• Escapes with save
Doval allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning Friday, striking out one and earning a save over Cleveland.

Advice: Doval put the first two batters of the inning on base but escaped the jam to close out the 4-2 win. It was his third straight save conversion, and he's now 17 for 20 in opportunities this season. Doval has not looked like his usual self, however, as his current ERA and WHIP of 4.04 and 1.54, respectively, are both career highs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:58 pm
  • Tosses three innings
Bivens allowed a run on four hits and a walk over three frames in a no-decision Friday. He struck out two during the win over Cleveland.

Advice: Bivens entered the game in the second inning and was tagged with a solo homer by Josh Naylor in the fourth. Over his last five outings, Bivens has given up two runs in 12 innings, dropping his season ERA to 2.65 through 17 frames. He should continue working as a bulk reliever or spot starter as necessary. • Jeff Hoffman secures eighth save
Jeff Hoffman pitched a clean ninth inning on Friday against the Braves to earn the save. He also struck out a batter.

Advice: Hoffman could be inching his way ahead of José Alvarado in the Phillies’ bullpen pecking order. Alvarado got the eighth inning in this one with a five-run lead. That came against the top of the Braves’ lineup and Marcell Ozuna wound up taking him deep to cut the lead to two. Hoffman closed it out in the ninth inning and now has three saves in his last three appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:49 pm
  • Jason Foley miraculously escapes with save Friday
Jason Foley surrendered a pair of runs in the ninth inning on Friday night, but managed to miraculously escape with a one-run lead intact against the Reds to earn his 14th save of the season.

Advice: Foley came on with a three-run lead to protect in the ninth inning, but immediately made things interesting by allowing an infield single to Elly De La Cruz — who then stole second and took third on a balk. Spencer Steer smacked a one-out RBI single to make it a bit closer and Nick Martini followed with an RBI triple that put the tying run at third base with only one out. Tyler Stephenson then hit a ground ball to third, where Blake Dunn was cut down at the plate attempting to score. Foley then allowed a single to Noelvi Marte before finally getting Santiago Espinal to ground out to first to end it. Foley now sports a 3.26 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 24/9 K/BB ratio over 30 1/3 innings on the season to go with 14 saves and a pair of victories. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:46 pm
  • Secures eighth save
Hoffman struck out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning Friday and earned a save over Atlanta.

Advice: Hoffman threw nine of 14 pitches for strikes to close out the 8-6 win. He's picked up a save in three straight appearances and has converted six straight chances dating back to May 17. Hoffman now owns a stellar 1.21 ERA with a 47:8 K:BB through 37.1 frames. Jose Alvarado took the mound in the eighth inning of what appeared to be a blowout win but gave up a three-run homer to Marcell Ozuna. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:40 pm
  • Ryan Helsley blows save in 10th, grabs win in 11th
Ryan Helsey blew the save Friday against the Nationals despite not allowing an earned run. He also gave up two hits, an intentional walk, and didn’t strike a batter out across two innings.

Advice: A shortcoming of the Ghost Runner rule: Helsley entered a one-run game in the 10th inning, allowed the automatic runner to score from second base, and got tagged with a blown save. He did well to get out of a jam with runners on second and third with one out when Juan Yepez lined into an inning ending double play. He hung on for a 1-2-3 inning in the 11th inning and still managed to snag the win. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:26 pm
  • Kyle Finnegan blows save against Cardinals
Kyle Finnegan allowed one earned run on two hits in the ninth inning on Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Willson Contreras took Finnegan deep to tie this game in the ninth inning. He’s been remarkably consistent throughout the season, but the Nationals haven’t provided him with many save opportunities lately and he’s now blown two of his last four dating back to June 22nd. • Likely to work in bulk relief
Bivens is expected to serve as a bulk reliever behind opening pitcher Erik Miller in Friday's game against the Guardians, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Bivens tossed five innings of one-run ball in his first MLB start in his most recent appearance this past Sunday against the Dodgers, but he'll be available out of the bullpen for what's essentially his second turn through the rotation. The right-hander will most likely shift into a more traditional bullpen role after Friday, as the Giants should get one or both of Kyle Harrison (ankle) or Blake Snell (groin) back from the injured list by next week. • Records seventh save
Beeks picked up the save in a win over the Brewers on Thursday, hurling 1.1 scoreless innings while striking out one.

Advice: Beeks relieved Tyler Kinley with two outs and two on in the eighth and got Garrett Mitchell to go down on strikes to escape the jam. The lefty returned for the ninth and went 1-2-3 through the top of Milwaukee's lineup to secure his seventh save of the season and his first since May 31 against the Dodgers. Beeks has not allowed an earned run in any of his last three appearances while posting at least one strikeout in each of those outings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:41 am
