  • Morrison reaches base four times in a loss
Logan Morrison went 3-for-3 with a walk and a pair of doubles, but the Mariners lost in walk-off fashion to the Angels on Tuesday.

Advice: Morrison doubled and scored in the second inning, doubled and was stranded in the fourth, then singled and scored in the eighth. It was yet another productive night at the plate for the first baseman, who has started to heat up. He's on a seven-game hitting streak and has bolstered his triple-slash line to a more respectable .247/.300/.430 with four home runs and seven RBI.

  • Blanks hits third homer in three-hit evening
Kyle Blanks went 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in a win over the Astros Tuesday.

Advice: Blanks had a couple singles to go along with the solo blast, his third in just six games. The first baseman has been scorching hot since being recalled, owning a .391/.440/.826 line through 23 at-bats.

  • Johnson homers, picks up 1,000th career hit
Kelly Johnson hit a three-run home run, then singled for his 1,000th career hit as the Braves beat the Phillies 9-0 on Tuesday.

Advice: Johnson finished 2-for-3 with a walk. He drilled a three-run home run off of Chad Billingsley in the fourth inning to put the Braves up 6-0. In the sixth, he singled to right-center off of Elvis Araujo to earn his 1,000th career hit. Johnson's return to Atlanta has been a good one, as he's hitting .266/.319/.578 with six home runs and 17 RBI.

Dodgers optioned 1B Andy Wilkins to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: The Dodgers acquired Wilkins from the Blue Jays for cash considerations on May 3. With Triple-A Buffalo, he was hitting just .264/.353/.319. He's not fantasy relevant.

  • Danny Valencia sprained his ankle on Monday
Danny Valencia sprained his ankle Monday on some clubhouse steps and is considered day-to-day.

Advice: It's not a severe sprain, but Valencia will be unavailable on Tuesday night and the Blue Jays aren't sure about his status for Wednesday. The 30-year-old is batting .333/.353/.455 in 34 plate appearances this season. He's made four starts in the outfield.

  • Swisher (knees) activated, at DH in '15 debut
Indians activated 1B Nick Swisher from the 15-day disabled list.

Advice: Swisher is starting at DH and batting sixth for the Tribe in his 2015 regular-season debut Tuesday night against the Royals. He missed the first month of the season while rehabbing dual knee surgeries. The 34-year-old only has fringe value in standard mixed fantasy leagues after batting .208/.278/.331 with eight home runs and 42 RBI in 97 games last summer.

  • Steve Pearce out Tuesday with stomach virus
Steve Pearce is out Tuesday with a stomach virus.

Advice: The illness drove him from Sunday's series finale against the Rays and he's still apparently dealing with some symptoms. Pearce will aim to return on Wednesday.
  • Craig starting in left field for Red Sox
Allen Craig is in the starting lineup and playing left field in Tuesday's game against the Rays.

Advice: Craig homered on Friday, but he's been largely ineffective in his bench role for the Red Sox. This season, he's hitting just .146/.222/.220 in 41 at-bats. His years of hitting in the .300's for the Cardinals feel like they occurred in another lifetime.

  • Mets option Eric Campbell to Triple-A
Mets optioned INF/OF Eric Campbell to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: With David Wright (hamstring) out injured, Campbell chipped in some decent playing time. In 50 at-bats, he hit .200/.323/.320 with a home run and a pair of steals. Campbell doesn't offer much of a bat, but he does have some positional flexibility. The 28-year-old will bide his time in Vegas.

  • Ryan Rua transferred to 60-day DL
Rangers transferred OF Ryan Rua to the 60-day disabled list with a foot injury.

Advice: Rua's right foot is a bit of a mess, as he's recovering from a broken bone and a severe ankle sprain. The Rangers were hoping he would be ready to return by late May, but this is not going to be the case. Josh Hamilton has Rua's former starting job now. There's no current timetable for Rua's return.

