    • Records eighth save
Yates allowed a hit and a walk while striking out two over one scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: This was Yates' first save since May 8, as opportunities have been few and far between for saves recently. He pitched four times between saves, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over three innings. The right-hander has eight saves, two holds, 0.90 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 25:10 K:BB over 20 innings this season. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:01 pm

    • Kirby Yates earns eighth save vs. D-Backs
Kirby Yates earned his eighth save of the season in Tuesday’s win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Yates had to tightrope out of danger to earn the save in this one. The righty allowed a two-out walk to Eugenio Suárez only to see a single by Gabriel Moreno move Suárez into scoring position. Fortunately for Yates, a strikeout of Kevin Newman would end the game and secure the win for the Rangers, who have now won back-to-back games after dropping their previous six. • Mason Miller shuts door on Rays for 11th save
Mason Miller earned a save by preserving a 3-0 win over the Rays on Tuesday.

Advice: Miller, who hadn’t pitched in two days, didn’t make it easy on himself. After getting the first two batters out, he allowed a single to Yandy Diaz and walked Brandon Lowe to bring the tying run to the plate before striking out Isaac Paredes to end the game. It was his 11th save of the year to go along with a 1.88 ERA. He has emerged as one of the most dominant relievers in baseball and with the A’s proving to be more competitive than many expected, Miller should easily eclipse the 20-save mark this year if he can stay healthy. • Tracking toward return on Friday
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Phillips (hamstring) is on track for activation from the 15-day injured list Friday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Advice: Phillips struck out two batters in a perfect inning in his first rehab appearance with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday. He's slated for one rehab outing before rejoining the Dodgers for their weekend series at home against the Rockies, assuming all goes well. Upon activation, Phillips should immediately step back in as the Dodgers' closer. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:36 am
    • Evan Phillips (hamstring) could return Friday
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Evan Phillips (hamstring) has a good chance to return to the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Phillips has looked the part in his rehab appearances as he works his way back from the hamstring injury that has sidelined the stopper since May 5. Once back on the roster, there’s every reason to believe that Phillips will receive the bulk of the save chances for Los Angeles, with Daniel Hudson and the rest of the Los Angeles bullpen serving as a bridge to Phillips. • Tosses clean rehab inning
Phillips (hamstring) retired all three batters he faced -- including two by strikeout -- in a rehab outing with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday.

Advice: Phillips needed just 11 pitches to get through the frame. The appearance was the first for the closer since he went on the 15-day injured list with a right hamstring strain May 5. Phillips will likely get in one or two more rehab outings before he's deemed ready to return to closing duties with the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:45 pm
    • Evan Phillips fires perfect inning in rehab outing
Evan Phillips (hamstring) fired a perfect inning in his first minor league rehab appearance at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday.

Advice: The 29-year-old right-hander needed just 11 pitches to retire the side in order — getting a pair of strikeouts and a ground out. He may only need one additional rehab appearance before he’s deemed ready to rejoin the Dodgers’ bullpen. Expect him back at some point next week. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:17 pm
    • Beginning rehab assignment
Phillips (hamstring) is scheduled to pitch in a rehab game Sunday with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Advice: Phillips will require multiple rehab outings before coming off the 15-day injured list, and Sunday's scheduled appearance will mark the first of these. Daniel Hudson recorded the last Dodgers save May 20, and Phillips will presumably return to the closing role once he's active. Rotowire.com Sunday, 2:23 pm
    • Picks up win
Romero (2-0) allowed three hits and struck out one over 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the win Saturday over the Cubs.

Advice: Romero became the pitcher of record after the Cardinals rallied for the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. While this was a bit of a shaky performance, Romero was able to post his ninth scoreless appearance over 11 outings in May. The southpaw is at a 1.35 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 26:4 K:BB while adding 17 holds and one blown save through 26.2 innings. He's the Cardinals' top lefty reliever and continues to feature in a setup role.
