• Michael Kopech allows unearned run in loss to MIL
Michael Kopech allowed an unearned run while striking out two and picking up a loss Saturday to the Brewers.

Advice: The run doesn’t get charged to Kopech because it was the “zombie runner” that was placed on second base to begin the bottom of the 10th. He still gets the loss with Willy Adames singling in William Contreras to give the Brewers a win and the White Sox their 10th straight loss. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:19 pm
  • Framber Valdez spins seven strong in win over MIN
Framber Valdez gave up just one hit on two runs while working seven innings to get a win Saturday against the Twins.

Advice: Valdez did issue two walks, but he was able to keep the self-inflicted damage to a low roar while striking out four. The southpaw has gone seven innings in three of his last five starts, and he hasn’t allowed more than two runs in any of those outings. There have been some clunkers for Valdez in 2024, but the good has mostly outweighed the poor. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:02 pm
  • Joe Ryan gives up four homers in loss to Astros
Joe Ryan gave up five runs over five innings while picking up a loss to the Astros on Saturday.

Advice: Ryan gave up eight hits, which is not great, and five of those hits left the park, which is worse. The 27-year-old was coming off an outstanding start against the Royals on Monday. This was anything but. He also walked two and struck out four in one of the worst outings of the season for Ryan. Expect better things for the right-hander against Pittsburgh next week. • Slade Cecconi solid against Mets on Saturday
Slade Cecconi allowed one run with four strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Saturday.

Advice: Cecconi was excellent against the Mets on Saturday, scattering three hits over four scoreless frames before Mark Vientos took him deep for a solo homer to lead off the fifth. Cecconi put one more runner on with a single and recorded two outs before he was pulled at 71 pitches, leaving him with a no-decision. The 24-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 5.59 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and a 26/8 K/BB ratio across 37 innings. He’s set to take on the Padres in San Diego on Thursday should he remain in the rotation. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:28 pm
  • Sean Manaea surrenders six runs in loss
Sean Manaea surrendered six runs -- five earned -- with ten strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Advice: After two scoreless frames, Manaea loaded the bases with a base hit and two walks in the third. Christian Walker would clear them all with a grand slam to put the Diamondbacks ahead. A double and a base hit in the sixth would drive in a run and knock Manaea from the game with two outs at 105 pitches. He struck out a season-high ten batters. The 32-year-old left-hander will take a 3.63 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and a 57/24 K/BB ratio across 57 innings into a start against the Phillies in New York next Saturday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:26 pm

  • Jeffrey Springs (elbow) throws bullpen on Saturday
Jeffrey Springs (elbow) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session on Saturday.

Advice: It’s an extremely encouraging development that Springs is already back throwing off a mound following a precautionary exit from his second rehab appearance last week in a Rookie-level Florida Complex League game due to shoulder tightness. The 31-year-old lefty continues to work his way back from last year’s Tommy John surgery and is expected to restart a rehab assignment at some point in early June. There’s a chance he’s back in the Rays’ starting rotation by July or August. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:55 pm
  • Recalled from Triple-A
The Diamondbacks recalled Cecconi from Triple-A Reno on Friday.

Advice: With Zac Gallen (hamstring) headed for the 15-day injured list, Cecconi will come up from the minors in order to fill the open spot in Arizona's rotation. The 24-year-old righty has been inconsistent in the majors this season, giving up two runs or less three times but also allowing six earned runs during his other three outings. He threw seven shutout innings while striking out nine batters during his most recent start in the minors, but he remains an extremely risky fantasy option. Rotowire.com Friday, 3:10 pm
  • Diamondbacks recall Slade Cecconi on Friday
Diamondbacks recalled RHP Slade Cecconi from Triple-A Reno.

Advice: He’ll replace the injured Zac Gallen (hamstring) on the team’s active roster. It’s unclear if the Diamondbacks plan to have Cecconi take Gallen’s spot in the rotation, or if he’s just there to provide depth and length in the bullpen for a few days while they sort out their rotation plans. Either way, he can be avoided for fantasy purposes. Rotoworld Friday, 3:05 pm
  • Goes deep Wednesday
Ohtani went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 10-3 win over the Mets.

Advice: Ohtani knocked a run-scoring single in the fifth inning and capped his performance with a two-run blast in the eighth. The long ball was his first since May 17 and pushed him to 14 on the campaign, eighth-most in the majors. Ohtani has added 38 RBI, 41 runs, 13 stolen bases and a .330/.395/.615 slash line through 248 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:17 am
