    • Edwin Díaz finishes serving 10-game suspension
Mets activated RHP Edwin Díaz from the restricted list.

Advice: Díaz has finished serving an automatic 10-game suspension handed down by the league after he was ejected back on June 23 for using an illegal foreign substance. The 30-year-old will be back in New York’s bullpen for Saturday’s contest against the Pirates. According to Newsday’s Tim Healey, the Mets’ bullpen recorded a league-worst 8.37 ERA during his absence. Needless to say, his return is going to make a significant impact, even if he’s not back to best closer in the universe status. Rotoworld Saturday, 8:48 am
    • Javier Assad (forearm) completes bullpen session
Javier Assad (forearm) threw a bullpen session on Friday.

Advice: Assad landed on the injured list last week with a right forearm strain, so it’s an extremely encouraging sign that he came out of Friday’s side session without any issues. The 26-year-old righty might be able to jump right back into Chicago’s starting rotation mix without requiring a minor league rehab assignment. Rotoworld Saturday, 8:29 am

    • Stuck with loss in return from IL
Hoeing dropped to 0-1 in Friday's 3-2 loss to the White Sox, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over three innings while striking out four batters.

Advice: Making his first appearance since recovering from a hamstring strain that had sidelined him for over two months, Hoeing was surprisingly sharp over 46 pitches (32 strikes), but Miami's offense didn't get on the board until the seventh inning. Given the tattered state of the team's staff -- the Marlins have enough starting pitchers on the injured list to fill an entire rotation and then some -- Hoeing could continue to be deployed in a tandem with rookie Roddery Munoz, who worked four innings in relief Friday. Hoeing has been the more effective of the two arms this season, posting a 1.99 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 20:6 K:BB through 22.2 innings. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:39 am

    • Collects eighth save
Kopech gave up a run on two hits and a walk over 1.1 innings Friday to record his eighth save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Marlins. He struck out one.

Advice: With two on and two outs in the ninth inning, Kopech gave up an RBI single to Bryan De La Cruz, but he then got Josh Bell to ground out to escape the jam. Kopech isn't exactly locked in right now, stumbling to a 6.91 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB over his last 14.1 innings while blowing three of six save chances, but the White Sox seem content to deploy him at the team's closer for now, perhaps in an effort to increase his trade value. • Notches 17th save
Jansen gave up a hit in a scoreless 10th inning Friday to record his 17th save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Yankees.

Advice: The veteran closer is on an impressive roll. Jansen has been scored upon only once in his last 14 appearances, racking up two wins and 10 saves on 10 chances over that stretch with a 0.61 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 13:2 K:BB over 14.2 innings. The 36-year-old isn't as dominant as he was during his Dodgers heyday, but Jansen is still finding ways to be effective and has yet to serve up a home run in 2024. Rotowire.com Saturday, 6:48 am
    • Josh Hader gives up grand slam before earning save
Josh Hader recorded his 15th save despite giving up a grand slam to one of the two batters he faced in the ninth Friday against the Twins.

Advice: Carlos Correa hit the slam to make it a 13-12 game, but Hader then struck out Manuel Margot to end it. The homer was the seventh allowed by Hader in 39 innings, but since none of the runners on base belonged to him, his ERA only slightly increased to 3.92. Rotoworld Friday, 11:53 pm
    • Kenley Jansen throws scoreless 10th for save
Kenley Jansen worked a scoreless 10th inning for his 17th save Friday against the Yankees.

Advice: Working with a two-run lead, Jansen allowed a single but still prevented the automatic runner from scoring in a 5-3 game. It’s his ninth straight scoreless appearance, and his ERA currently stands at 2.08. Rotoworld Friday, 10:58 pm
    • Locks down 22nd save
Kimbrel picked up the save in Friday's 3-2 victory over the Athletics. He pitched a clean inning with two strikeouts.

Advice: The veteran closer extended his scoreless appearances streak to six with this performance, promptly retiring the side on a tidy 10 pitches. Kimbrel stands fourth all-time in career saves with 439, needing 40 more to pass Lee Smith for third. The Baltimore right-hander has been nearly untouchable since May 10, firing a 0.45 ERA, 0.25 WHIP and 29:5 K:BB across 20 innings while securing 14 saves. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:55 pm
    • Escapes with 15th save
Hader picked up a save in Friday's 13-12 win against the Twins. He faced two batters, allowing one run on one hit while striking out one.

Advice: Hader likely didn't expect to enter Friday's contest as the Astros held a 13-5 lead entering the ninth. However, Luis Contreras allowed three runs and then loaded the bases, forcing the call to the Houston closer. Hader allowed a grand slam to Carlos Correa to bring the Twins within one before fanning Manuel Margot for his 15th save of the campaign. The Houston southpaw now sports a 3.92 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 61:11 K:BB across 39 total innings while going 15-for-16 in save chances. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:26 pm
