    • Doyle hits go-ahead two-run double against Royals
Brenton Doyle hit a go-ahead two-run double to give the Rockies a 4-2 win over the Royals on Friday.

Advice: Doyle turned a 2-2 game into a 4-2 lead with the Rockies with a ground-rule double that scored Aaron Schunk and Ryan McMahon and ultimately gave Colorado the victory. After being one of the worst offensive players in baseball in 2024, Doyle has shocked with a very useable slash of .274/.335/.436, and his .731 OPS is quite the improvement on his .593 mark in 2023. • Michael Lorenzen combines on shutout of Rays
Michael Lorenzen pitched around five walks to shut out the Rays for five innings in the Rangers’ 3-0 victory Friday.

Advice: Lorenzen surrendered just one hit, a double off the bat of Brandon Lowe. It wound up being a three-hit shutout for the Rangers’ pitching staff, with José Leclerc, Jacob Latz, David Robertson and Kirby Yates combining to finish the effort. Lorenzen is now 5-4 with a 3.21 ERA. It will be interesting to see if the Rangers choose to move him with Tyler Mahle, Cody Bradford and Jacob deGrom all seemingly on the way back. • Kirby Yates perfect in earning 12th save
Kirby Yates earned his 12th save with a perfect ninth Friday versus the Rays.

Advice: Yates struck out two of the three batters he faced in the 3-0 game. With 43 strikeouts and 13 hits allowed in 30 1/3 innings, his ERA stands at 0.89 after 30 appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:22 pm

    • Cracks three hits against Royals
Doyle went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Friday's 4-2 victory over Kansas City.

Advice: Doyle gave the Rockies the lead in the eighth with a ground-rule double off John Schreiber to plate two runs. The Colorado center fielder has been scorching hot over his last seven games, hitting .428 (12-for-28) with four homers, four doubles, nine RBI and five runs scored. Doyle entered the season as a speed threat but is rounding into a stalwart in the batter's box too, as he's slashing .274/.335/.436 with 10 homers, 49 runs scored and 34 RBI across 341 plate appearances. • Notches 12th save
Yates struck out two batters in a perfect ninth inning and earned a save over Tampa Bay on Friday.

Advice: Yates tossed 11 of 16 pitches for strikes as he cruised through the Rays' 9-1-2 hitters for the save. He's converted each of his 12 save chances this season, though Friday's was his first since June 19. The veteran righty owns a stifling 0.89 ERA with a 43:14 K:BB through 30.1 innings. • Wins despite command issues
Lorenzen (5-4) allowed a hit and five walks over five shutout innings Friday, striking out four and earning a win over the Rays.

Advice: Lorenzen's control was shaky and nearly cost him a scoreless outing when he walked the bases loaded in the fifth inning, but he managed to escape the jam. He's thrown exactly five innings in three straight starts and has walked nine batters over his last two outings. Lorenzen dropped his season ERA to 3.21 with a lackluster 62:40 K:BB through 87 innings. His next start is lined up to be on the road against the Angels. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:22 pm
    • Ozzie Albies with three hits, homer in loss
Ozzie Albies went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and three runs scored on Friday against the Phillies.

Advice: Albies was part of every Braves’ scoring play in this one as he came around to score on both Austin Riley and Marcell Ozuna’s home runs while contributing a solo shot of his own. He’s begun heating up of late and is riding an eight-game hitting streak. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:49 pm

    • Homers, scores three runs
Albies went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and three runs scored in Friday's loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Albies singled and scored in the fourth and eighth innings, sandwiched around his solo shot in the sixth. He snapped a 12-game homerless drought and delivered his first three-hit effort since June 13. Since the start of June, Albies has gone 31-for-128 (.242) with 18 runs scored in 31 games. His season slash line is sitting at .263/.318/.413 with 32 extra-base hits this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:46 pm

    • Jason Foley miraculously escapes with save Friday
Jason Foley surrendered a pair of runs in the ninth inning on Friday night, but managed to miraculously escape with a one-run lead intact against the Reds to earn his 14th save of the season.

Advice: Foley came on with a three-run lead to protect in the ninth inning, but immediately made things interesting by allowing an infield single to Elly De La Cruz — who then stole second and took third on a balk. Spencer Steer smacked a one-out RBI single to make it a bit closer and Nick Martini followed with an RBI triple that put the tying run at third base with only one out. Tyler Stephenson then hit a ground ball to third, where Blake Dunn was cut down at the plate attempting to score. Foley then allowed a single to Noelvi Marte before finally getting Santiago Espinal to ground out to first to end it. Foley now sports a 3.26 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 24/9 K/BB ratio over 30 1/3 innings on the season to go with 14 saves and a pair of victories. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:46 pm