  • Blue Jays recall Chris Colabello from minors
Blue Jays recalled 1B Chris Colabello from Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: The 31-year-old Colabello has been smashing the ball in Buffalo, hitting .337 with five home runs and a .975 OPS over 23 games. He started out red-hot for the Twins last season before cooling off. Keep an eye on him to see if he jumps out to a fast start when given at-bats, but he's most likely not going to be roster-able in any league other than the deepest AL-only ones. Jonathan Diaz was optioned to Triple-A to make room for the first baseman.

  • Blue Jays calling up Chris Colabello
The Blue Jays are calling up Chris Colabello from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, reports Shi Davidi of

Advice: The corresponding roster move isn't yet known. Colabello, 31, is batting .337 with five home runs and a .975 OPS over his first 23 games in Triple-A this season. He's capable of playing first base and the outfield.

  • Reynolds' grand slam helps Cards outlast Cubs
Mark Reynolds went 2-for-3 with a walk and a grand slam as the Cardinals narrowly defeated the Cubs on Monday.

Advice: The Cardinals were behind 5-0 before they even had a chance to bat, but Reynolds immediately brought them back into the game with a grand slam in the bottom half of the inning off of Travis Wood. It's only the second home run of the year for Reynolds, who has served as a pinch-hitter and occasional first baseman against left-handed starters. He's batting .216/.341/.459 on the year along with eight RBI.

  • Ruf logs 3 hits, scores twice in Phils' win
Darin Ruf went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Monday's win over the Braves.

Advice: Ruf was in the lineup at first base, spelling Ryan Howard, as the left-handed Alex Wood started for the Braves. It was no surprise that Ruf performed well as he has a career .864 OPS against lefties. Ruf, batting .229/.296/.438 with two home runs and five RBI, has no use in traditional fantasy leagues, but can provide some value every now and then in DFS.

  • Nate Freiman (back) begins rehab assignment
Nate Freiman (back) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville on Monday.

Advice: It's not clear how many rehab games he'll need, but Freiman isn't a given to be added to be big league roster once ready. He's missed the last two months with a lumbar muscle strain.

Travis Ishikawa (back) has resumed his rehab assignment with High-A San Jose.

  • Nick Swisher (knees) to be activated Tuesday
Indians manager Terry Francona said Nick Swisher (knees) will be activated from the disabled list Tuesday.

Advice: Tyler Holt will be optioned to Triple-A Columbus to open a spot on the Indians' 25-man roster. Swisher missed all of April while rehabbing from dual knee surgeries. He batted just .208/.278/.331 with eight home runs and 42 RBI in 97 games last season for the Indians and the 34-year-old seems doubtful to carry significant value this summer in standard fantasy leagues.

  • Dodgers acquire Andy Wilkins from Blue Jays
Dodgers acquired 1B Andy Wilkins from the Blue Jays for cash considerations.

Advice: Wilkins was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays earlier in the week. The 26-year-old slugger will provide organizational depth for the Dodgers. To create room on the 40-man roster, Scott Baker was designated for assignment.

  • Johnson blasts fifth homer to help Braves win
Kelly Johnson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 5-0 victory against the Reds.

Advice: Johnson, playing at third base in this contest, pushed the Braves' lead to 3-0 in the first inning with a two-run home run off of Johnny Cueto. He had been seeing starts in left field more recently. The utilityman has been a surprising source of offense for the Braves as he has five home runs with 13 RBI, and is batting .250/.297/.533.

  • Ryan Rua (foot) to have exam to check healing
Ryan Rua will undergo a scan on Friday to see how his injured right foot is healing.

Advice: Rua is working his way back from a broken bone in his heel and severe ankle sprain. The Rangers are hoping he's ready to as soon as late May, although he no longer has a starting job following the acquisition of Josh Hamilton.

  • Blanks picks up four hits, drives in three
Kyle Blanks went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's win over the A's.

Advice: Talk about making an immediate impact. This was just Blanks' third game of the season after being called up in the wake of Mitch Mooreland's elbow injury. Against the A's, the big first baseman hit almost everything thrown his way, with a home run, a double and a pair of singles. Blanks now has home runs in back-to-back games and should be seriously considered in deeper mixed leagues until Mooreland returns. With Triple-A Round Rock, he was hitting .327/.419/.635.

  • Jays designate Andy Wilkins for assignment
Blue Jays designated 1B Andy Wilkins for assignment.

