    • Strikes out 10 in loss
Gausman (6-8) allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out 10 over six innings to take the loss Friday versus the Mariners.

Advice: Gausman allowed a two-run double to Luke Raley in the third inning, and that was enough to stick him with his fourth loss in five outings. This was his third 10-strikeout game of the year, as well as his third quality start over his last seven games. He's at a 4.64 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 101:27 K:BB through 97 innings over 18 starts overall. Gausman's next start is projected to be on the road in San Francisco. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:19 pm

    • Locks down 22nd save
Kimbrel picked up the save in Friday's 3-2 victory over the Athletics. He pitched a clean inning with two strikeouts.

Advice: The veteran closer extended his scoreless appearances streak to six with this performance, promptly retiring the side on a tidy 10 pitches. Kimbrel stands fourth all-time in career saves with 439, needing 40 more to pass Lee Smith for third. The Baltimore right-hander has been nearly untouchable since May 10, firing a 0.45 ERA, 0.25 WHIP and 29:5 K:BB across 20 innings while securing 14 saves. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:55 pm
    • Craig Kimbrel saves 22nd game vs. Athletics
Craig Kimbrel struck out two while picking up a save Friday against the Athletics.

Advice: Kimbrel didn’t allow a hit and needed just 10 pitches — seven of them strikes — to get through the Oakland lineup. There have been a few blips for the right-hander, but this was a reminder that there’s been more good than bad in his time as the Baltimore stopper. It’s the 22nd save of the year, and his ERA is now a very solid 2.16 on the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:15 pm
    • Kevin Gausman fans 10 in loss to Blue Jays
Kevin Gausman struck out 10 over six innings of two-run baseball, but took a look Friday to the Mariners.

Advice: Gausman had the swing-and-miss stuff going and took advantage of a lineup that strikes out more than anyone in baseball. The right-hander allowed only a two-run double to Luke Raley in the contest, but unfortunately that was enough to pick up the loss with Luis Castillo holdin the Blue Jays to just one run. It’s still nice to see a strong outing from Gausman considering how mediocre he’s been for the majority of 2024, as his ERA is still a disappointing 4.64 on the campaign. • X-rays on hand negative
X-rays on Altuve's left hand came back negative following his removal from Friday's game versus Minnesota, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Advice: Altuve made an early exit from Friday's game in the eighth inning after taking a pitch off his hand, but he managed to escape the incident with only a bruise. It's possible he sits out a game or two in order to give his hand a chance to properly recover, but an extended absence isn't likely. The 34-year-old is slashing .387/.457/.516 with a homer and five RBI over his last seven games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:52 pm

    • Jose Altuve diagnosed with left hand contusion
The Astros got good news after Friday night’s victory over the Twins as the X-rays on the injured left hand of Jose Altuve came back negative for any fractures.

Advice: Altuve was diagnosed with a left hand contusion and is considered day-to-day. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him get a day off on Saturday to be on the safe side, but the 34-year-old infielder shouldn’t be looking at any sort of extended absence. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:50 pm

    • Tagged with loss
Bibee (7-3) yielded four runs on six hits and two walks over 4.2 innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Giants.

Advice: Bibee got off to a brutal start, coughing up three runs in the first inning. He snapped his streak of three consecutive quality starts with his shortest outing since May 8. Bibee went 3-1 with a terrific 40:4 K:BB in five June starts and was 5-1 over his previous 10 outings before Friday's loss. He now owns a 3.67 ERA with a 115:24 K:BB through 98 frames. Bibee's next outing is projected to be in Detroit. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:09 pm

    • Jose Altuve (hand) leaves game after hit by pitch
Jose Altuve was removed from Friday night’s battle against the Twins after being hit by a pitch on his left hand.

Advice: Altuve was clipped by a 94.3 mph sinker from Josh Winder. The 34-year-old superstar second baseman was grimacing and looked to be in obvious pain on the field. He’ll head for X-rays to see if he’s dealing with any fractures. The Astros should have an update on his status after that imaging is complete. In the meantime, all fantasy managers can do is wait and hope for the best. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:00 pm

    • Exits after HBP
Altuve was removed from Friday's game against the Twins after getting by a pitch, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Altuve took a 94 mph sinker off his left hand/wrist during the eighth inning of Friday's contest and was taken out of the game after conferring with a trainer. He'll presumably undergo imaging in the clubhouse, and the Astros should offer an update on his status after the game. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:40 pm
