    • Picks up third win
King (3-1) got the win in Thursday's 3-2 victory over the Pirates. He pitched two innings and gave up one unearned run on two hits.

Advice: After pitching a clean ninth, the 29-year-old gave up a pair of two-out singles in the 10th, but manager Oliver Marmol showed trust by letting King finish off the game. The lefty reliever got off to a strong start this season with a 1.33 ERA over his first 20.1 innings, but has struggled as of late with a 5.25 ERA in his last 12 innings. His sharp command remains his calling card, as he's only walked four batters all season and will carry a 2.78 ERA and 1.14 WHIP into his next outing. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:37 pm

    • Yimi GarcĂa starting rehab assignment on Saturday
Yimi GarcĂa (elbow) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Saturday with Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: García got through a bullpen session on Wednesday without any issues and will get in a handful of rehab outings before turning to Toronto’s closing mix. The 33-year-old, who has been out since mid-June with an elbow injury, figures to split the closing duties with fellow veteran Chad Green once he’s back, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see him completely take over the role. • Frankie Montas holds Yankees to two runs in victory
Frankie Montas gave up two runs over five innings to pick up a win over the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: Montas struck out four while walking three and allowing four hits. The right-hander held the Yankees scoreless for the first four frames before allowing a pair of homers in the fifth. The results have been much better as of late for Montas, and while he isn’t missing a ton of bats, he’s allowed no more than two runs in three-straight starts. He’s scheduled to face the Rockies on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:10 pm

    • Ben Lively gets win after allowing three over six
Ben Lively allowed three runs over six innings to pick up a win against the White Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Lively scattered six hits while striking out six and walking one. The right-hander threw 93 pitches in the outing while landing 65 of them for strikes. He held Chicago to just one run through the first five before allowing a two-run blast to Paul DeJong to turn a strong outing into a fine one, all things considered. Lively has registered a 3.14 ERA and will be back on the bump next week against the Tigers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:59 pm

    • Jared Shuster allows two over two against Guardians
Jared Shuster gave up two runs in two innings of work Thursday against the Guardians.

Advice: Shuster wasn’t expected to go more than a couple of innings in his start, and he didn’t “disappoint.” The southpaw went into the third, but was pulled after giving up a homer to Stephen Kwan without getting an out. Shuster has been effective in his relief role, but he doesn’t have the stuff to be a competent starter. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:59 pm

    • Josh Hader works around hit to pick up save
Josh Hader allowed a hit but no runs while picking up a save Thursday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Hader gave up the hit, but worked around it while picking up his 14th save for the surging Astros. The left-hander needed just nine pitches to get through the inning, and six of those went for strikes. There’s every reason to believe Hader will be one of the best closers in baseball during the second half of the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:52 pm
    • Beginning rehab assignment
Garcia (elbow) feels good following Wednesday's bullpen session and will begin a rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A Buffalo, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: The right-hander will need at least a couple appearances in the minors before being cleared to rejoin the Blue Jays. Chad Green is currently operating as Toronto's closer with Jordan Romano (elbow) out indefinitely after elbow surgery, but Garcia could be the favorite for saves once reinstated. • Locks down 21st save
Suarez struck out two over 1.1 perfect innings to earn the save in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Suarez went a week without an appearance, so he was fresh Wednesday. He needed just 14 pitches (10 strikes) to get the last four outs of this victory, which resulted in his 21st save in 22 chances this year. The Padres' closer has been dominant with a 1.05 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 32:6 K:BB over 34.1 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:55 pm
    • Robert Suarez works four-out save against Rangers
Robert Suarez shut the Rangers down with two strikeouts across 1 1/3 innings to earn the save on Wednesday.

Advice: Suarez’s magnificent season continued in this one as he eviscerated the Rangers with his blazing fastball and changeup. This was by far the most he’s used his changeup in a single outing at 43% and it seemed to surprise the Rangers. It was a nice wrinkle as Suarez has thrown his four-seam fastball almost 80% of the time so far this season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:56 pm
