    • Grabs sixth win Thursday
Stanek (6-2) got the win over the Orioles on Thursday, firing a clean seventh inning during which he recorded two strikeouts.

Advice: Stanek entered the game a bit earlier than customary and delivered a crisp 11-pitch effort that saw him locate nine of his offerings for strikes. The hard-throwing right-hander then became the pitcher of record when the Mariners broke open a 2-2 tie with a five-run inning in the home half of the frame. Stanek's six victories are a career high, and the ultra-efficient outing against a dangerous offense was a welcome sight after the Twins had touched him up for two runs over one inning in his most recent appearance Sunday. • Luis Gil has been struggling with release point
According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, Luis Gilā€™s recent struggles could be impacted by an inconsistent release point.

Advice: Boone said that the Yankees have noticed that Gilā€™s recent point has been inconsistent of late. That could be tied to fatigue since heā€™s pitching more innings than he ever has before or it could simply be a mechanical issue with an easy fix. The inconsistent release point could also be leading Gil to tip some of his pitches, which might provide more context to why the Orioles were able to pounce on his fastball so much in his recent start. It should also be noted that Gil is making many non-competitive pitches and leaving pitches over the heart of the plate, so the release point isnā€™t the only issue to be fixed, but it might be one that can be addressed soon. • Could return Sunday
Cabrera (shoulder) was spotted in the Marlins' clubhouse Thursday and could be activated from the 60-day injured list to start Sunday versus the White Sox, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Marlins said previously that Cabrera would make one more rehab start. However, the club has an opening in its rotation Sunday after optioning Valente Bellozo, and that's the first day Cabrera is eligible for activation. Cabrera -- who has been out since early May with a right shoulder impingement -- has posted a 4.50 ERA and 15:4 K:BB over 10 innings in three rehab starts. He would be relatively limited from a pitch-count perspective Sunday after throwing 67 pitches in his last rehab outing. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:59 am
    • Strikes out two for 21st save
Kimbrel picked up the save over the Mariners on Wednesday, pitching a perfect ninth inning while striking out two.

Advice: Kimbrel entered the contest with a three-run lead in the bottom of the ninth and fanned the first two batters he faced before getting Julio Rodriguez to pop out to first for the final out. The veteran reliever has converted each of his last five save attempts, posting a 9:3 K:BB over that stretch while not allowing any hits. Kimbrel has also recorded two or more strikeouts in four of his last five appearances. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:08 am
    • Craig Kimbrel picks up 21st save Wednesday
Craig Kimbrel struck out two batters in a scoreless inning to earn the save against the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Kimbrel was summoned to close out the game with a three-run lead in the ninth. He made quick work of the Mariners, striking out two batters in a perfect inning on 18 pitches. The 36-year-old right-hander picks up his 21st save and 437th of his career, moving him ahead of Francisco RodrĆguez for fourth all time. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:41 pm
    • Takes loss against Guardians
Kopech (2-7) allowed one hit and one earned run across 0.2 innings and took the loss Tuesday against the Guardians.

Advice: Kopech entered the game in the ninth inning with the score tied at 6-6. He allowed a leadoff single and threw a wild pitch to put the runner on third base before allowing a sacrifice fly to bring in the game-winning run for Cleveland. Kopech has each of the White Sox's last two saves and should remain the team's primary closer despite a 4.50 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 36 innings this season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:03 am

    • Collects first big-league win
Birdsong (1-0) picked up the win Tuesday in a 5-3 victory over Atlanta, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The runs came on back-to-back solo shots by Austin Riley and Sean Murphy in the second inning, but Birdsong otherwise shut the door over 87 pitches (57 strikes). The rookie right-hander hasn't exactly been dominant to begin his big-league tenure, serving up three homers and issuing five free passes in 9.2 innings, but he's giving an injury-depleted Giants rotation some length. Birdsong lines up to make his next start on the road this weekend in Cleveland. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 5:13 am
    • Handed tough-luck loss
Singer (4-5) was saddled with the loss Tuesday versus Tampa Bay, allowing one earned run on three hits and three walks while striking out four batters in five innings.

Advice: Singer was able to keep the Rays' bats relatively quiet Tuesday, as the only run scored against him came as a result of a wild pitch in the second inning. However, a lack of run support from his offense combined with a collapse of Kansas City's bullpen following a lengthy rain delay will cause the 27-year-old righty to take his third loss in five starts. Singer remains without a win since May 19, but he'll have a good opportunity to get back in the win column over the weekend when he faces Colorado. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:37 am
    • Converts on save
Green picked up the save Tuesday against Houston, allowing one hit and no walks with two strikeouts across a scoreless inning.

Advice: Green has stepped into a temporary ninth-inning role with Jordan Romano (elbow) and Yimi Garcia (elbow) shelved. Though the pair have been sidelined for multiple weeks, Tuesday's contest was the first save opportunity offered since and Green stepped up and converted. Green has been exceptional for the Blue Jays this season, posting a 1.37 ERA with a 17:4 K:BB across 19.2 innings. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:53 pm