Advice: The 26-year-old slugger was claimed off waivers from the White Sox at the end of spring training. He was off to a slow start at Triple-A Buffalo, hitting .264/.353/.319 with no homers and nine RBI in his first 21 games. There's a chance he could attract interest elsewhere.

  • Morrison homers and triples vs. Astros
Logan Morrison was 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a triple in Friday's loss to the Astros.

Advice: It was his second home run of the season and his first triple since the 2013 season with the Marlins. Morrison has pulled his batting average up from .149 to .213 over the past three games. It's not much, but it's progress.
    Friday, 9:01 pm
  • Craig hits first home run of season
Allen Craig launched a solo homer Friday against the Yankees.

Advice: It was his first home run of the season. Craig came into Friday's action hitting just .118 (4-for-34) with no extra-base hits and had yet to play right field in Fenway Park this season, but Red Sox manager John Farrell took a shot and it paid off. He's had a tough transition as a bench player and will likely only continue to see part-time at-bats.
    Friday, 8:06 pm
  • Kelly Johnson's two-run homer powers Braves
Kelly Johnson blasted a two-run homer in the fifth inning on Friday, powering the Braves to a 4-3 victory over the Reds.

Advice: It was his lone hit in four at-bats on the evening, but he certainly made the most of it, lining an Anthony DeSclafani offering over the wall in right that proved to be the difference in the ballgame. He has held his own at the plate this season, slashing .250/.304/.519 with four homers and 11 RBI in 52 at-bats.

  • Steve Pearce getting a start at second base
Steve Pearce is starting at second base in Friday's game versus the Rays.

Advice: Pearce has never played an inning at the position in the minors or majors. Jimmy Paredes has plenty of experience at second base but is bizarrely in the designated hitter spot Friday instead of Pearce. Pearce has been a big disappointment with the bat this season, hitting just .196/.288/.314 over his first 15 games.
    Friday, 12:38 pm
  • Logan Morrison goes 4-for-5, doubles
Logan Morrison went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBI versus the Rangers on Wednesday.

Advice: Even a four-hit game could merely raise his average to .194. Still, it's a start. It's the first time in 20 games this year that he's come up with multiple hits.
    Wednesday, 8:30 pm
  • Freiman (back) could start rehab next week
Nate Freiman (back) could start a rehab assignment next week.

Advice: Freiman had four at-bats and played first base in extended spring training Wednesday as he works back from a lumbar muscle strain. Assuming the rehab goes well, Freiman should be back with the A's in mid-May.

  • Rangers add Kyle Blanks from AAA level
Rangers purchased the contract of 1B Kyle Blanks from Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Blanks was batting .327/.419/.635 with three home runs and 11 RBI through 16 games this season for Round Rock. The big-bodied 28-year-old figures to get a large share of the playing time at DH while Mitch Moreland (elbow) is sidelined and is worth a look in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.
    Wednesday, 1:28 pm
  • Kyle Blanks to be called up Wednesday
Kyle Blanks will be called up by the Rangers on Wednesday.

Advice: He'll replace Mitch Moreland (elbow) on the roster. Blanks has been crushing the ball at Triple-A Round Rock, batting .327/.419/.635 with three homers and 11 RBI. He should see plenty of playing time in the designated hitter spot while Moreland is out and is worth a look in deeper leagues.

  • Johnson hammers Nats with 3 hits, 3 RBI
Kelly Johnson went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and a two-run home run to help lead the Braves past the Nationals on Monday.

Advice: The utilityman got the start at left field in this one. He extended the Braves' lead to 4-1 with a two-run home run off of Doug Fister in the sixth inning, then added an RBI single in the seventh. The 33-year-old veteran has come to the plate 42 times and has homered twice with seven RBI while batting .263/.333/.526.

  • Swisher (knee) still on rehab assignment
Nick Swisher (knees) will travel to Rochester with Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.

Advice: The plan calls for Swisher get consecutive days in the outfield by the weekend and then possibly join the Indians early next week. The veteran outfielder is making his way back from surgery on both of his knees. He's probably not going to be a great fantasy asset when healthy.
