status in the near future. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:18 pm
    • Mark Canha out Tuesday due to illness
Mark Canha is absent from Tuesday’s lineup due to illness.

Advice: Canha is apparently under the weather and will sit out Tuesday’s showdown against the Guardians. It’ll be Riley Greene taking over in left field and Ryan Vilade drawing a start in right field for his season debut. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:33 pm

    • Battling illness
Canha is out of the lineup Tuesday against Cleveland with an upper respiratory illness, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: Canha will get the day off to rest and recover from the illness, leaving DH work to Jake Rogers while Carson Kelly fills in behind the plate. Canha's five homers trail only Riley Greene on the Tigers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:20 pm

    • Absent from Tuesday's lineup
Bohm is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: It's Bohm's first day off since April 15. Kody Clemens will handle third base Tuesday while Bohm grabs a seat. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:04 pm

    • Excels in four-inning rehab start
Marsh (elbow) struck out six and gave up one hit and one walk over four shutout innings Sunday in his rehab start with Triple-A Omaha.

Advice: According to Anne Rogers of MLB.com, Royals manager Matt Quatraro said prior to Sunday's rehab outing that Marsh was being targeted for 60-to-65 pitches, but the right-hander fell slightly short of that benchmark with 53 pitches (38 strikes). In any case, Marsh mowed down the Triple-A Iowa lineup in efficient fashion and looks as though he could be ready to return from the 15-day injured list when first eligible Friday against the Angels. If the Royals instead decide to give Marsh one more rehab start to increase his pitch count, Daniel Lynch would likely be in store for a second turn through the rotation this weekend. • Andrew Heaney turns in quality start versus A’s
Andrew Heaney allowed two runs — one earned — over six innings Monday against the A’s.

Advice: Still no wins for Heaney, though the Rangers finally did prevail in one of his starts for the first time this season. Heaney remained 0-4 with a 4.50 ERA in spite of a second straight inspiring effort. He’s still in line to be supplanted if the Rangers get healthier. Expectations were that Max Scherzer would soon take his rotation spot, but the Rangers will likely still have room for him with Nathan Eovaldi and Cody Bradford on the shelf. • Goes deep Monday
Freeman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Marlins in Monday's 6-3 win.

Advice: Though his long ball didn't travel nearly as far, Freeman followed Shohei Ohtani in the first inning Monday as the pair slugged back-to-back homers. Freeman has yet to fully flex his power this season -- he has just three homers through 167 plate appearances -- but he's been otherwise productive, as usual, with a .292/.407/.445 slash line, 21 RBI, 18 runs and a stolen base. The veteran first baseman is also tied for seventh in the league with 10 doubles and tied for fifth with 24 walks. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:58 pm

    • Settles for no-decision
Heaney allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits and no walks while striking out five batters over six innings in a no-decision against Oakland on Monday.

Advice: Heaney notched his second straight quality start, but a strong outing by opposing starter Alex Wood kept him from picking up his first win of the season. Nonetheless, Heaney was impressive in the start, inducing 15 swinging strikes and finishing without issuing a free pass for his third consecutive appearance. The left-hander failed to get through five frames in each of his first three starts of the season but has now done so in each of his subsequent four outings, and he's gone at least six frames in three straight trips to the mound. Heaney's ERA still sits at a mediocre 4.50, but he has a solid 1.11 WHIP along with a 31:9 K:BB through 36 innings. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:50 pm

    • Freddie Freeman homers as Dodgers top Marlins
Freddie Freeman hit a solo homer in a victory Monday over the Marlins.

Advice: Freeman went back-to-back with Shohei Ohtani, and his solo blast gave the Dodgers a 3-2 lead. The 34-year-old hasn’t shown a ton of pop in the early portion of the year, as it’s just the third homer for the veteran first baseman in 2024. He’s hitting .292 with a .407 on-base percentage, however, and all of those numbers are sure to climb as we get deeper into the year. Rotoworld Monday, 9:30 pm
