      Scott (5-5) took the loss and blew a save against the Mets on Thursday, allowing two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter over one-third of an inning.

      Advice: Scott was 8-for-9 in save chances coming into Thursday and hadn't blown a save since mid-April. In fact, he had rattled off 19 straight outings without allowing an earned run, racking up five wins and seven saves during that stretch. However, the southpaw couldn't protect a one-run, ninth-inning lead versus New York, issuing a leadoff walk to Francisco Lindor before serving up a walk-off two-run blast to J.D.     • Crushes three-run homer in win
      O'Neill went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in a 9-3 win over the Phillies on Thursday.

      Advice: O'Neill singled in the first inning then broke the game open in the fourth, crushing a three-run homer off Aaron Nola that traveled 430 feet over the Green Monster. After returning at DH from a knee injury Wednesday, O'Neill got the start in right field and hit his first home run since May 19. O'Neill endured a terrible May, hitting .151 with two home runs and five RBI over 73 at-bats but has opened June going 7-for-16 with a homer and five RBI in just five contests. Health has always been a concern for O'Neill, as he has eclipsed 100 games played in a season just once, but he is now slashing .256/.356/.512 with 12 home runs in 2024.       Tyler O’Neill went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run against the Phillies on Thursday.

      Advice: O’Neill’s home run was his 12th and his first since May 19th against St. Louis. He was back in right field after missing Tuesday’s game with knee discomfort and occupying the designated hitter spot on Wednesday. Fantasy managers have to be pleased with these developments.       Tanner Scott allowed two runs and blew the save against the Mets on Thursday.

      Advice: Scott came into the ninth inning with a one-run lead on the road. He walked Francisco Lindor before striking out Brandon Nimmo. Then J.D. Martinez got him for a walk-off two-run home run. It was just his second blown save of the season. His last blown save was on April 14th against Atlanta. Scott’s ERA is now 1.93.       Advice: Turner is trending towards making his long-awaited return to Philadelphia’s lineup at some point early next week. It sounds like the 30-year-old shortstop will skip a minor-league rehab assignment, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see him get in a couple at-bats over the weekend prior to returning.     • Randy Arozarena (hamstring) rejoins Rays lineup
      Randy Arozarena (hamstring) is back in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Cubs.

      Advice: Arozarena is playing left field and batting second against the Cubs after being held out of the lineup for the last two games of the series due to right hamstring tightness.     • Nearly ready to take swings
      Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Thursday that Nootbaar (oblique) continues to take part in "rotational work" and could resume swinging a bat this weekend, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: The Cardinals will presumably ease Nootbaar into swinging by having him hit off a tee or hit soft-toss throws before he eventually gains clearance to hit against higher-velocity pitching. In addition to being able to hit without discomfort, Nootbaar, who has been on the injured list since May 31 with a left oblique strain, will also need to prove that the injury doesn't compromise him when he runs the bases or plays the outfield. He still appears to be at least a couple weeks away from being a realistic option to rejoin the Cardinals, and Nootbaar will presumably need to go out on a minor-league rehab assignment prior to being activated.
