• Two-run homer in loss
Alonso went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 10-5 loss to the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Advice: Alonso doubled in the first then hit a two-run home run in the ninth off Brandon Hughes. While the game was out of reach, the homer was Alonso's 13th of the year and resulted in his third multi-hit effort in his past nine games. On the season, Alonso is now slashing .239/.315/.477 with 13 home runs and 29 RBI. Rotowire.com 48 minutes ago

  • Two steals in win
McCarthy went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs scored in a 10-5 win over the Mets on Saturday.

Advice: McCarthy singled, stole two bases then scored on a Christian Walker grand slam in the third inning and later singled and scored in the eighth. McCarthy was a late addition to the lineup when Lourdes Gurriel (undisclosed) was scratched and made the most of a rare opportunity to face a left-handed starter despite now hitting 11-for-25 against lefties on the season. Since May 21, McCarthy has started only six of a possible 10 games but tallied four steals during that stretch. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago
  • Launches 14th homer
Harper went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and three total runs scored in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Harper provided the Phillies with extra breathing room, taking St. Louis reliever John King deep in the seventh inning. Over the previous 10 games, Harper took a small step back, batting .257 (9-for-35) with three home runs and seven RBI to close out May. Following his second consecutive multi-hit game, he's batting .276/.381/.538 with 14 homers, 44 RBI, 35 runs scored and three stolen bases over 54 contests this season. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago

  • Strikes out 10 in loss
Gray (7-3) took the loss Saturday versus the Phillies, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out 10 over five innings.

Advice: Gray reached double-digit strikeouts for the second time in 10 starts this year, but he received little run support after a shaky first inning. The right-hander has allowed at least four runs in three of his last five outings. For the season, he's at a 3.00 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 77:15 K:BB over 57 innings. Gray is projected to make his next start at home versus the Rockies. Rotowire.com 53 minutes ago

  • X-rays come back negative for Ranger Suárez
X-rays on the injured thumb of Phillies’ left-hander Ranger Suárez came back negative for any fractures on Saturday.

Advice: Phillies’ skipper Rob Thomson told reporters that Suárez is still dealing with some swelling in his thumb but that the team feels fortunate to have dodged any serious injuries. He’s slated to take the mound against the Mets next weekend in London, but it’s still unclear whether or not he’ll be able to take the hill. Fantasy managers should be sure to have a contingency plan in place for next week in the event that Suárez isn’t ready in time. Rotoworld Today, 7:56 pm

  • Sent down after poor start
Detmers (3-6) took the loss Saturday against the Mariners, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks with three K's in 3.2 innings. He was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake after the start.

Advice: Detmers started the season as one of the Angels' top starters and garnered wins in each of his first three starts, striking out 26 batters with two runs allowed across 17.1 innings. However, he hasn't gotten in the win column since and has yielded at least three runs in eight straight starts. Outside of a decent 8.9 K/9 across 40.1 innings, nothing has been working for Detmers lately, allowing 10 long balls and 20 walks over that stretch. The 24-year-old was a reliable arm for Los Angeles the past two seasons and it's possible that a Triple-A stint will help the southpaw regain some confidence and find his previous form. For now, Detmers will give up his spot in the rotation and on the 26-man roster. A corresponding move has yet to be announced. Rotowire.com Today, 7:51 pm

  • Angels option Reid Detmers to Triple-A Salt Lake
Angels optioned LHP Reid Detmers to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: The 24-year-old southpaw was hit hard again in Saturday’s loss to the Mariners — giving up five runs over 3 2/3 innings — and that was apparently the last straw. Detmers has posted a miserable 6.14 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and a 70/27 K/BB ratio over 63 innings through 12 starts on the season. He’ll work to refine his craft at the Triple-A level before hopefully rejoining the Angels’ rotation later in the season. No word yet on what the Angels plan to do to fill that void in their rotation. Rotoworld Today, 7:48 pm

  • Rodriguez has three-hit game Saturday
Julio Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI against the Angels on Saturday.

Advice: Rodriguez started the scoring with an RBI single in the third inning and added another RBI single in the sixth inning to put the Mariners ahead 7-0. He’s now up to .273 with 23 RBI on the season. Rodriguez hasn’t lived up to his first round draft status so far this season because his power has nosedived. His .071 ISO this year is over 100 points lower than his career .192 ISO. Rotoworld Today, 7:43 pm

  • Crawford hits grand slam in win Saturday
J.P. Crawford went 1-for-4 with a grand slam against the Angels on Saturday.

Advice: Crawford took Reid Detmers deep with the bases loaded in the fourth inning to put the Mariners up 5-0. The home run was his fourth of the season and second since coming off the injured list on May 20th. Seattle isn’t the best lineup, but Crawford regularly bats leadoff and has shown some pop recently.
