      Advice: Helsley was summoned to protect a 6-5 lead in the 10th inning but allowed the automatic runner to score. He was brought back out with another one-run lead in the eleventh and was able to secure the win in his first multi-inning effort of the season.       Ryan Helsey blew the save Friday against the Nationals despite not allowing an earned run. He also gave up two hits, an intentional walk, and didn’t strike a batter out across two innings.

      Advice: A shortcoming of the Ghost Runner rule: Helsley entered a one-run game in the 10th inning, allowed the automatic runner to score from second base, and got tagged with a blown save. He did well to get out of a jam with runners on second and third with one out when Juan Yepez lined into an inning ending double play. The 25-year-old backstop said he will resume catching for the Padres on Sunday, per Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune, at which point he could take over for Kyle Higashioka as the Friars' primary backstop.
