    • Nick Pivetta throws 62 pitches in rehab start
Nick Pivetta (elbow) struck out five and gave up four runs over three innings on Thursday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Worcester.

Advice: As expected, Pivetta threw 62 pitches (36 strikes) in his rehab outing and figures to be ready to take the ball next week against the Braves, most likely on Tuesday, down at Truist Park. The 31-year-old righty has been out since early April recovering from a flexor strain in his right elbow. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:01 pm

    • Camilo Doval picks up sixth save against Red Sox
Camilo Doval struck out a batter in a scoreless inning of work while picking up a save Thursday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Doval is now up to six saves on the season. The right-hander didn’t allow a hit while picking up a strikeout, and he pounded the zone with 11-of-14 pitches going for strikes. Doval has had some shaky moments in 2024, but the right-hander remains locked into a closing role for a team that should provide plenty of opportunities. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:16 pm
    • Christopher Morel swats three-run homer in loss
Christopher Morel connected on a three-run homer Thursday in an extra-inning loss to the Mets.

Advice: Morel extended the Cubs’ lead to 4-0 in the fifth with a three-run blast off Adrian Houser. The second-year infielder has gone deep five times, and he’s now up to 17 RBI over Chicago’s 32 games. It’s nice to see some offensive success again, as Morel has scuffled as of late to drop his line to .209/.287/.383. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:11 pm

    • Could return next week
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Pivetta (elbow) could rejoin the rotation next week during the team's May 7-8 series in Atlanta, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Pivetta is slated to make a rehab start with Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, and it appearance that will be the lone appearance before he rejoins the Red Sox' rotation. The right-hander has been on the shelf since early April with a right elbow flexor strain. Pivetta was excellent before getting hurt, allowing just one run with a 13:1 K:BB over 11 frames in his first two starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:43 am

    • Another six shutout innings
Yamamoto (3-1) earned the win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, allowing five hits and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Yamamoto allowed the leadoff man to reach in back-to-back innings to open the contest but still managed to keep Arizona's lineup at bay over six frames. The right-hander has now hurled 12 scoreless innings over his last two starts and has won each of his last three decisions after imploding in his MLB debut. He's also logged three straight quality starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:01 am
    • Getting routine day off
Nimmo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, manager Carlos Mendoza said pregame that Nimmo is getting a routine day off after having started in all but one of the Mets' first 29 games of the season. Tyrone Taylor will replace Nimmo in left field and atop the batting order. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 2:20 pm
    • Sits against right-hander again
Fraley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Advice: For the second straight day, Fraley finds himself on the bench with a right-handed pitcher (Joe Musgrove) on the hill. The Reds haven't indicated that Fraley is nursing an injury, but the outfielder has thus far struggled to bounce back since returning to the lineup after a week-long absence due to an illness. In his first three games back in action, Fraley went 0-for-11 with five strikeouts. If Fraley is unable to show improvement in his subsequent starting opportunities, he could fade into more of a part-time role for Cincinnati. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:47 am

    • Nursing minor injury
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Paredes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers due to his body and arm "barking a little bit," Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Cash seemed to suggest that Paredes isn't dealing with anything more than general soreness, with the skipper adding that Wednesday was an optimal time to give the third baseman a breather since he'll benefit from a two-day break with the Rays being off Thursday. Paredes, who had started each of the previous 11 games, should be back in the lineup when the Rays open their series with the Mets on Friday. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:08 am

    • Out again Wednesday
Encarnacion-Strand (hand) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Padres.

Advice: He'll miss a fourth straight start due to lingering left hand soreness following a hit-by-pitch. Encarnacion-Strand has been available off the bench the last two days and presumably will be again Wednesday. He could be back in the lineup Friday against the Orioles after the Reds' off day Thursday. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:56 am
